Author's note:

Okay, I mean it this time. This is really the final chapter.

In this chapter everything will be answered:

Who is the mysterious blonde man and his accomplice with the long brunette ponytail?

What anime are those guys from?

Who is the man locked up in jail in Japan who is associated with them?

What anime is THAT guy from?

Why do the nations not know each other?

Why does it seem like the citizens around them do know them?

How does it feel to find out you're a nation?

The nations silently and cautiously file into what looks like a council room where politicians meet to discuss. The carpeting and curtains were a regal red and the wood furniture was a rich cherry oak.

Gilbert drags Roderich and Ludwig over to three chairs and he sits between them, embracing both the very uncomfortable men at the same time. Roderich spazzes himself out of Gilbert's arms and wipes himself down with his handkerchief. Ludwig threatens to break Gilbert's arm in two.

Ivan nervously slides into a chair next to Natalia. He's nervous because of this meeting, not because of Natalia, he has no idea who she is but when Natalya looks up at his face her heart skips a beat.

Yao and Kiku study the crowd suspiciously, then decide it is safe to sit next to each other.

Francis and Arthur catch each other's glance as they each spy two empty seats next to each other.

"Do you mind if I sit next to you?" Arthur very politely asks the man he thinks is a stranger.

"Of course not. You're very welcome to" Francis replies, having studied plenty of English before.

They sit next to each other, Arthur glaring in front of him while nosy Francis examines the British man's wardrobe.

"I admire your watch. Is that from the Burberry men's collection?" Francis compliments him.

"Your hair is too long." Arthur insults him in reply.

Francis immediately shuts up.

Naturally there are a few hushed conversations around the room but all of that ceases when the mysterious blonde man centers himself at the front of the room.

"We will be conducting this meeting in English, as I'm sure everyone has studied the world's most spoken language." he announces and then begins. "Some of you have been going about your normal lives and have randomly gotten an invitation to come to New York for this meeting. Others... erm, the majority of you... have recently had your lives turned upside down and been through a few chaotic adventures to say the least." He pauses. "You don't know who you are and you need answers." he sighs. "And I will explain."

There is a Japanese man in a prisoner's uniform sitting off in the corner of the front of the room who grips his wrists and twists his hands around them nervously.

"My name is Elliot Shirogane- yes, I'm... half French half Japanese. And the man with the bowtie and the long brunette ponytail is Keiichiro Akasaka. We are scientists who specialize in aiding and protecting supernaturally gifted humans. Our biggest project before this one was the mew project." There is still one more person Elliot needs to introduce. "The man in the prisoner's garb..." Elliot turns to grimace at him sitting in the corner. "We're going to get to him later. He'll be introduced as I tell the story."

What story?

There is a long pause as everyone awaits the long overdue 'story' but Elliot isn't quite ready to start with that.

"Amelia" Elliot calls her name in the silent room and the girl who had been listening intently in the middle of the crowd this entire time perks up her ears. "You're the best female baseball player in the country."

"No." Amelia responds dismally and then ramps up her volume. "I am the best female baseball player IN THE WORLD!" she bounces out of her seat, her cute hair sways briefly until it places itself framed around her face again.

"Yes." Elliot agrees, unfazed by her sudden reaction. "Effortlessly, you are." The room is dead silent, Amelia is frozen.

Elliot never takes his cold blue gaze off of her. "And you never thought that was odd?"

Everyone is still unresponsive. Amelia slowly sits down. She did. This whole story started on a casual morning in California. As per her usual morning routine, Amelia made up her mind about what she was going to do that day and which states she was going to hang out in. She just so happened to arrive at the McDonald's in Jackson, Mississippi at the same time that Alfred was already waiting in line to order. That's how they met. All the other customers at McDonald's were acting so strange around them. The cashier assumed their order was together which is a common mistake if two strangers look alike. But... why did no one call the police when Amelia beat Alfred with her baseball bat? Why was everyone adoring them instead of freaking out, why was Alfred not bruised, why, what, who, how? Amelia's heart starts to race just as much as it had back at McDonald's in Mississippi on that eerie day, except today she couldn't escape. Back then in Mississippi, though, escape is exactly what she did. She took a flight immediately to Kentucky and thwacked baseballs with her bat as hard as she could until some nine year old kids came up to her and complimented her on her incredible skills. She gave them her baseball bat to beat her mercilessly, she felt no pain... "And you never thought that was odd?" Elliot's words were ringing in her ears along with the memory of the kids beating her up at the baseball diamond. She DID think that was odd. That's how ALL of this started. Amelia squirms in her seat, struggling to contain her anxiety.

Elliot takes a large sigh, and stares up at the ceiling. He is just hoping that they will take an understanding approach to what he is about to say and no drama will ensue. "You all are nations. Well, not precisely if you want to nitpick the dictionary definition. You all are super-humans, who have the qualities of a human mixed with the qualities of your respective nation. You... can't die... unless your nation is conquered. Obviously, that is not the only super natural quality you possess, there are many others which a lot of you have already started to discover."

Amelia pulls out her compact and brushes back her bangs to gaze at the stars in her eyes.

Elliot continues. "Your personality and interests are all a combination of the average personality/interests the citizens in your nation possess. And what you're passionate about are the values your nation stands behind."

Antonio remembers fondly spending his days cooking or lounging on the roofs of Spain playing his guitar. His nation is so beautifully passionate.

"Wait, but that's... good" Feliciano blurts out, confused.

"Yeah, that's really cool!" Alfred adds happily.

The crowd murmurs many different things in puzzled agreement with Feliciano and Alfred.

Germany scatters the chattering with his booming voice. "Then why do you look so gloomy and why didn't we already know this about ourselves?" he directs the attention back to Elliot.

"Ugh, that's the hard part." Elliot grinds his teeth up at the ceiling. "Go ahead" he then motions his head over to Keiichiro who had set up a video on the computer to be displayed on the overhead projector. Elliot moves out of the center of the front of the room so everyone can watch the video.

The video was extremely depressing and very scary. Nothing was censored. All of the gore and bloodshed that many wars had inflicted on innocent people was excruciatingly displayed. The nations themselves back then were in the video too, getting emotional and having panic attacks in various news clips. Kiku hangs his head. He does not want to see any more of this.

Elliot steps back in front of the projector screen when the video was over. "Unfortunately, your leaders over the course of history have made some awful decisions in pursuit of money and power."

The nations gaped at him, most of their jaws dropped and many of them teary-eyed.

Elliot gestures to the prisoner. "Hidekaz Himaruya is an illustrator who was a huge fan of you guys, as was everyone. Your citizens loved you guys and they still do to this day. Maybe the young kids don't recognize you but many people aged older than that do. Anyway, Hidekaz wanted to make a manga in comic form about history and he wanted it to mainly just star you all, not anyone else. It erupted into a popular anime. He turned many historical events into metaphors so they would fit into the sitcom played by all of you. Ever heard of... Hetalia?" Elliot asks. Kiku and Sakura jerk in surprise and then Elliot moves away from the screen again so Keiichiro can show them some clips of Hetalia.

After that, Elliot walks back in front of the screen again. "The anime started the grass roots movement, 'Make Pasta Not War.' You guys were all for it. Not only did the wars that have happened hurt your citizens but they physically hurt you when the vast majority of the country is suffering and/or in pain." Elliot moves away from the screen so Keiichiro can play the video showing that grassroots movement in action.

Feliciano Vargas was shirtless, covered in paint stains and dancing a paint brush along a giant brick wall on a hot summer day in Italy. A large bucket of water spills all over him and the camera pans over to Lovino who was grinning until Feliciano grabs another bucket and tosses it over him.

The video showed many over wholesome scenes like this involving all the nations and then ended. Elliot walked in front of the screen again. "Because Hetalia is so silly, it offended some of the major world leaders. They didn't like how their country was being represented. The dictators especially. They wanted you guys to fit their cold hard war mold. They successfully classified Hetalia as a hate crime and sent Hidekaz Himaruya to jail for creating it. As for you guys, you couldn't stand the thought of another war. You couldn't even psychologically get over the previous ones. You searched far and wide for a scientist to create a safe drug that removes your memory. It just so happened that I was working on one at the time and that's how I met you all. You came to me begging for me to finish the drug and use it on you. Japan and Russia- uh, Kiku and Ivan, especially insisted. They would not take no for an answer. It was a very emotional argument but I finally succumbed. I knew it was a bad idea and that you would start to discover that something is off eventually. And that's exactly what happened. And now we are here."

Yao is the first to speak after Elliot is finished explaining. "We need to bail Himaruya out of jail!"

"YEAH!" Everyone pumps their fists in agreement.

During all the chaos, Francis looks at the Englishman sitting next to him. "So according to those videos from the past, we really hated each other."

Arthur crosses his arms. "Hmm. Makes sense."

"UGH" Francis flails in disgust. "I CAN'T believe I let you sit next to me!"

Elizaveta interrupts the crowd "But first let's get to know each other again! We've got a lot of catching up to do!" she excitedly hugs Natalya who was still embarrassed about the videos showcasing her crush on Ivan.

"Yo let's grab some to-go food and all meet at Central Park to eat and play sports and just like hang out and stuff! Just like old times!" Alfred shouts. After everyone unanimously agrees he asks "What do y'all feel like eating?!"

Feliciano raises his hand high "PASTAAAAAA"

The front doors of the building swing open to reveal every nation clustered together in the lobby and outside millions of people screaming and crying, reaching out their hands to touch the nations, their faces lit up with relief and joy.

"Everyone missed you guys" Himaruya explains and Keiichiro couldn't hide his smile.

You're loving this world

Even if that doesn't ring true

You've been all over

And it's been all over you

Amelia pushes through the front doors of Olive Garden and skips inside.

"Miss America!" the hostess greets her. "You are especially hungry today" she gestures towards the mountains of to-go food Amelia ordered.

"Hardy har har" Amelia pulls out her wallet. "Oh and I finally know why everyone keeps calling me Miss America!" she wags a manicured finger- the rest of them gripping her wallet- at the hostess.

She was interrupted by the Olive Garden doors opening again. Alfred casually walks in.

"Ohhh" the hostess slowly lifts her eyes from the to-go screen on the computer and smirks at Amelia and Alfred. "It's for both of you. Cute!"

"I told you to stay in the car!" Amelia hisses at Alfred, like an annoyed sister.

"I'm HUNGRY" Alfred whines, like an annoying brother. "Chocolate mints!" he invades one of the to-go bags while Amelia rolls her eyes.

"All the nations are spending the afternoon in the park to celebrate, you know, finding out everything and stuff" Amelia lifts a credit card towards the hostess. "You wanna come?"

"Aw man, sounds perfect. If only I wasn't working" the hostess inserts the card into the chip reader.

"Suit yourself" Amelia answers and takes her card back and the receipt. She turns to leave. "You better NOT eat all the mints!" she screeches at Alfred, who is stuffing his face with chocolate.

He goes and opens the door ahead of her and holds it open for her while she glares at him.

"Ladies first" he says, raising his eyebrows at her.

Amelia walks her short self past the tall man hovering over her as he sprinkles the rest of the mints over her head. She slams her fist into his gut which makes him spaz away from the door, the mints flying everywhere as she slams the door behind her.

The hostess squeals in adoration of them as Alfred weakly smiles at her and carries the rest of the food out of the restaurant.

Lili, the young girl who is apparently also known as Liechtenstein, throws out a picnic blanket and smooths it out on the grass. Alice Kirkland sits at the edge of the blanket, and opens the latest book she is reading.

Amelia huffs from a far distance as she carries half of the food, running across the field to the picnic blanket. Alfred is running not too far behind her with the other half of the food. Elizaveta catches up with Amelia and helps her carry the food to the picnic blanket.

"Hungry, Hungary?" Amelia teases and Elizaveta sighs.

"That's going to get old so fast." she grumbles and turns around to see the ghost of Gilbert shyly holding fresh wildflowers that he just picked for her. "And... so is that" her negative response immediately made him frown.

A short distance away, Feliciano is flinging frisbees towards Germany who is making such solid catches that the plastic almost cracks in half.

Ivan is laying near a sunflower and admiring it, a genuine smile across his lips.

Antonio is also sprawled in the grass near the picnic blanket, strumming his guitar and humming softly.

It's a beautiful day

Don't let it get away

Author's note:

- Wow, I didn't even realize I made it seem like they all met up at the World Meeting Room from Hetalia's first episode. I totally didn't even mean to do that! That's crazy! I realized it as I was typing the description for a- supposed to be random- council room I wanted them meeting in.

- Yes. The two mysterious men are from "Tokyo Mew Mew", or the English version, "Mew Mew Power". I borrowed their characters because I thought they fit well with the plot I was designing. I didn't mean for this to be a crossover though.

- Yes. The prisoner is Hidekaz Himaruya, himself, but he is innocent!

- The italicized song lyrics in this chapter are from "Beautiful Day" by U2. I made a Youtube video with that song and a slideshow of photos from one of the local Hetalia Day meetups near me, way back in 2010.

- It's officially finished. I promised I would finish it. It may have taken a year or two for me to get around to it but I always keep my promises.

Check out my favorited stories list! Maybe even branch out to some of my favorited stories that aren't Hetalia. I've got some real treasures in there.
