...Well, there's something I haven't typed in a while.

"And I have plans for that giant snowcone machine in the garage somewhere. Let me go find them..."

"Phineas, you need to take a breather."

"Oh yeah, that reminds me. I had the blueprints for the S.C.U.B.A. gear that does your homework for you. We'll call it the 'Breathe Write'. Get it, because it's a pun."

Isabella turned to the redhead's brother, who was busy reading a book on the couch. "Are you going to do anything to calm him down?"

Just a shrug from Ferb.

She sighed loudly. It was not unlike her best friend to go off the rails for his Big Ideas, but this was different. He was going into overdrive.

And it was only the second week of January.

Isabella was going to have to do something drastic.

"Phineas, please calm down. You have the whole year to do what you want."

She was surprised to see him whirl around, a couple of blueprints flying in random directions. "You don't understand, Isabella! I told myself that I would get a lot more things done this year. Do you know how many minutes there are in a year?"

"...No?"

"Five hundred twenty five thousand nine hundred and forty-eight. And three quarters," he gasped.

"Give or take."

Phineas peered around her shoulder to glare at his stepbrother, and turned back to Isabella. "You see? I have so little time to get everything done. My New Year's resolution this year was to do even more things. I can only do that if I don't waste a single second of t-"

He stopped, not because he had to think about the large number of minutes in a year, but because Isabella had her arms around in a hug. Momentarily stunned, he forgot everything he was about to say.

"And you know what my resolution was?"

"What?" he muttered.

Isabella bent back, smiling. "Making sure you don't die from a heart attack or exhaustion. It would be a shame to lose you at the ripe old age of ten."

Phineas grinned. "You're right. I almost lost myself there for a second. What would I do without you, Isabella?"

"Continue to make bad puns?"

The two of them laughed for a moment, bringing an end to Phineas' brief freakout.

"Tell you what," Isabella said. "We'll compromise. Pick ONE thing that you really want to do, and we'll try to knock it out today."

"Sweet! I know just the thing!" Phineas turned to head toward the garage. "Be right back!"

Isabella's grin couldn't help but get wider. This was the boy that she liked being around. Happy. Not stressed. Carefree.

Who knew what this year was going to bring for him...and her?

"When are you going to tell Phineas your actual New Year's Resolution?" the voice said behind her.

"Quiet, you."

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I learned two things today.

One...I have been away for quite a while.

Two...there are a lot of minutes in a year. Even more if it's a leap year.

OK, three. I tend to write Ferb more sarcastically than others. And I don't really mind.

Hopefully more to come in the future. Of course, I've been saying that a lot.

We'll see.

Read and review, if you like. Until next time.
