TWO YEARS LATER

Hermione laughed as they walked through Central Park. She was looking down at her mobile as Peter Parker, the boy they had been mentoring for the last two years as he came into his own with his powers, texted her a series of emojis and gifs. He was going into the city for a field trip, and was not looking forward to it.

"What's so funny?" Tony asked, peeking over her shoulder.

"Peter," she said. "He's sending me a lot of different annoyed emojis."

"Field trip day?" Tony asked.

She nodded. "Yes. For a kid who turned you down to become an Avenger in favor of having a normal childhood he sure complains about the normalcy of said childhood."

Tony laughed. "I envy him and his normal childhood. And I want to make sure that he continues to have that normal childhood."

"Well, as normal as he can, having you in his life," Hermione replied. "Is he going to meet us for dinner before we need to head back to London?"

Tony nodded, handing her her tea he bought from the street vendor. "Yes," he said. "And May is going to join him, so we need to play the roles of billionaire inventor and his internationally famous chemist wife, not Iron Man and Brightest Witch of her Age."

"Got it," she said. "Did he say why May was coming with him this time?"

"Baby gift," he said. "Kid can't keep his trap shut, and now May wants to shower you with presents."

Hermione laughed, running her hand down her growing bump. It had taken a while, but after they had sufficiently mourned the loss of their last pregnancy, and then Tony spent a lot of time in therapy coming to terms with what had happened to his parents and with Steve and the team, they had finally decided to try and expand their family. Especially after spending so much time with Peter and mentoring him brought out a uniquely paternal side in Tony. And now they were halfway through their pregnancy and Hermione had traveled with Tony to New York for the first time since she had found out.

"She can shower me with presents, I'm not going to argue with that. But I can't wait until Peter is of age next year, then maybe we can tell May he's Spiderman and stop these duel personalities."

"Tell me about it," Tony said, wrapping is arm around Hermione's shoulders as they walked.

"Anything else you want to do while we're in New York?" Tony asked.

She shook her head. "No, I'm good. I'm enjoying this. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've been to the park."

Tony gasped. "That's right! We lived very sequestered lives in our Tower when we lived here."

"We did," Hermione agreed.

"We'll have to change that when the baby is here," Tony said. "We need to show him all the sites. He needs to know his other home."

"He will," Hermione said. "We'll make sure of it."

"Do you think he'll have a British accent? Because kids with British accents are adorable, like the nieces and nephews. Pretty sure the only reason they get away with so much around me is because they sound too fucking adorable."

Hermione laughed. Now that they lived in London almost full time, they had become very close with all the Weasley kids, and Tony had claimed them as family. Life was amazing being in London full time, and traveling to New York every once in a while to check in on Rhodey's recovery and some training of the Avengers. But mostly they lived a quiet life in their flat in London.

"Tony, if we're raising him in London, he's going to have an accent."

"Good, let's make sure we don't spend too much time here, so we don't confuse him and he has some bastardized accent."

"Tony," Hermione said, laughing. "Things are going to be fine. I think accents are the least of our worries. We need to make sure he doesn't have our impulse control issues and thrill seeking genes."

"Oh, fuck, yeah. No thrill seeking."

Hermione laughed, and placed her head on his shoulder, and sighed. Things were good. Life was slow and boring and perfect. She couldn't think of a better way for life to be right now. Semi-retirement suited Tony. If you could call developing an Iron Man suit that could fit inside the arc reactor that was now permanently attached to his chest as being semi-retired.

Tony stopped walking abruptly, causing her to stumble on her feet.

"What's wrong?" she asked, looking up at Tony, who was concentrating at something in the sky.

She followed his eye line and felt her stomach drop. There, floating in the sky was a circular, alien ship. Aliens were back in New York. So much for boring, slow and semi-retired. They were going to be back in the game.

Without saying anything, Tony kissed Hermione before activating his suit and taking off toward the alien ship. Hermione watched until her husband became a dot on the horizon before apparating back to London where she would wait for this new mission to be over. And for their family to be reunited.

That's it! This story is finally complete! Thank you everyone who has followed this story from the beginning, nearly three years ago, and stuck with it while I finished it! I don't have another WIP planned just yet, but I'm sure I will soon. I participated in Magically Marvelous's BINGO, and now that it's over, I'm going to start cross posting a bunch of one shots, so if you're interested in those (one of which could be read as an extension of this story), make sure you subscribe to get author alerts!

I hope you enjoyed this story, and please let me know your final thoughts!
