Hello, everyone. Despite having Winchester Hellfire canceled, I thought I would share additional chapters that I saved before making the decision to create the reboot. I am still working on Winchester Embers, do not worry, please forgive me for making you all wait. I thank you all for following my works, following me, favoriting me and favoriting my stories. I don't want you all to feel as though I don't appreciate it, but I suppose the only way to show that is by getting the next official chapter for Winchester Embers. Let's fix that.
Anyways, enjoy this short saved chapter that belonged to Winchester Hellfire.
Hope. The very object that guides forth warriors to reach their goals, to knock down any obstacle set in front of them. When one runs out of their source of grit, they begin to decay as time goes on. Soon, they fall.
The room was filled with empty beds, separated by white curtains for each one. Only one patient was settled by herself in the Hospital Wing. Night time was already in motion, 11:00 to be exact. Unfortunately for her, the night had proved to be against her as stirred restlessly in the bed. By what, some may wonder.
The reason for ending up there was due to a sparring match went horribly wrong and yet, fairly planned to be expected of the inevitable results. Now for someone with her skills on hand-to-hand combat, it was almost so rare to be bested and beaten to a pulp from the likes of an enemy she had already confronted. A certain boy who was once an egotistical conflicted boy who bullied mainly the Faunus.
Perhaps it was knowing she was defeated by him that had kept her up? No, in fact, that didn't happen to be the case. Though it still did had to relate to this certain person that she hated so much. Instead of loathing in a personal grudge against him, it was rather a fierce storm of curiosity and confusion of his second disappearance.
Approximately two weeks back, news had swept over the academy that morning of reports of a student being missing, or specifically... Kidnapped.
Every single teenage attendee had mainly felt no remorse or sympathy for hearing about the alarming truth. Although, a certain group that had become familiar with the certain male student had experienced a great loss. Believe it or not, there were those who had actually cared deeply for this student. So much so, they were the closest thing to a family for him.
Family... such a strange term.
As for Yang, she simply found it as great news to know the "Bully of Beacon," had gone absent from the grounds unexpectedly. Though, she could only hold onto the feeling for so long. Come in due time, it was rather more of a mystery to her as to how and why. So much so that her juvenile pride had vanished and was replaced with an urge to find out the truth behind it all.
'But why?'
Her thoughts consisted of confusion and utter disbelief in knowing her focus was targeted towards such a scumbag. Just his name and being was a bad influence. Apparently, he always has been.
All Yang wanted was to get some sleep for Christ sake.
Another student stayed up as well, restless with puffy eyes that showed great exhaustion and pain. The red in her orbs were a tad lighter than that of her hair color, showing signs of possibly spending more than just a day of sorrow filled mourning. The same could be said for the younger child who lay in the bed next to her, a frown formed upon her face even as she slept.
During his absence, both girls had wept together since they were all they had left. Compared to her original team, Annie was the only one who didn't view their ally as a monster. Speaking of her teammates, once the news of the Bully disappearing had reached them, two members shared one emotion whilst the 'leader' was all but destroyed for the loss.
Afterward, an argument brewed during one evening for the four students. Let's just say, they could never be considered as one anymore. The tension was especially boiling between Nikos and Arc. Hell, even the blonde poor excuse as a friend got a taste of what Pyrrha held back from him from weeks of abuse.
She could remember it all too clearly.
Two Days after the Incident
A sets of knocks came upon their door, alerting three members of team JNPR, their best fighter meanwhile busy with comforting little Annie who was rocked in Pyrrha's arms. Leave it to Jaune to be the one to allow whoever inside only to reveal the visitor to be headmaster Ozpin accompanied by Ms. Glynda Goodwitch. Lie Ren, although, wasn't surprised to see the two.
Taking her eyes off of the now somewhat soothed girl, Nikos turned her head sideways to spot the adults, immediately perking up.
"P-professor Ozpin, what are you doing here?" asked Jaune, seemingly still retaining his habits of being an oblivious nitwit.
Normally, the headmaster would carry a mug to quench his constant thirst. This moment, however, was an exception. In fact, if any of the teens were to notice, they could very well see his left fist, clenching tightly to the point where the knuckles were already turning white. Never, ever, a good sign.
No immediate response came from the silver-haired Huntsmen, for he was only fixated to the ground that they stood on. Lost, lost in another world. Perhaps in one where he could have stopped it all. Someplace to where he wouldn't have to pass by a dorm room that housed a lone little girl, shedding a waterfall of stinging tears.
Somehow, Pyrrha could just tell that the rest of the day was only going to be worse before it could get any better.
If only she could swallow the incoming lump beginning to form in her throat. Already?
As for everyone else, they too were already startled by the silence. Being the only one who could digest the situation, Goodwitch stepped forward to be the bearer of dreadful news.
"As you all know of the missing status of Mr. Winchester, we've come to report that..." she stopped halfway through, finding it even difficult for herself to deliver the truth. Normally those eyes of hers would remain stern, given that she was for having a no-nonsense attitude. Though, just like Ozpin, the night of losing one student to whoever had drastically changed her.
"The evidence collected proves enough that Cardin has been abducted by someone, more likely a group of people. Local authorities have yet to have a proper lead onto the situation."
If the news was meant to soothe Pyrrha just as closure, it surely failed in doing so. Instead, she only hugged Annie tighter in her embrace as the younger girl could weep in anguish.
Goodwitch finally lowered her gaze downwards to her own dismay. Though, out of everyone in the room, only one person didn't possess any similar emotions.
"Is it really so bad?"
Each individual directed their attention to Jaune who stood in the middle of the room. The two adults and Pyrrha knew their hearing was in no way mistaken, in fact, the Huntsmen and Huntress both shared angered expressions. Gritted teeth and glares sent directly at Arc who felt a bit of shiver from the way they eyed him.
"What?" asked the blonde male who didn't seem to understand.
The ninja of team JNPR stepped forward with Nora in tow in attempts to converse with their leader in private. Unfortunately for Ren, it was the headmaster who beat him to it.
The cracking of knuckles upon gripping his cane tightly followed with the shaking of Ozpin's body clearly due to anger. "Mr... Arc... You hold your tongue regarding Cardin... From now on!" he shouted at the end.
The guilty boy backed up slightly, taken back as evident on his face. The feeling would only last for so long, as Jaune stood his ground.
"Why? All that loser did was make people feel shitty and didn't you see what he did to Yang? He almost killed her, how can you let that.. that.." he searched for his next insult to classify the missing male, clearly showing his sheer stupidity.
"Mr. Arc, do not even finish that sentence!" warned Goodwitch fiercely, almost obliging to using her weapon.
"Hey, I'm not the one who thought we should let some freak like him at this school. He's not human! He's like a devil who's disguised as a guy!"
Annie could feel the sudden absence of Pyrrha's presence within the snap of a finger. An abrupt crash of a body being slammed against the wall made everyone's eyes widen, save except for Ozpin. Everyone else occupying the room couldn't believe how quickly of what had now just transpired.
Regret and immediate confusion plagued Jaune's thoughts as he could suddenly feel his throat being gripped by death.
No one else could move, it was just too much for them to process.
JNPR's leader gasped for air while staring into the crazed, infuriated, bloodshot, emerald eyes.
Before he could use his brain power to find his words in order for her to stop, her fist was drawn back to then strike the boy square in the nose in a second. It certainly stunned Arc but didn't even know he was being pummeled nonstop in the same spot until being thrown down harshly upon the wooden floor, stomach first.
Soon he felt himself being turned on his back as the quick blur of her hand reached forward and found itself in his mouth, gagging him. Now he was nearly on the verge of pissing himself.
"You..." came nearly faint voice of Nikos."You..." slowly, she grew a little louder until...
"YOU MOTHERFUCKING COWARDLY PIECE OF SHIT!"
Each of everyone else's ears winced at the venomous uproar that came from Pyrrha as they all felt a sudden chill down their spines. Never had they ever seen or predicted this side of the Champion. Though then again, they already saw changes from Cardin before. What else could they expect from now on?
"I'll KILL YOU FOR SAYING THAT! IT'S YOU WHO WON'T BE MISSED WHEN YOU'RE DEAD! NOT AT ALL, ARC! YOU PATHETIC, WEAK EXCUSE OF-"
She stopped herself by gripping Jaune by his messed up hair tightly to get him to hear her. Any Ursa would simply not dare to challenge Pyrrha due to her deathly aura flooding the room, especially when the whizzing golden and crimson metal projectile found itself in her now free hand. He could only focus intently on the sharp point that was aimed at his eyeball.
That what was took both her teammates to rush forward and seize each of her arms.
"Pyrrha, stop! Dont'!" pleaded Nora who was actually terrified what could happen next.
"Come on, you don't want to do this, Pyrr-"
"AAAAAAAAARRGH!"
A sudden boost of incredible and abnormal strength in Pyrrha jerking herself out of their grip had propelled the two back, ending with them landing against the window, cracking it.
Tears began to stream down Annie's face as she could only sit back, trembling in stricken fear at the scene unraveling in front of her very eyes.
"DIE YOU SON OF A BITCH!" slowly Miló inched its way to piercing Jaune's white optic. It was only when a pair of small gripping hands upon Pyrrha's shoulder did it force her to turn around at breakneck speed to see who dared to stop her.
Heavy breathing came from her, as she slowly began to lose the immense hate plastering her facial features. Soon, she was already realizing what she was doing by having to read it off her younger friend's quivering lip and silent sobbing.
"...no more..." came the silent pleading of Annie, who's eyes were squinted to stop tearing up. Her voice nearly sounding defeated and almost shrill.
A sudden gasp escaped from the redhead's mouth, dropping her weapon that *clanked* onto the floor.
Ozpin had been one to being brought to these times of plight, for he had experienced almost too much in all of his years of existence. Loss, bedlam, death, and change were the ingredients to harden him and yet, he strived to become a source of hope to the exact same students he taught. Yet, here he was now, saying nothing as one the most skilled warriors was fraught with despair and nearly killing a deadbeat.
"Just, please... no more, Pyrrha."
Her hands were unsteady as they reached to bring the younger adolescent to console her. Annie wasted no time in burying her face in Niko's shoulder, shaking and thankful it was over.
If only the other girl herself could be relieved, but she wasn't in the slightest. Anger soon became sadness, leaving only pain to swell in her aching heart as she profusely begged for Annie's forgiveness as she held her in a death hold. The comments surrounding, "I'm so sorry," repeated.
...
Cardin, where are you?
