A/N Hey everyone! So after the second episode of the season I found myself sad to know that Cat wouldn't be there anymore but i also couldn't help but feel like something was missing in Supergirl and Cat's goodbye. So I decided i would write what i wanted to see in that scene. Some quotes are taken directly from the show (They are italicized). I don't claim to have written them, all rights to the CW.
Anyway I hope you enjoy!
Cat Grant looked out over the city she considered home, she still couldn't believe that in just a few short hours she would be leaving the one place that ever felt like home to her, and the few people (other then Carter) that were her family.
She couldn't help but think about all the wonderful memories she's had in this city and all that the city had done for her.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Supergirl land on her balcony, she couldn't help but feel happier at the presence of this powerful women.
"You going to miss it?" Supergirl asked.
"Uh, who told you." Cat asked turning to the hero.
"Little bird."
"Little plane." Cat stopped for a moment considering her answer to Supergirls question, "Yes…Yes I will. I will miss CatCo everyday."
Supergirl took a breath, "Well I admire you, Miss Grant. It's scary leaving the life you've known." She walked around so she was standing closer to Cat.
"Hm, no I'm about to take a leap into the unknown and I'm thrilled. Do you have any idea how exciting not to know what I'm going to do tomorrow?" This caused the young hero to smile. "It's exhilarating."
Supergirl laughed before making her way over to Cat. "God, I wish I could do that sometimes. Start something new, be someone new."
"Well life is long and you will be many different people before the end. And knowing you every single one of them will be extraordinary, but not as extraordinary as me." Cat informed her.
"Oh, well of course not." The two woman turned and looked back out at the city. "That's very true Cat."
"Have I ever told you that my name is Catherine" Cat asked in one final attempted to get the young women next to her to tell her secret.
"I'm not telling you my real name." Supergirl responded immediately.
"Oh Supergirl, I don't need you to tell me your real name." Cat said taking the hero off guard. "I've know it was you since the first time I saw you in person during that interview."
"Ms. Grant," Supergirl began but Cat cut her off.
"Oh please Kara, you may be able to fool others but I know you. I've known you were special since the first time I met you at your interview." Cat looked over to Kara. "I'm still trying to figure out how you managed to make two of you appear but that one incident doesn't change the fact that you Kara Danvers is a hero."
"Cat I know you want to believe that I'm Kara Danvers, but I'm not." Kara lied.
"Don't lie to me. I'm about to leave, and plus why would I tell anyone?" Cat pointed out. "I haven't for this long so why would I now?"
Kara watched the Media Queen for a moment, unsure of what to say. "Ms. Grant Kara needs that job, you've already fired her because you though we were the same person."
"Kara, I'm not going to fire you." Cat stated. There was silence for a few moments before Cat spoke again.
"Be safe Kara." Cat said pulling the hero into a hug.
In that moment Kara didn't care if Cat knew, her boss and her friend was about to leave for who knows how long. "You too, Cat."
Kara pulled away and walked over to where she had first landed. "Come back Ms. Grant. It's great to have change and I know we all need it every once in a while, but you need friends too."
"Oh, I'll be back." Cat promised.
Kara took off from the balcony leaving Cat standing there alone. "Goodbye Kara."
