A/N: So I thought we all needed a pick me up considering yesterday's result, and if you are fine with the election than please disregard this author's note because I am not. It's been less than a day and already at my college there has been an active hate group encouraging violent and criminal crimes against us (the minorities). I'm very disappointed that this election seems to be acting as a catalyst to incite blatant bigotry. I had hoped that this wouldn't happen, feared that it might, and now, I am just praying that it'll pass.
This story goes out to nolauser.
Papa says I have grandma's smile. Mama says that's why papa tickles me before tucking me in for bed. She says it's because it makes papa extra happy to see his own mama in me.
What they don't know is that I don't need to be tickled to smile for papa.
Papa says I have mama's eyes. Mama argues that that's not true. She says my eyes are prettier and…childlike! That's the word she used! Yes, mama says that her eyes can't compare to mine.
What they don't know is that my eyes can't compare to hers only because hers are better than mine. Her eyes are the best!
Oba Tatsuki says I look just like papa except that I'm more handsome. When she told papa that, he rolled his eyes at her and said he didn't care if she thought he was handsome or not. Mama agreed with Oba-chan as she cooked breakfast. Mama looked at papa as he stuck out his tongue, and then she stuck out her tongue right back, making Oba-chan laugh. Then he got up from the table and hugged mama and gave her a kiss on her head. And then he smiled at her. One of those soft ones that Aunty Yuzu says that papa only uses for me and mama. The smile that Aunty Karin teases papa for using.
What they don't know is that papa is the handsomest! Especially when he smiles like that!
Tio Chad says that I'm strong. Says that I will be stronger than papa when I tackled him, and then I asked who was stronger: him or papa. He didn't pause. He said papa was, and papa shoved him and told him not to lie to his kid. I asked what papa meant, but Tio just lifted me on his shoulders and told me that he'll tell me when I'm older.
What they don't know is that they don't have to tell me. Papa will always be the strongest.
Oji Uryū says my personality is like mama's. He says I'll be a handful for mama and papa. When mama heard that, she crossed her arms and asked him if she was a handful. He pushed up his glasses and went back to teaching me the easiest trick to thread a needle.
What they don't know is that I want to be like mama. If I'm like mama, I'll always be surrounded by love.
Uncle Renji and Aunt Rukia say that I'm going to be a punk just like papa. They say I'm going to be too de-de-determined! And stubborn, too! Papa clicked his tongue and told them that he wouldn't accept the words of a midget and a baboon.
What they don't know is that I wouldn't mind being a punk if it meant that I would have friends like papa.
Grandpa says that I've made mama and papa the happiest people he has ever seen. He said this to me when he snuck me out of school to get some ice cream and to go to the park. He also said that I should keep our "ditching" a secret from papa, but papa found out, and he scolded grandpa. But he wasn't mad. Papa was hiding his smile.
What they don't know is that grandpa is wrong. Mama and papa aren't the happiest. I am.
Papa says that mama is his sun and that I am his world. I asked him what he meant, but he said I wouldn't understand just yet. He said that he'll tell me when I fall in love and have a child of my own, which "better not be happening anytime soon."
What he doesn't know is that I think I understand him because mama and papa are my own suns. And I have already fallen in love because I love mama and papa with all my heart.
