Apologies this took so long. Please Enjoy.

Harry observed Deaths relaxed form, Harry slumping back in his seat while Crowley leaned forward intently.

"Quite a long long time ago when I was younger, I was naïve, idealistic… and after a time… well, I got bored."

Death paused, sighing melodramatically. Death looked from Harry to Crowley, and only once he was sure he had their attention did he continue.

"And so, I went off in pursuit of somebody or something to remedy my boredom. I searched the most desolate corners of the Earth, the brightest rooms of Heaven. I've searched purgatory, Hell, alternative universes. I looked everywhere."

Death paused again, looking off into the distance intensely before he continued in a grave tone. "But yet… I found… nothing."

Harry looked to his father, who he hoped would share in his exasperation of Death's dramatics. However, Harry could only gape as his father stared at Death, clearly enraptured.

"During my travels, I learned— humans, demons, angels and every other sentient creature, they all had flaws. Angels," Death scoffed "So uptight you couldn't even have a decent conversation with them. Demons, bah, so corrupt that all they cared about was corruption. And humans?" Death snorted.

"Don't even get me started on humans. Free will? Sure. But yet so easily influenced. Just playing pieces in the childish war games of Heaven and Hell."

"I was looking for something outside of the playing field entirely. I just didn't know where to look…Yet."

Death looked off into the distance once again "But then… a spark. Something different, something wonderful."

As Death paused again, Harry tapped his fingers impatiently against the arm of his chair, sighing noisily.

Death shot Harry a knowing look "Patience Harrison."

Harry glared mulishly with a slight pout as Death continued as if there was no interruption "It was different than anything I have ever seen before, human, yet not. They wielded the power of both Heaven and Hell, and yet they were from neither."

"I watched as they grew, learned, and adapted to those that sought to hunt them. I quickly grew fascinated with them."

Death smiled sardonically "I eventually decided that I had to see up close if these beings, these Wizards and Witches, were worth my time."

"So, I tested them. Created a scenario which would give me the opportunity to discover, if given the opportunity for power, if they would succumb to greed or flourish under freedom."

"This is a story you know well Harrison. The tale of the Three Brothers…"

"Well, I'll make a long story short. Two brothers had succumbed to humanities innate lust for power, just as I suspected they would…" Death sighed "I had such high hopes…"

"The third brother though, well he surprised me. He too wanted power. But yet he used that power in a way I didn't suspect."

"Hid from me?" Death scoffed "It's my cloak, all objects created by me have a hint of my power. So, if anything, it called to me."

"But instead of reaping him, I watched him. Waited for the greed, his selfishness to corrupt him as they did his brothers. But yet he was different still. He lived a long, normal, boring, human life. With his boring, ordinary family."

Death signed with a hint of wistfulness, "I waited until the very end. Because surely, I thought, surely, there would come a time where he would prove me right. Would give in to temptation."

"But that day never came. And I lost my chance to bond with him before he is reaped. Taken away…"

"I was furious. But furious with him? How could I be? He gave in to his human tendencies of normalcy, yes… maybe I blamed him for that for a while. No… I was mostly furious with myself for losing my chance for a companion."

"Again, I left the upperworld. I scattered the wand and stone far from their original owners. But perhaps I held a secret hope, as I left my cloak with his descendants. I swore to never return to my search. I accepted the fact that there would be no other like Ignotus Peverell, no other to be my perfect companion."

"But boredom got the best of me." Death chuckled ruefully. "I… tortured myself. Visiting Ignotus in his afterlife… he became the companion I had always wished for. But yet I knew, knew deep down as I spent more time with him that something was… lacking."

Death paused, pouring himself a glass of brandy. Harry and Crowley waited impatiently and patiently, respectfully, as he took a few sips of the alcohol before he continued.

"He welcomed me when he was reaped, as they so say. But after, well what would he want to do with me when he had everything he ever wished for in Heaven?"

Death took a long drink, emptying his glass before refilling it again. "Called me an abomination. Laughed at me…"

Death sighed "To make a long story short, I gave up on searching. I could feel my objects getting passed from person to person, felt the very essence of each person getting corrupted one way or another, either from my objects' power or from who knows what else."

He waved his hand in the air flippantly "It doesn't matter. Either way they fell to corruption, to greed, to power…"

Death smiled brightly "But one day, well I felt something different once again. A Cambion coming into contact with my cloak. And not just the cloak, all three of my objects!"

"Remarkable!" he breathed "No Demon, Angel, or Cambion alike should have even been able to come into contact with the cloak or any of the objects…"

"I can only suspect this is due to that oaf Dumbledore's contract. Suppressing your power for so long enabled you to come into contact with my objects, and even when your power was released somehow you kept control."

Death chuckled, looking at Harry fondly again "Perhaps it is Fate, finally taking pity on me and sending you to me."

Death leaned forward fixedly, taking Harry's hand, holding onto him tightly when Harry reflexively tried to pull away.

"Harrison…" he breathed, rubbing his thumbs soothingly across Harry's knuckles. "You are mine, just as I am yours. Eternally."

Harry stared wide-eyed at the being before him, giving up on trying to pull away as Death only tightened his hold whenever he tried. Harry ignored how comfortable he felt around Death, ignoring the tingles he was getting from every caress across his hand.

Harry coughed uncomfortably as Death only continued to stare at him dreamily "U-uh" he squeaked "How do you know that I uh, aren't greedy or whatever?"

Death chuckled, lifting Harry's hand to his mouth and softly running his knuckles across his lips, holding eye-contact the whole time.

Harry snatched his hand back, holding it close to his chest as Death leaned back into his seat contentedly.

Death looked off into the distance again as Harry watched him incredulously "I was there Harrison. I have always been there. I had watched you just as I have Ignotus."

"Since James Potter first laid you down on my cloak as a newborn, we have been connected. And that connection only deepened as you came into your magical inheritance and grown as a Cambion."

"Harrison, I have been with you when you were in that detestable cupboard, when you got your Hogwarts letter, when you have first faced that eyesore Voldemort…"

"Whether it was me or my essence in the cloak, I have always been there—"

Harry cut him off, suddenly outraged "Wait so you knew what I went through, what the Dursleys and Dumbledore and— and Voldemort put me through. And you just sat back and did nothing?! Why—"

Death silenced Harry sternly "Harrison!" Harry jumped as Death's power flared throughout the room, Death's gaze softening as he saw Harry startle.

"You do not know how much I wished to step in and help you. But that at that point I, I was still wary." He said honestly "How was I to know that you would not succumb to a hunger for power? That you would instead flourish with no one else's power but your own?"

"I won't allow myself to regret not stepping in sooner, all your experiences have made you the wonderful young man you are today. And I wish to get to know you."

Harry fidgeted as he mulled over Death's explanation. Harry sighed as he looked over to his father, who has been quiet thus far. Crowley nodded, Harry knowing that he would support him no matter his decision.

Harry sighed again, exaggeratedly "Fine, I guess."

Harry shot Death a firm look as Death smiled so widely it looked as if he was going to start bouncing around in excitement like a child.

"But first, I want to know; why now?"

Harry elaborated when both Death and his father looked confused "I mean, why approach me now?"

Death chuckled "Ah I see… Well, news of an 'unbelievably strong' young 'Demon' is circulating throughout Hell so I figured I would investigate. And talking to an acquaintance of mine I hear an interesting rumour that this so-called demon might not be a demon at all but in fact, might just be a Cambion."

I hope I covered everything… let me know what you think of the backstory between Death and Harry.
