Loud beeps were heard around the peaceful room, as the alarm clock went off. Grumpy moans were escaped from a sleepy girl. Giving up, the girl got up and threw it across the room. Oh Ha Ni was not much of an alarm person. She goes to the bathroom to wash up and put her hair up in a bun. She went inside her room and dressed in her white dress nurse uniform and slipped on her white ballet flats. Walking into her kitchen, she made herself a to-go breakfast that included some apple juice and a bagel. The young women looked around the lonely room and sighed.
Oh Ha Ni was a 21 year old nurse working at small nearby hospital. Ha Ni isn't the brightest person, but with her determination she was able to graduate early and get her nursing license. Her small apartment was close by to the hospital, which made it convenient . Ha Ni lived alone, so it was always quiet. She moved out of her dads noodle shop, as she felt she was just troublesome on her hard working father, he insisted she was not, but she felt bad either way. She never really minded being alone because she was never really home, other than to sleep or relax. It was at times like these, she wished she could share times with someone special.
Ha Ni looked at her watch and decided it was time to leave or she'd be late. She locked the door and ran to the bus stop.
Ha Ni was at the reception desk working on some paper work, when the head nurse came in. She started scolding Ha Ni for coming into to work late. It was only a few seconds, Ha Ni thought sulkingly.
"Just try to come in on time! So annoying," muttered the head nurse as she walked back to her office.
"It was only a few seconds. She didn't have to be like that," pouted Ha Ni, to which the other nurses snickered at. Ha Ni looked at them and puffed out her cheek, how embarrassing she thought. Ha Ni sighed in relief as it was her much needed lunch break. As she was grabbing her stuff, she was instantly ushered by the head nurse.
"Nurse Oh, there's a shortage of nurses here in the hospital, I'm going to need you to have a couple of patients I want you to visit regularly."
As the head nurse kept talking, Ha Ni's breath caught in her throat, if it was from excitement or sheer terror was anybody's guess. This would be her first time as a solo nurse and no one there to guide her through.
This was the opportunity that she was waiting for.
As Ha Ni kept daydreaming, the nurse snapped her fingers in frustration, which made Ha Ni snap out of her daydream. The head nurse sighed as she gave out the names of her patients. One particular name stuck out.
