The next day, at school, Cokie came to me. She fixed her hair.
"Hi," said Cokie.
"Um, hi, Cokie," I said.
"What are you up to?" asked Cokie.
"Nothing. I have a group night out for pizza," I said.
"Can I come?" asked Cokie.
"You're not even invited," I said.
"That's a mistake," said Cokie.
"No error," I said as I walked away to class.
"Fine," Cokie mumbled.
She has a way to get to me and she knows I had no interest in her.
At lunch, Mary Anne came to me and said, "What did Cokie want?"
"She wanted to go out as a group night out and I told her she wasn't invited," I said.
"Good," said Mary Anne. "It's rude to invite yourself."
"I agree," I said. "Mom said she'll pick you and Dawn up."
"Sounds wonderful," said Mary Anne. "Sharon and Dad are going out anyway."
That night, I got ready to go out.
"Are you ready?" asked Mom.
"I am," I replied.
"I'll be getting Mary Anne and Dawn on the way," said Mom.
"I already told her anyway," I said.
"Good," said Mom.
Then, we left to pick Mary Anne and Dawn up as we went to the pizza restaurant. When we got there, everyone was there including the Happy Day characters, Fonzie, Jenny, Richie, Ralph, Chachi, Howard, Potsie, and Marion.
"Hi, everyone," I said.
"Hi. Good to see you again," said Richie.
"Where's Al?" I asked.
"He can't make it. He had a family emergency," said Chachi.
"He lost his cousin," said Mary Anne.
"Wow. Tell him we're so sorry to hear that," said Claudia.
"We will," said Jenny.
"We're talking about sending a sympathy card to him," said Mallory.
"That's a nice idea," said Ralph.
"He'll be very happy to get that," added Fonzie.
"We wanted to talk to you before we do that," said Kaylee.
"We want to be a surprise, so I don't want him to know," said Mallory.
"Our lips are sealed," said Howard.
"I'll get a card and we'll have the BSC signing it," said Mary Anne.
"Sounds like a good plan," said Potsie.
"I'll have Kayla sign it before that since she can't attend any more meetings," said Mary Anne.
"How is she doing these days?" asked Howard.
"Good. She couldn't make it tonight. She had Chemo. She gets dizzy, weak, and nauseous, but my mom gave me a night off from watching my siblings so I can join you. She's home anyway," said Kaylee.
"She doesn't like being cooped up in the house," added Mary Anne.
"I don't blame her," said Fonzie.
"But she still can school so far," said Mary Anne.
"That's good," said Chachi.
"Oh, I have diabetes now, but I can manage it just fine," said Mary Anne.
"Good," said Jenny.
Mary Anne and Stacey ordered what they can have. Either of them can have process cheese.
"Oh, yeah, my father just left my family," said Kaylee. "Mom doesn't know where he is. He left out of the blue."
"That sounds tough. How are you making out?" asked Fonzie.
"Kayla and I are a bit angry," said Kaylee.
"That's normal," said Jenny.
"I knew how they felt. My father did the same thing a long time ago," said Kristy.
"It's a good to support when you went through it," said Jenny.
"Yes," said Kristy.
"And, now, her mom will be a single parent to all of her eight kids, including a sick daughter," said Mary Anne.
"That's even worse," said Ralph.
"Tell me about it," agreed Kaylee.
"But I plan to help out when her mom needs me for anything," said Mary Anne.
"We're lucky to have her," said Kaylee.
"Which is good," said Howard.
"A divorce is never easy for anyone," said Dawn.
After we had dinner, we all shared a sundae. Mary Anne and Stacey shared one with sugar free vanilla, which was fair enough. After we were done and our bills have been paid, I called Mom to tell her we were ready. She came for us in no time. After we said our goodbyes, we left.
"Do you need a ride, Kaylee?" asked Mom.
"Sure. I planned to do so to save Mom time," said Kaylee.
"Okay," said Mom. "I don't mind doing it if she can't."
"It would be better than leaving Kayla alone while she's dizzy," said Kaylee. "I'll call her to let her know."
That's what she did and it was all set after that. We left afterwards.
"Thanks for the ride," said Kaylee.
"No problem, dear," said Mom. "Tell your mom I'll be happy to do it whenever Kayla has Chemo."
"Okay," said Kaylee.
After we brought the girls home, they thanked us and went home. We had a fun time.

e phone call, I decided it was time for bed. It was a good day.
