Chapter six

Harry had never been a deep sleeper, never have been given the opportunity to, nor had he ever been one to sleep in; usually wide awake long before he actually wanted to be. So, it was rather quickly, and early he found himself rising the next morning. Despite the fact he had spent most of the night before sneaking around the night before doing his best to get everything ready for the next morning.

But knowing he couldn't do anything about the fact he was now up, as his body really wouldn't let him go back to sleep now that he was up. Harry instead got dress for the day, mentally going over everything that he still needed to do. Which included things like get all the supplies he had gotten together out of there, make sure he hadn't left anything behind as he did so.

And then most importantly let the others know let all the others know that the CDC was most likely going to be blowing up some time real soon. Along with making them a large breakfast that would hopeful be able to soften the news he was going to give them a little.

Not to mention, in a sense of regret that he was going to be the deliverer of such bad news, and the fact this group had children among, further softening his view of the group even more, Harry had also gotten several bundles of supplies together.

Most of which Harry had gotten from the remaining supplies he hadn't packed from the CDC, but there had been several different, but important items Harry had made sure to grab from his own bag. All of which he then gathered together in several army backpacks to give to the others.

These supplies were things such as had a first aid kits, nonperishable foods, canned foods, camping supplies, water, flints and of course several guns and blade. Not to mention Harry had placed in things like tightly wrapped up blankets, warmer clothes, socks, shoes and smaller things like repair/sewing kits; to help keep things in the best condition possible.

All things Harry could see being vital with what was going on, and all things Harry wasn't sure they had before; meaning hopefully they would be a little grateful for said things. And wouldn't try to lash out at him for what he was going to have to tell them. As while it may be unpleasant news it's be all the more unpleasant if he didn't tell them at all. Something he really couldn't see himself doing.

So, with that in mind Harry grabbed his own bag, along with the other ten bags he had pack. Each one made for every member of the group, including the children; as Harry knew the kids would need supplies as well. As there was a chance, however much he wished there wasn't, that the kids could get separated from the group they were in.

And knowing this Harry felt that it would be best that they were at least partially prepared for it. Like he tried to do all the time, prepare for the worst hope for the best. Even if, at the same time, he had made those bags, he was giving them, look smaller, as well as spelled them to be lighter for the children in question. While still making it so it carried just as much as the others did. Something that Harry hoped would prove helpful to them as he carried all the bags out of his room, and as he began to head downstairs to make breakfast he had been planning to the night before.

Noting with a slight annoyance as he did so, that everyone was still sleeping; including Dr. Jenner. And worst yet it wasn't even five in the morning yet. Making Harry do several things at once. One curse slightly under his breath the fact that he never had been able to sleep past that time due to both his family and then later his training. Two start moving as quickly as he could while carrying the bags he was, and lastly making some adjustments to the plans he had been making.

Knowing now that it was highly unlikely that the others would be getting up this early, even if they were normally earlier rises because of both the rather heavy drinking and exhaustion the whole group had had the night before.

Making it so even the earlier risers of that group would most likely be sleeping in as much as they could this morning. Realizing this Harry accepted the fact that he really wouldn't be needed to make that breakfast quite yet. So instead Harry put his other plans in to motion ahead of time.

Starting first with setting the bags he had carried down on the seats the others had been sitting in the night before. Each bag going to the seat the person in question had sat on the night before; hoping that they would do the same today. Though given the fact that some of the bags where color coded, and made for a specific gender, not to mention the Childrens bags where smaller so he figured it was obvious which bag was for who; so he didn't worry too much about that.

While, at the same time, making sure his own bag was firmly placed on the ground below him. Where he could easily grab it and swing it on his bag at any given moment. Not to mention in a place no one else would be able to easily grab it themselves without having to go around him to do so. As despite wanting to help this group he didn't want them to try to take his bag; something he really wouldn't put past a few members of that group from trying.

After Harry had all the bags where he wanted them, began to gather the food that was in the kitchen storage. Having not emptied that the night before, both because of what he had been planning to do it in the morning with making the breakfast for everyone else.

And because he hadn't wanted to wake anyone else up as the time he had gotten around to that area it was rather late and moving all that food would have been rather loud; even with the help of magic. Which he would have only been able to do the bare minimum with as Harry knew Dr. Jenner himself had been up rather late last night as well. Having passed by him a few times when he was gathering up the remaining supplies.

But now that Harry certainly had the free time to do what he had been planning, and better yet, he had a good idea as to how to best get it all done without causing too much drama at the same time. Or alerting anyone to the fact he had magic, as with how jumpy everyone currently was, he would most likely get attack or shot by one of the members of the group if they saw him using magic.

Most likely something worse if it was Dr. Jenner who saw it, as despite working together, and trying to present a unit front, any kindness the Doctor had seemed to have left him in the months since his wife had died.

Knowing this, and wanting to keep his mind off it for now; as he knew sooner or later he would have to explain the fact he had magic to someone. As from he could see there really wasn't a way around that if he wanted to make it out of this whole thing as sane as possible. Instead Harry continued to work he had started the night before.

By setting all the food he was going to make on the counter, ready to be cooked into some sort of breakfast, before starting the make smaller piles of food in front of the bags he had placed on the table. As after six months there wasn't nearly as much food as there had been before. Still enough to last a while, even when spit between several different people, but not enough to spill off the table or anything similar to that.

And at the moment Harry didn't trust, or like the group in question nearly enough to open up his own bag to give them even more food, and supplies than he already was. Hell, Harry could have easily taken all the supplies he was currently giving them for himself and left in the middle of the night without warning them at all about what was happening. But he hadn't so they should be happy with that.

What Harry was planning on doing was letting the other see just what types of food they had and could pack away in the bags he had gotten them. Which considering the fact they were all military grade, hiking bags, and Harry added subtle spells to make them slightly bigger on the inside, did have room for the food in question. Along with everything else Harry had added with them.

As he did this Harry began to wonder how this would look to the others when they came down. Seeing as they had just arrived, from what must be a living hell outside, and now just a day after they got there they would be coming down to the kitchen to see several large and obviously full bags sitting in the chair they had used the night before. Not to mention piles of food in several piles of on the table above the bags waiting for them. As if telling them that they had to leave immediately.

Harry knew that when they first saw this, they wouldn't react well to it; not in the least bit. He couldn't see how they would, he knew if he was in their shoes he wouldn't. Seeing as they most likely would think Harry was trying to kick them out of the CDC. Or something similar to that, as that is what it looked like; to a degree.

But all Harry could hope was the fact they would see the breakfast Harry was planning on making them, along with all the stuff he had packed up for them, and allow him the chance to explain just what was going on before they exploded at him.

Seeing as Harry didn't see a lot of people actually freely giving up supplies like he had, if they were simply thinking on kicking out people of their shelters; like it looked like Harry was trying to do. Though given what Harry knew about a few of said group members that was highly unlikely he'd get that wish.

Knowing this Harry took a deep breath to steady himself for a bit before once more continuing with everything he wanted to do and get done before everyone else woke up. Which given the fact that Harry knew Dr. Jenner was also usually a rather early riser himself. Meant that he needed to get to work if he wanted it all done before said doctor woke up; and most likely woke up everyone else with him.

As Harry knew from experience that Dr. Jenner, while being someone who woke up early, wasn't what you could call a quite riser. Nor was he exactly what you could call a morning person, despite the fact he did get up early. Which Harry would freely admit he was one either, seeing as he honestly didn't want to talk to anyone or even say anything until hours after he had been awake; doing some type of work all the while.

Usually Harry tried his best to avoid anyone who would even want to speak to him until he felt more like speaking, similar to how Jenner did. Which made the few months a rather heavily silent one that was starting to get to Harry a bit.

However, Harry knew that this morning he couldn't afford to do that, and instead began to get ready for what he knew was going to be a headache inducing meeting. Starting first with beginning the breakfast for everyone along with some very strong coffee. As he got the feeling that he was going to need that coffee before the morning was done with.

It didn't take long for Harry to begin getting everything ready for breakfast, and before he knew it the scent of fresh coffee, fried eggs, bacon, sausage, along with the smell of freshly made waffles was flowing through the room and up the stairs.

As this happened Harry could clearly hear the sounds of everyone getting up and moving around. Obviously roused from their sleep by the scents that were now coming out of the kitchen. As something about the promise of fresh out food, seemed to always be able to wake someone up from a deep sleep; at least as long as they were hungry. Which these group obviously were.

Hearing this Harry gave a slight smirk before he began to set up plates on the nearby counter. Having not only cups for the coffee ready for the adults but pitchers of orange juice, coffee creamer, milk and a container of fresh maple syrup all setup for everyone to grab what they wanted. Something Harry was rather quick to do for himself as he didn't see him get a chance to actual eat any after everyone else got in here.

And it seemed he had finished this all just in time, not to mention had gotten to eat a little bit of his own food as well. As no sooner had he gotten the first bit of his food in his mouth, and just seconds after he had place last bit of the others breakfast in place then did the others begin to walk into the Kitchen.

With the first on entering being Daryl who seeing the piles of food on the table along with the bags beside all the chairs gave Harry a deep searching look before grabbing a near by plate to get some food; not saying a word. Just watching in silence as Harry quickly ate the food he had set out for himself. Eating and drinking a cup of coffee himself as he did this.

Which Harry was rather grateful for, even if he was rather wary about how searching not to mention aware Daryl's eyes where; wondering just what the man in question saw when he looked at him like that. What he noticed about him that the others had missed, as Harry recognized the kind of stare Daryl was giving him as something similar to what he had seen on his own face from time to time.

At the same time, after shaking off the feeling Daryl had given him, Harry also found himself hoping that the others would have similar reactions to what Daryl had. Even if he knew that was really a fool's hope to hope even as he thought it.

This was proven to be true when after several others had entered in, and instead of saying anything went for the coffee and food, both Shane and Lori entered in. Making Harry groan slightly and quickly down the rest of his coffee as quickly as he could. Almost wishing it was something strong as Lori seeing the bags and food on the table began to scream at Harry. While marching over to she was right in his face as she did so; so she was literally screeching at the top of her lungs right in Harry's face.

"What is that! Why do you have all those bags on the table? All the food? How could you waste food like that? I know you don't know how bad it is out there considering you've been hiding in here the whole time-"Here something must of shown in Harry's face as Lori quickly changed what she was saying. Face growing panicked, and looking wildly around, as she took a step back.

"Are you trying to say we have to leave because I'm not leaving and I would like to see you try and make us leave. Seeing as we out number you and I will not let you bully any of us you- "Here Harry cut her off before she could really get into her rant.

Knowing from previous experience while he had been volunteering at the hospital that the woman in question could really rant when she wanted to. And that she could hit just the right pitch while doing so that she always left you with a bad migraine before she was done. Something he really didn't want to deal with now, not when he was already starting to get a headache to begin with.

"No Lori, I am not kicking you out. No, I am not wasting any food despite what you think. In fact, just No to whatever you are thinking about. What is happening, is that I have something rather vital I need to tell you. After Breakfast that is, so please just sit down and eat. You can listen to me later if you wish, or you could ignore everything I tell you I don't care. But right now, it's too early to deal with You." This said Harry went to grab another cup of coffee, ignoring the fact that Lori, Shane and Rick all looked rather upset about what Harry had just said.

Not that Harry really cared in the least bit, about the fact that several people didn't like what he had just said. As he knew it was true, it was too early for him to deal with Lori, in fact if he had his wish he really wouldn't have to deal with her at all; as he had enough of her long before the world had gone to hell.

Something that wasn't helped in the least bit about the gut feeling he got that told Harry that she had really only gotten worse since then. Something he really didn't want to find out if it was true or not.

So, with that in mind Harry went in the opposite direction of Lori and those around her. If that happened to lead him to the two his magic made him feel more comfortable around, then that was just a bonus.

How was he to know both Daryl and Glenn would be the ones who where the furthest from Lori to begin with? Beside in the name of keeping peace, at least during breakfast Harry felt it was best he stayed away from those that would break said peace and let everyone eat without having to watch a fight of some sort breaking out.

Besides he wanted to enjoy the little bit of peace he had left before he had to let everyone know the bad news that was coming. Because he knew that what he was going to tell them was going to set of Lori more than he had seen her set off before; and most likely set of several of the others as well on top of that. Something he wanted to both put off as long as possible, yet at the same time get over as soon as possible as well. As he knew just how vital time could be when it came to information like he was holding.

Which was why after he saw the fact that everyone was done with breakfast, well besides Dr. Jenner. Whom Harry could see coming from his office letting Harry know that the doctor had spent the night in there once again. Making him just that much more grateful that he hadn't used in visible magic either last night or early this morning when he was preparing everything, as Dr. Jenner would most likely have seen it.

Now though, that didn't matter, as with everyone who needed to, having ate their breakfast and seeing that they were all about to start question either Dr. Jenner or him at any moment, Harry stepped forward getting all the eyes of the group on him.

Seeing this Harry resisted the urge to twitch, as he really never had liked having so much attention on him before. Mainly because it had never ended well for him when that did have such attention on him and instead began to speak up. Giving all the others the information, he knew that they would both need, but at the same time, most likely loath to receive.

"I know all of you have noticed both the bags as well as food I have piled up here. And before you scream at me for wasting food or attempt to put it away saying that it shouldn't be out, let me tell you just why I have done this."

This was said as Harry saw Lori was once more about to both start screaming at him again and looked ready to start placing everything he had set out back where it had been before. As if she felt she had the right to do whatever she wanted, that despite the fact she had just gotten there, that she was the one who was supposed to be in charge. If the look she was giving him meant anything.

"I had all of these set up for a reason. I want you to pack it all with you in the bags I have gotten for you all because- "

Harry was interrupted once more, but this time it wasn't only by someone screaming at him. Instead it was someone shouting at him while at the same time, attempting to throw a punch at him as they did so.

"If You Think I am going to let you kick all of out of here you've got another thing coming! You- "

This time it was Harry was who cut off the person screaming at him. By grabbing the fist of said person that was screaming at him and attempting to punch him while doing so, before flipping said person over.

Slamming them on the ground stopping their charge at him as well as their screaming in one swift movement. Then in less than a blink of an eye Harry had one of the guns he had strapped to his bag in his hand.

Pointed directly at the one who he had just slammed to the ground, and who had been attacking in him the first place. Before in an icy calm tone continuing talking; using his only free arm to twist the arm of the person that had been attacking him. Pining him security on the ground as he spoke.

"If you had let me finish what I was saying Shane, you'd find out I'm not trying to kick any of you out. And Lori before you even dare try to say something, or even attack me for what I just did, let me tell you I don't discriminate."

This was said with a glare directed at the rest of the group in particular Lori who looked seconds away from blowing her top and launching herself at Harry for what he had just done to Shane. With the fact that Harry being the only one who had a gun out at the moment most likely being the only reason she stopped herself.

Seeing that the rest of the group had taken what he was saying to heart, and none of the looked about to attack him for what he had just done, Harry slowly let Shane up. As he did so Harry made sure to grab his own bag, with several of his weapons clearly in view to stop any more attempts to attack him.

It was only after doing this, that Harry began to try to explain what he had been trying to tell them all along once more. Already feeling the growing headache getting even stronger than it had been. And that was only a few minutes into the conversation. He honestly needed to get this over with fast, or his head would end up killing him by the time this was all over with.

"Look the bags there are for all of your group members; including the children. They have all kinds of supplies in it; including all the things you can find here. The food there is also for you; as I feel with number you guys have, you'll be needed it more than me. Take it all or don't I do not care."

Here Harry took a slight pause to calm himself down some, so he wouldn't say something he shouldn't. Cursing the fact that when it came to emotions coming back to him, his more negative emotions seemed to come more easier than anything else; before continuing on with what he was saying.

"But I set it all up for you because the CDC isn't going to last that much longer. It runs of fuel, and that fuel is bond to run out real soon; as we don't have any replacement for it and this place has been up and running for several months now on the same fuel. I thought you would want to know that. I am planning on leaving soon myself. I figured that you would want to too. Giving the fact that as soon as this place runs out of fuel, it is made to blow up. Mainly to keep others from getting the disease in here, as well as keeping the disease in question from getting out. I raided all the supplies that were still here, split them between all of us. All those bags hold, blankest, clothes, medical supplies, as well as weapons; plus some. All the food is in front of you and there is room both in those bags as well as your own. So, do what you want with it."

Here Harry gave the others a look before raising an eyebrow at a red-faced Lori, whom still looked seconds from exploding at him. Obviously not happy with what he had just said, that or just not simply believing it.

"Stay here if you want, don't believe me if you want. But just ask Dr. Jenner he's the one who has worked here the longest and has the timer for the whole damn thing in his office. He'll let you know the truth."

This caused everyone to stop looking at Harry, in varies states of horror or disbelieve, or in case of Daryl an almost calculating look, and instead focus on Dr. Jenner. Who seeing that everyone was looking at him, put down his fork and sighed before speaking himself; sounding rather begrudging as he did so.

"Dr. Potter's right. I'll explain everything that is going on in my office. You want answers, right? Well me and Dr. Potter will explain it to you all in there. You'll get all the answers you want in there." Harry hearing this felt the hairs on the back of his neck go up in warning.

Something told him that something was wrong with what had just been said, or that something was wrong with Jenner in general. Something he had already knew but now he was feeling that it had gotten a lot worse than it had been before.

But at the same time, he couldn't exactly say what it was, or why he shouldn't let the others at least get the answers they wanted. Even if, at the same time, as someone who worked along side Dr. Jenner and had been since the beginning Harry could freely given them the answers they wanted outside the CDC.

It was just that he knew that certain others, who wouldn't listen to him in the least bit, would rather get the answers out of Dr. Jenner. Whom they believed he would know more than Harry would; most likely because they didn't like Harry and looked down on Harry for his young age. So, with a sigh, Harry did his best to ignore the feeling he was getting, and simply tightened his grip on his bag before following the others to where Dr. Jenner was leading them.

Feeling some satisfaction as he noticed, when it had looked behind him, that several of the others in the group had grabbed the bags Harry had set up for them. And had even shoved the food Harry had place on the table in said bags; at least it seemed that some of the group had listened to him.

Hell, from what he had seen Daryl had made sure to grab the bags the others had left behind. It seemed that man wasn't going to unprepared when he had another option. Which did make Harry feel the loss of sleep he had suffered through was worth it. Especially after he saw Daryl had the little girl, Sophia, the bag he had gotten ready with her in mind.

Once everyone was back in room Dr. Jenner had claimed as his own, and Harry's growing paranoia had gotten even worse as it screamed at him to get the hell out of there, Harry found himself watched tense, right in front of the door as everything began to play out.

Or to be more specific watching things go straight to hell as he cursed the fact he didn't listen to his gut instinct. As the door shut right behind him just as he saw how low the timer monitoring the fuel usage was.

Something the others seemed to take no notice of as they began to question Dr. Jenner about what was going on and found then because of this question soon found out about Dr. Jenner's wife. As well as the fact that despite everything they still didn't know much about what was going on; something that gained Harry the stink eye from Lori for reasons he really didn't want to even think about. Especially considering just what was going on.

At least no one took any notice of the fact of anything that was going on besides what Dr. Jenner was say, like that Harry was trying to move through the group so he could open back up the doors, until T-dog questioned.

"Is that the timer Dr. Potter was warning us about?" something which caused everyone to see that there was only thirty-eight minutes before the time went to zero. Something which also caused the others to finally notice the fact that the door had been locked behind them.

This caused panic to go through the rest of the group as the all began to fight to get out. Making it all that much more difficult for Harry to get to were he was trying to go. In fact, Harry found himself dodging another punch from Shane as he began to lash out at him screaming at him to get the damn door open. Like Harry, himself, had been the one to lock it in the first place.

Causing Harry to grit his teeth as he resisted the urge to scream, what the hell do you think I am trying to do, as Harry finally got through the others and to the computer. And after pushing Dr. Jenner way, in a way that nearly knocked said man out, and all the while ignoring the pure utter bullshit coming from said doctor's mouth. About what he was doing was for everyone benefit, and how it be only an instant of pain before it was all over, keyed in the password to get the doors behind them to open.

As he did this Harry got a sudden idea. One that he felt almost bad about doing as what it could mean if things did go wrong. But at the same time, knew that if it did go right it'd prove to be extremely helpful.

So, he didn't hesitate when it came to putting it into action. As he knew that he would be able to get rid of a large amount of the walkers around them if he did this. Something that could possible end up saving their lives in the end, and if not would still deal with a good chunk of walkers in the end none the less.

Meaning there would be less of those creatures attempting to follow them later or managing to surprise them down the road. So, with that in mind Harry grabbed a near by remote and joined the others into dashing out the doors.

Then after exiting both the last door, due to something utterly surprising Carol had in her purse that was able to blow the window out, and after managing to the outside the CDC to being with.

Not to mention having to fight to get away from the few walkers where out there, and after being pulled into a nearby truck by a panicking member of Rick's group Harry finally put his latest plan into action, and as they all drove off he pushed the remote he had brought with him.

Setting off an alarm as they all drove off, drawing all the walkers nearby into the CDC and away from them. Then all Harry knew as three different things, one there was a large explosion behind them; destroying the CDC and all the walkers that had poured into it. Two he hadn't noticed before that Dr. Jenner hadn't made it out with them, nor had Jacqui for that matter. And lastly, in an absent mindedly fashion he noticed they were now all heading in the direction he knew his house to be in.
