The proposal

A/N: One shot inspired by the song "Halo" (piano cover by Madilyn Bailey) originally by Beyoncé.

"You saved me,"

"From what?" Reagan held Amy's hand in hers.

"A lifetime of misery and solitude."

"Why do you say that?" Amy asked.

"Because it's true," Reagan was on the brink of tears, "because you mean the world to me."

"When you say that, it kind of scares me," Amy admitted and she felt overwhelmed.

"I'm not perfect," she said.

"Nobody's perfect, but you're perfect for me," Reagan held Amy's other hand and they stood there facing each other.

"I thought that I'd never love again but you showed me that it was possible to open up, to be vulnerable again,"

Reagan looked into Amy eyes, "and to tear down the walls that I had built around my heart."

"I know," Amy squeezed her hands lightly.

"I lay all my cards on the table,"

"I know how it's like to be without you and I don't want to live that way again."

Reagan let go of Amy's hands to remove something inside her leather jacket.

She dropped on one knee and she opened the small velvet box that contained a diamond ring.

Amy stood there speechless.

"Shrimps, I think it was love-at-first-sight the moment I laid eyes on you. And letting you go was a huge mistake. During the time that we were apart, I realised that you were the one for me – the love of my life. Honey, I want to make you happy."

"Amy Raudenfeld will you marry me?"

Reagan's eyes were hopeful and she had put everything out there. Her heart was thumping and she was proud of herself for not chocking on her words.

She had planned to propose to Amy during a nice candle lit dinner but the moment felt right.

"Yes," Amy replied with happy tears in her eyes.

Reagan stood up and she placed the ring on Amy's finger – it was a perfect fit.

They leaned into each other for a kiss that left both of them breathless.

"Shrimps,"

"Reagan,"

"I love you."

"I love you too."
