Chapter Ten: Settling In

About an hour later everyone found themselves back at the tower. Hiccup, Harry and Vanellope sat on the couch while Jack was checking out the kitchen.

"So you four are…?" asked Clint as he looked at the kids. "Yep," Harry said. "And he's…?" The archer continued, giving a quick glance at the glaring Loki. "That's right," chirped Vanellope. "And none of you knew until…?"

"You got it. Jack could you stop eating for five seconds?" Hiccup called out. The white haired teen peeked over the door to the fridge, in his arms was a bunch of food. "I can't help it I'm hungry," he mumbled around a half eaten banana.

"Well since someone didn't tell me about this little family reunion, I don't have any extra rooms…" Tony started to say before Natasha cut him off.

"Tony you're literally a billionaire and live in a multi-story tower, and you're telling me you don't have any extra rooms?" Said billionaire glanced sideways to her with a slight pout. "If you would have let me finish. I was going to say I don't have any extra rooms ready. But give me a day and you can all have your own rooms."

"Actually I don't mind sharing," Vanellope said. The boys nodded in agreement. "All right let me show you where you five are going to crash tonight," Tony said standing up. "Five?" questioned Loki.

"It's this or the couch, take your pick. Then again there's always that lovely crater you left the last time you were here," Tony said grinning.

While he felt bad for the kids he couldn't help but want payback for being thrown out of his own window. "Come on it's only for one night how bad can it… be? Oh you have got to be kidding me," Jack stated his grin fading when he saw the room. There was only one bed. "Wish to rethink that last statement?" Loki mocked.

"It's like Jack said, it's only for one night and it's not like any of us kick right?"Vanellope asked. "Don't know," Jack said as he smirked at the God of Mischief. "Try it and you'll find yourself out of this bed faster than you can blink," Loki growled.

"Well good night, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite," called out Tony as he left. "If you are going to change, I suggest you do it now," Loki stated as he snapped his fingers. A second later he was wearing a green short sleeve shirt and comfy black pants as well as barefooted. "Into what? In case you haven't noticed some of us are lacking in the clothes department," Jack said as he pulled off his hoodie to revile a white tank-top. It was all he could do for pajamas. "Not…my….problem." Loki said slowly.

"Hey noticed your luggage was looking a little on the small side so tomorrow I'm taking you kids shopping," Clint said. "You mean we're taking them shopping," Natasha said as she stood against the doorframe. "Nat you don't have to…," Clint started to say. "Clint, do you honestly see yourself spending any time in the girls section?" she asked. "Noted. We will take you shopping. In the meantime I managed to scrounge these together," he said handing the kids a small assortment.

After the two left, the kids continued to get ready. It was a bit of a fight for all of them to get in the bed. But somehow they managed to do it with a bit of squeezing.

"Whosever knee that is, could you kindly get it out of my back," Hiccup said. "Sorry," Harry whispered. "Jack your feet are freezing," Vanellope yelped. "Sorry can't help it," he laughed.

"Will you all go to sleep now!" Loki shouted. "Well someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning," Jack said with a smirk. "I said now," Loki growled before turning over. Morning could not come fast enough.

It was still early when Loki felt a weight on his arm. Looking down he could see Jack's hand had fallen on his wrist. Yet his eyes widened when he saw his skin was slowly turning blue. And not just any blue, Frost giant blue. Loki yanked his arm away so fast he fell out of the bed and hit his back against a small table. Jack groggily picked his head up, not really awake.

"Huh? What's going on?" he asked. "It's nothing Jack, go back to sleep" Loki said forcefully. The boy nodded and quickly fell back asleep. Loki stared at his hand, glad to see it had gone back to normal. "Could the boy be more like me than I thought?" he questioned silently, knowing he would have to keep his distance.

"What's with all the food we expecting company?" Tony asked when he came down that morning and saw Bruce cooking. "Tony, don't tell me you don't remember," he said. "Wait, so that means last night wasn't a dream?" Tony asked as he saw the five new additions to the tower.

"Morning kids," Bruce said as the four sat down. He then placed a plate in front of each of them. "This is for me?" asked Harry. "It's for all of you dig in," Bruce said. "Harry you've got to try this," Jack called out through a mouthful then swallowed. "It's delicious." Harry looked down at his plate and took a small bite. The young wizard's eyes lit up and he began to eat like he was starving.

"You sure these are your kids? With those manners I put my money on Thor," Tony joked as Loki walked into the room. He growled at Tony before grabbing an apple and walking back out. "Oh come on it was just a joke you don't have to be so sensitive!"Tony called after him. The only answer being the slam of a door "

Drama queen," Tony mumbled. "Tony do you really have to agonize him this early?" asked Steve. "If the guy was going to try and kill me he would have done it already." "Why would daddy try to kill you?" Vanellope asked. "Nice going," whispered Clint. "It's just an expression, it means he's working on his last nerve. Kind of like what he's doing with me right now," Natasha said. "Oh, okay" Vanellope said and went back to eating.

"You dodged a bullet there. Kids hear everything. Even when you think they're not listening they are," Clint said. "You sound like you know a lot about kids," Tony observed. "More than you," Clint said with a smirk. "And what's that supposed to mean?" Tony asked. "You're the genius you figure it out."

It wasn't long before the group was at the store. Natasha and Vanellope headed for the girl section, while Clint told the boys to find something they liked. Hiccup and Jack walked of in searching. But Harry hung back. When Clint tried to engage Harry in picking out cloths he simply got that Harry 'was fine with what he had', and 'didn't want to be a bother.'

From where he stood Jack could see what was happening and felt bad for his little brother. "Harry! Check it out!" he called holding up a red t-shirt. "That's nice Jack, but I don't think it's your color, or size for that matter," Harry said smiling. "Not me, you. Look it even has your lion think on it. Now come on, help me find something I'll look good in." With that Harry finally started to pick out clothes. Though he was once again hesitant when they ordered lunch. Jack once again managing to talk him into getting something, "That's it? Come on, live a little. Hey, if you order the combo deluxe and I'll split it with you."

As they returned to the tower, Jack confided with Clint that he believed Harry might have been abused. The flinching, hesitant to ask for anything. Not to mention the bruise Jack had seen the night before. One of a hand on his shoulder. Right then the two made a silent promise, that they would keep Harry safe, no matter what.

"Perfect timing," Tony called when they got back. He then showed the three new rooms. The first was for Vanellope and Harry, and right next to it with a connecting door was Jack and Hiccup's room. Across the hall and a few doors down was a room set aside for Loki. "Close enough for the kids, but far enough away from us," he said. As the kids started to plan how to decorate their rooms, most of the avengers left the hall. Only Clint remained. "I suppose it is adequate," Loki stated looking inside. "Would it kill you to be nice, just once?" Clint asked. "Possibly," Loki growled still angry over the exploding arrow.

"You have been a grade A jerk since you got here, even to those kids. If you don't do something and soon you're going to lose them." Loki looked at the archer with a bored stare. "You speak as if I care. Let me make it clear to you. I…do…not," Loki then entered the room and slammed the door, just missing hitting Clint in the face. "I'm surprised you're still breathing. What with that shriveled up thing you call a heart!" Clint yelled before stomping away.

Loki looked around the room and scoffed at how bare it was. With a snap of his fingers the room transformed into the one he used to have on Asgard. Sitting on the bed Loki glanced at the binding on his wrist. "Weakened until I prove worthy. I suppose Odin thinks himself clever. Giving me the same punishment as his oaf of a son. So this is to be my cell for the time being." Loki laid down on the bed and stretched out. "Well I'll say one thing, at lease this one is comfortable.
