AN: I know what you're all thinking; "Firework really can't stop with the Jolks fics, can't she?"
The answer is yes…yes, I can't…
Anyway, this one is a little something I wrote for Nanjo's birthday. Happy Birthday to our vampire, Nanjo Yoshino!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
It was nearing midnight in a freeway leading out of the city of Tokyo as an average sized car drove like a bat out of hell. The two occupants of the car were clearly enjoying their time at the near empty freeway despite the nearly law breaking speeds they were in.
"Ai-chan, slow down!" Nanjo Yoshino scolded the vehicle's driver, the wide grin on her face betraying her words.
"It's okay, Yoshi-chan. I'll be careful." Was Kusuda Aina's simple response. Eventually, they made it out of the freeway and to the road that would lead them to the beach.
"Ne, Ai-chan." Nanjo said in order to get her attention.
"What is it?"
"Why are we going to the beach in the middle of the night?" She asked but Kussun simply gave her a knowing smile. After a few more minutes of driving and thirty seconds of looking for a parking spot, they were able to relax on the beach. Much to Nanjo's surprise, Kussun brought a blanket and a picnic basket with her. They settled down and simply enjoyed each other's company. That is until Kussun decided to do something that really surprised her.
"Yoshi-chan, close your eyes." The younger woman requested. Nanjo knew that she could trust Kussun with anything so she complied and she felt her tuck something in her hair and then she heard Kussun's sweet voice singing the birthday song. When she opened her eyes, there, sitting on top of the picnic basket was a birthday cake with a candle on it.
"Happy Birthday, Yoshi-chan." Kussun said with a smile. Nanjo grinned before hugging her and blowing the candle out. Nanjo grabbed the item that Kussun tucked in her hair and gasped at what it was.
"A lily." She whispered in amazement. "Just like the flowers you sent yesterday."
Kussun simply nodded in response. Both women smiled as they remembered the flower stand that Kussun sent for Nanjo during her birthday live the previous day. The flower stand had three lilies in it and it made her remember of their duet song, "Garasu no Hanazono".
"I thought it was a nice touch. Because if it weren't for that song…I don't think I would've realized I was in love with you." Kussun shyly admitted with a blush before continuing on. "I wanted to take you to the meadow with the fireflies but it was too short notice so I thought I'd take you the beach instead and I'm-"
Nanjo cut her off with a sudden kiss, showing her how much she appreciated her efforts.
"Thank you, Ai-chan. You've done all these wonderful things for me even though you were busy with your job. So, from the bottom of my heart; thank you. I love you."
Kussun leaned in to press their lips together yet again, separating only when their lungs really needed the air. But even then, they kept each other close by leaning their foreheads close together and wrapping their arms around each other.
"Happy Birthday, Yoshi-chan. I love you." The younger woman whispered before she leaned her head on her shoulder. The couple spent the wee hours of the day of Nanjo's birth wrapped up in each other, gazing at the stars and the bright, glowing moon on the horizon. Nanjo thought it was a nice early start to the day; just her and the woman she loved the most at the beach…
Happy Birthday indeed.
AN: I wanted to keep this one short and simple and really on topic so I think I did a good job with this one.
Again; Happy Birthday to Nanjo Yoshino!
