Julie pulled Mike aside. "I need to tell you something," she said twisting her hands together.

She began, "I'm . . ." and then she stopped, unable to continue. Mike decided to help her along. "If it's about you and Kane, I already figured it out."

"You did?" Julie stared at him dumbfounded.

"It was kinda obvious," Mike replied. He'd been Kane's favorite before; he knew the signs.

"And you're not mad?" she seemed almost confused by that.

"Why would I be mad?" He asked. It was nothing he hadn't done and she had the sense not to be swept away by hero worship.

The next moment she grabbed the front of his jacket, pulled him down and kissed him. All rational thought fled Mike's mind. Then the garage alarms sounded and they jumped apart. "Sorry, I got carried away" Julie said.

"Anytime," Mike replied. "But now we should see what's going on."

Julie headed for her car but then she turned back to look at him, happy but still a little uncertain. "So, we're good?"

"I'd say we're very good." He grinned at her. What had they been talking about again? Oh well, it couldn't have been anything important.
