MT93: Hi. I am rewriting this story. I hope you like it.

Hiccup: Why did you mess up?

MT93: A little. (Shrugs) More like I didn't have the right information at the time.

Chapter One: The Son I lost

Valka's POV

This is Berk. A village of stubborn vikings that don't want to leave here, even though it snows nine months of the year and hails the other three. The location is even worse as it is located on the Meridian of Misery, but it is home. My name is Valka Haddock and I am the Chiefess of the Hooligan Tribe that lives on Berk. I am skinny, but tall female viking with auburn hair and blue eyes. Some people on the island, most of them really, say the only bad this about the island is the pests. While other places have raccoons, bugs, or wild animals; we have dragons.

All of the tribe, minus me, believe that dragons are mindless creatures that only want for food, blood, and violence. Berk is a land of kill or be killed, but I believed peace between vikings and dragons was possible. Right now, we are in the middle of a dragon raid. I see a huge viking about to kill a Deadly Nadder that he caught. I run towards the viking and push his ax out of the way of the Nadder's head.

"Stop! Your only make it worse!" I yelled at him.

While I was doing this the Nadder cut the ropes that was holding it down and flew away from both of us. The viking glared angrily at me while away noticing his captured prey had gotten away from him. My opinion wasn't very popular since almost all vikings like to fight and kill dragons. Peace was beyond their thinking. The viking runs after a Gronkle that just barely missed our heads as it flew over us.

Suddenly, I hear clatter coming from behind me and the only house behind me was my own. I whirl around and see a dragon with two sets of wings and an owl like face clawing its way through the roof of my home. The only one home was…

"HICCUP!" I yell and rush to my home.

Hiccup is my son and is only two and a half months old. He was born premature, small, and people didn't think he was going to make it. I can see that he will. He has a fire in his eyes and I know that he will go on to do great things as long as I make it in time. I rush into my house and dash up the stairs. I rush into the room holding my son and I see the four winged dragon over my son's cradle. I grab a sword that was hanging outside the room and prepare to attack the dragon, but I stop.

The dragon wasn't hurting my son, but was huddled protectively over his cradle. Hiccup was actually playing with one of the dragon's talons. This was proof that everything I was saying about dragon was right. I accidentally step on a squeaky floorboard which made the dragon quickly turn towards me; accidentally cutting Hiccup on the chin, making him cry. Our eyes met and I slowly lowered my sword. This wasn't a vicious beast, but an intelligent, gentle creature, whose soul reflected my own.

I didn't know what to do, but I really didn't have to do anything. Stoick the Vast, the Chief and my vastly big husband, came running into the room. My husband was an inch taller than me with a huge frame with red hair and green eyes. He throws his ax which spins through the air between the dragon and me, barely missing the dragon and planting itself into a pillar. He yells at me to run. The dragon scared for its life whirls around to Stoick and tries to blast him. At the last minute, he dives out of the way as the fire splatters against the wall, burning a hole and accidentally set the room ablaze.

Unnoticed by Stoick, the dragon's tail got caught in Hiccup's cradle and the cradle was moving with the dragon. The dragon moves towards Stoick, but I moved towards its tail. I tried to unhook the dragon's tail but it was no use. The dragon turns to face me again, locking eyes, agitated with the pressure being put on its tail.

"Hold on, Valka!" Yelled my husband.

He then dashed through the fire and towards his ax. He pulls his ax from the pillar and goes to attack the dragon, but is too late. The dragon grabs me by my right arm and started to fly out of the house, but feel itself being pulled back. I turn to see Stoick holding the other side of Hiccup's cradle. The dragon's tail break through the cradle missing the baby inside, but, to my horror, snagging Hiccup's blanket. The dragon flies out of the hole in the roof with me in it's claws and baby Hiccup on its tail.

"VALKA! HICCUP!" Yelled Stoick helplessly from inside the house.

"STOICK!" I yell back with tears running down my cheeks.

As the dragon, along with other dragons, start to fly away from Berk, I tried to climb up onto the back of the dragon and eventually succeeded. I carefully started to walk on the back of the dragon and towards its tail to get Hiccup, who was barely hooked onto the tail. I was at the end of the tail within grabbing distance when the blanket holding Hiccup ripped. I reached out to grab it and manage to snag the end, but it continued to rip and Hiccup fell.

"HICCUP! NOOOOO!" I yelled.

Not only did I lose my husband, my tribe, and my home, but now I have lost my one and only son too. I could never go back and face the fact that I was the most useless person in the whole world. I couldn't even save my own son. I cried and cried.

Tarasa's POV

Hi. My name is Tarasa and I am a Night Fury. I live with my mate, who is also a Night Fury, by the name of Zargus. I am just getting back to from a raid on an island called Berk. I hear yelling above me, when a blanket with something heavy in it lands on my head. The blanket hooks onto my ear flaps and I can't dislodge it alone.

'I need help getting this thing off my head! *sigh* Better go to Zargus for help.' I thought.

So I broke off from the pack of dragon as they went to give their lazy queen food. I never give food and why should I, it isn't like she's going to get off her lazy ass and come after me. Haha! All the other dragons need to do is move and stop letting her put the dragon fear into them. There are better queens, not to mention more awesome kings. My Island home is just west of the Queen's nest. I live there with my mate and soon to be hatchling. I invite any dragon that doesn't want to serve the Queen to live with me, so far that includes two clans of Gronckles, three Zipplebacks, and one clan of Deadly Nadders.

I near my cave at the top of my Island as I continue to listen to whatever that was on my head laugh and scream in joy.

'Whatever is on my head...loves to fly.' I thought.

Finally, I make it home to see my mate tending to the cave, making sure we had everything we needed to survive winter. I know my mate is sad, we only had one egg from this last mating season. I know she wanted more.

"Hello, my wonderful mate!" I called out to her.

She turned around and went to me, kissing my muzzle. She really missed me.

"Hello, Tarasa. How was the raid?" She asked.

"Same as always. I, along with the others, killed some vikings and they killed two of us. Then, the dragons fed the lazy queen." I said as I shook my head. As I shook my head the thing in the blanket laughed again.

Zargus look at the back of my head then back at me, "What is that on your head?"

I gave her a look because she was trying to not laugh. "A dragon dropped this on my head. Could you removed it?"

I bend my head over and she grabbed the folded up blanket from off my head and softly placed it on the ground. I stood back up as she unwrapped that blanket and there in the blanket was a little human hatchling. As my mate leaned down to nudge the human hatchling, the human hatchling showed no fear and grabbed my mate's muzzle and cuddled into it. Zargus got the little hatchling to let go.

She looked at me, "Can we keep him?"

"No! He has to be with his own kind." I told her.

Zargus got this look on her face, "I have always been a good alpha female, right?" I nodded. She continued, "So, when I say, can we keep him what I am really saying is…"

She suddenly has me up against the floor and not in a good way with her razor sharp teeth in my face. She yells, "WE ARE KEEPING HIM! DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT?" I was scared and my mate scared me. I shook my head and say that we can keep the human hatchling. Then, she gets off me and becomes the loving alpha female again. 'She is really scary when she acts like that.'

Zargus looks at the blanket and saw writing. "Tarasa. Do you know what this says?"

I look at it and it was written in the human language Norse. I could barely make out what it says. "I think it says...Hiccup. That must be his name." It was a strange name, but not the worst I have ever heard out of the viking mouth.

Zargus smiled, "Hiccup...I like it."

She lifts him up and places him on the nest by a black egg. I see Hiccup looking at the egg and then he starts to rub the egg. I really hope the egg hatches. I couldn't bare to see my mate unhappy and the egg was late hatching.

Crack! Crack! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The egg started cracking. We waited just a little bit longer and then a snout pops out followed by paws and wings and a tail. The egg finally part fully in the middle opening it up. A little black Night Fury dragon was in it and before we could stop him, Hiccup went up to the little dragon hatchling and wrapped his arms around him. The baby dragon looked at Hiccup and cuddled into him. He opened his mouth and we were surprised to find that his teeth weren't out.

"Toothless. Huh?" Said Zargus as we both watched as the little human and little dragon cuddle up together and went to sleep.

"Toothless and Hiccup." I said as Zargus shook her head at me, but agreed.

Me: Better huh?

Hiccup: Yeah, so I had to touch the egg for it to hatch?

Me: Yup. You were born early and Toothless was late. Read and review. Tell me if this is better. 1841 words.
