"I'm reading!" Tris yelled at the person knocking on her bedroom door.

Ignoring her warning, her scowl and the lightning bolts playing over her hair, Briar pushed open her door, sauntered in and threw himself on the end of her bed. He grinned at the glare Tris directed at him over the top of her glasses.

"I *said*, I'm reading!"

"I know. I heard you loud and clear. Plus, you're always reading."

"Then why…" Tris began in a huff and stopped when Briar held up his own book.

"Sandry is entertaining downstairs and it's getting a little loud."

Tris gave him a knowing look.

"Fine. There's too many good looking, stuck up noble boys. My ego can't take the constant one upmanship. So I came up here to escape."

Tris shrugged and went back to reading without another word. Briar stretched out on his back and opened his book. The two read in comfortable silence.
