When you put just a little bit too much time into thinking... Originally just a simple prediction / speculation, I ended up writing a whole drabble about it..

"wE WiLL bEcoMe oNe!"

Yuya's heart was pounding.

The last thing he was conscious of was his victory with Reiji against his father, the enemy of the Lancers, Leo Akaba. As everything started to become a blur, he caught a glance of the worry in his father's eyes.

All that encompassed the atmosphere was a pitch-black void.

He wasn't the only one there – he and the other three were all sprawled over and struggling, as an unrecognizable shadow emitted a menacing dark energy.

That darkness had restrained them, threatening to consume the four of them.

"Like hell… I'd submit to something… as lowly as you!" Yuri growled weakly, clearly straining to resist the darkness' force.

"Damn it… I just wanted to see Rin – to save her! So close... I'm so close! I'm not going to let you stand in my way!" Yugo shouted as he pounded his fists down in frustration.

Yuto too was struggling against the darkness' oppressive energy, clutching onto his chest in pain.

"It's as if the more we resist… the more suffocating it becomes..!"

He was right. Even now, Yuya was having trouble breathing under the unnatural pressure of the void. Not a single one of them was able to stand up.

As each second passed, feeling like a painful eternity, Yuya had thought, coming to a realization.

If he and Yuto were right, then that darkness was Zarc. From what Leo had said, they were all once a part of Zarc, whom he had referred to as a "devil."

"I'm no demon!"

Yuya had remembered saying in defense to Leo's claims. But, if the four of them were once Zarc, then that would have meant that the "darkness" that was now suppressing them was a part of them all. However, together, each one of the boys resisted it, rejecting its pull.

So Yuya came to a conclusion, slowly crawling towards the source of the darkness.

He reached out with both hands into the shadow and smiled. Strange visions – no, glimpses of Zarc's feelings came up within Yuya's mind.

"It must have been lonely, right? Being rejected… and being seen as someone you weren't…"

He was reminded of old memories of his childhood, of the times when all the other children mocked him for being a coward after his father's disappearance.

"You're not a demon, either. After all, you're a part of us… and we're a part of you. It doesn't make sense to reject a part of yourself… so, I'll accept you."

Within the once pitch-black darkness blossomed a spark of light. Yuya came closer to that light, reaching in deeper.

"I want to make everyone smile! It's just too sad – too sad to be the only one unable to be happy."

And so, the pendulum that had once came to a sudden halt began to swing once again.
