Marinette woke to her alarm to find herself half fallen out of bed. She stood up and stretched. "Morning, Tikki." The little Kwami floated off the bed and towards her friend. "Morning." Marinette looked at her phone to check the date. "Oh, no! Today's the day our class has three new students! Oh, I hope my dad had those treats ready." "Marinette calm down. I'm sure things will go great today. Are they all boys or all girls." Marinette thought for a minuet. "We don't know yet, but I hope they're not like Chloe."
Marinette got ready for school and headed down to the bakery with Tikki in her purse. Her parents were already busy preparing pastries and dealing with a few costumers. "Morning mom and dad." "Morning, sweetie," Her father said as she walked to give him a kiss. "Good morning," her mother said as she turned to a costumer. Her father handed her a few macaroons in three boxes. "A few treats for those new classmates today. Ten for each." "Thanks, Papa," Marinette said as she walked out of the bakery.
Adrien brushed his teeth as Plagg ate his morning camembert. "So today's the day, huh?" Plagg asked Adrien as he ate the last of his cheese. "Yup, new classmates. Hope they won't get hung up on me because of who I am." Plagg went into Adrien's coat as he got his backpack. As he walked downstairs, Adrien looked at his mothers portrait. He sighed as he went out the door and headed to the car that was going to take him to school.
He looked out the window at the passing buildings as he was headed to school. At a stoplight he saw a billboard of a family and the name of the business. 'Mercier's Phone Management: All Phone Materials.' The family photo next to the name of the company was of a man and a woman next to each other and in front and center of them was a girl that looked in her early teenage years. On each side of the girl were toddlers. All were smiling and looked like a happy family. My dream life, Adrien thought as they passed it. He saw the school in the distance and picked up his backpack.
Mona looked at herself in her body length mirror with her pale blue eyes as she adjusted her purple shirt with the word 'Adventurous' on it written in silver. She got her jean jacket from her closet and slipped it on. She made sure her jeans matched her outfit and that her brown cowgirl boots were still cleaned. Her hair was the same dirty blonde with her bangs hanging over her brows, and the hair on the top side of her head pulled back into a single pony tail. She sighed as she got all of her things in her new side backpack.
"Mona! Your friends are here!" "Thanks Mom!" Mona picked up her sketch book and a pencil and placed it in her bag. When she heard a knock on her door she went and opened it to find her two best friends standing there. "I will never get use to this small house sized room," her best friend Lana Dublin said as she walked into the room with Mona's other best friend, and crush, Jack Montréal. Both had their backpacks ready for their first day at their new school in the city since her parents told her it was time.
The children had known each other since forever due to the fact that their parents worked close to Mona's parents who were the founders and owners of Mercier's Phone Management. Lana was a burnet with hazle eyes and bleached hair tips, an ivory tee-shirt with a horse on it, boot cut jeans, white cowgirl boots, and a red rose hairpin. Jack was a dark redhead with pure green eyes and always wore his lucky black cowboy boots along with jeans and a buttoned up blue plaid shirt.
Mona looked back into the mirror to make sure her hair was still straight with the ends curled. When she was ready she and her friends went downstairs to get ready for school. "Mom, can we take our scooters to school?" Her mother looked up from her papers and smiled at her. "Sure, sweetie. There's more room here than the country roads. But be careful." Her friends smiled and waved goodbye as they started to go to the front of the mansion. Just then Mr. Mercier walked in and smiled at his daughter.
"I'm proud of you for taking such a big change." Mrs. Mercier got up and stood by her husband. "Yes, dear. We know it was hard for you and your friends to move from Paris's countryside but you stayed strong through it and led your friends in this big change." Mona smiled as her mother put her hands on her shoulder. "It was hard, but you know me. I'm always up fro a new adventure! I've gotta go. Bye!" Mona waved to her parents as she left the house. Her friends were already on their motor scooter's.
As she put on her helmet Mona looked at her house once more. She gave a thumbs up to her friends after she started the engine and they rode off into the direction of their school. When they came to their first red light Mona looked in her bag to make sure she had brought a few certain things. Today is going to go perfect, she kept on telling herself. It has to.
The old master paced in his room. "Ladybug and Cat Noir need help. Their powers won't last long as Hawk Moth grows stronger. Even if they can handle it they need backup." His Kwami zipped up to him to help him solve the crisis. "Master, what about the Miraculous of balance? The Bluebird belt buckle?" The old master stopped in his tracks and smiled at his Kwami as he went to a secret compartment under the rug. He punched in the code and opened the safe. Out popped a belt buckle with a blue feather in the center.
"The Bluebird belt buckle," he said as he examined it. "It has equally strong powers as the Black Cat ring and Ladybug earrings. And is used to make sure the powers are to stay at bay between the two. Now we just need to find its new chosen one." His Kwami nodded as the old master placed it in a mini box and placed it in his pockets. "Let us go."
Mona and her friends made it to the school with a few students still entering. They parked their scooters and headed to the principals office quickly. "Come in." They entered single file and sat down in chairs that were layed out. "Ah, you must be the new students from the countryside. I am Mr. Damocles." "Nice to meet you Mr. Domiciles. As you know I'm Mona and these are my friends, Jack and Lana." Jack and Lana greeted the man as he pushed some papers out to them for them to sign.
"And as I understand your parents weren't able to come?" The children nodded as they gave the papers back. "Well, then, your all set. Do you think you can find your class on your own?" "Yes, sir," they said in union as they left the room. As they left the room they quickly went back to their bikes to make sure they didn't leave anything behind.
Mona turned to join her friends on the steps but saw an old man struggling to carry a bag of groceries across the road. "Oh, sir! Here, let me help you." She picked up the bag and made sure the coast was clear as she helped the man cross the street. "Thank you, young lady You are truly kind." Mona handed him the bag when they reached the other side if the street. "It was nothing. If you want I can help you the rest of the way home." The man just shook his head. "No need for that, I live just around the corner. You, on the other hand, will soon be late to class."
Mona smiled at the man and went back to the school. When she turned around the old man was gone. Strange, she thought as she went inside and headed to class quickly with her friends.
Marinette showed Alya her latest designs as everyone walked in and sat down. The teacher clapped her hands to get the students attention. "Everyone, today's a very special day. Today we welcome three new classmates." "I hope it's not more dorks," Chloe said. "Chloe! Please be quiet. As you all know we must show kindness to them and make them feel comfortable. If anyone has welcome gifts for them you'll have time to give them to them. Marinette, since you are our class representative you will be in charge of making sure that their first day here goes well." "Yes, ma'am," Marinette said as she got out the macaroons.
The teacher opened the door and nodded to signal the new students to come in. Two girls and one boy came in single file and stood in front of the class. Marinette saw Nino recording the entire thing and smiled and looked back at the new students as they presented themselves. The girl in the middle went first as she pulled out a box. "Hi, I'm Mohali Mercier." At the mention of her name a mummer started to go through the class. "Girl, that girl is the daughter of Nathaniel and Maria Mercier. The owners of that huge phone company," Alya whispered to Marinette. "Yeah, I know her," Adrien said, "Chloe does ,too. But we're all just friends." the girl waited for the class to calm down to continue.
"Yes, my parents are the owners of a huge company but I didn't grow up in the city. Visit, yes, but not for long. Me and my friends grew up in the countryside where I was called Mona and I still am. We had to move here because, well, for me it was to live in a life where I will one day take over my parents business." Marinette noticed that at that last part she seemed uncertain.
The other girl stepped up and introduced herself along with the boy. "I'm Lana Dublin." "And I'm Jackson Montreal, but everyone calls me Jack." "We moved here with Mona but it was because our parents got a promotion." "And now Mona will pass out one-of-a-kind phone case designs she made herself." "in fact she makes most of the phone designs the company gives out." Mona opened a box and stopped at everyone as they picked out different cases. When she got to Alya and Marinette, she smiled and asked Alya a question.
"We watched your blog from the country and it's amazing. But how fun is it trying to find out who Ladybug is? Because I always like an adventure." Alya picked a computer chip design case and replied to Mona. "It's amazing trying to unmask her! I just wish she didn't always had to run off so soon." Mona smiled as she moved to Marinette. "Sorry but there's only one design left." Marinette looked into the box to find an ivory white phone case with flowers and a ladybug on it. "It's okay. I like it." Marinette took it and attached it o her phone.
"Children, you all can sit at that back table together." The teacher pointed to the back at the class as they went to take their seats. "Oh, and before I forget, Marinette, our class representative, will make sure you have a great first day." Marinette stood up and walked towards them to give them the macaroons her father made. "It's nice to meet you. I hope you like them. Meet me after class and we can discuss anything you need or want to know. And I'd be happy to help you during lunch break." They nodded as they looked into the boxes.
School went great for Mona and her friends. The macaroons Marinette gave them were delicious and she was really kind as she lead them around. At the end of school as they got ready to leave they heard yelling. They ran inside to see what happened to see that a boy a grade younger had spilled his drink on Chloe. "Ugh, you moron! Look what you did!" The boy stuttered as he tried to clean up his mess. "I-I'm sorry! you bumped into me." "You better pay for this!"
Mona stepped up and tried to break up the fight. "Chloe, calm down. It was an accident." Chloe glared at her and looked back at the boy. "Mona, sweetie, this is the way things work in the city. You better get use to it." Anger washed over Mona as the boy ran off, someone yelling his name, Davis, to stop. "Chloe, I don't know how life works in the city, but I know you don't pick on people! He didn't do it on purpose." Adrien stepped between the girls to break it up. "Calm down you two."Chloe turned away with a huff and stormed away.
"Come on, Mona," Jack said. Mona turned away and headed back to her scooter. Her friends parted with her a block away from her house as she headed home. When she arrived she had a banana and headed to her room to do her homework while her parents were still at work. When she went to her desk e found a black little box with a red symbol on it. What? She picked it up and examined it. Doesn't look like a prank, she thought after looking at the outside. She opened it and light illuminated the room.
When it went away she opened her eyes to find a sky blue and white little creature floating in the air. "Awesome!" She reached out to poke it but it opened its eyes and spoke. "Don't even think about it!" "Ahhh!" She leaped back from the raspy female voiced creature. "What are you?" she asked as she stood up and examined it without touching. "I'm Zips, your Kwami. A Kwami is a magical creature that belongs to a certain accessory that is called a Miraculous. When you wear it I will be able to transform you into a superhero with powers. Yours is the power of balance, to keep the powers of Ladybug and Cat Noir stay at bay in case they get out of control. But basically, you can fly, have metal feathers, and can launch Gust Balls."
"Wow, I finally have a cool life," Mona said. "Yes, but after a few Gust Balls, you will only have five minuets left then you will go back to being Mona." "And that's bad...why?" "You must keep your identity a secret. And after you detransform you must give me something to eat to give me energy. Now, put on that belt buckle!" Zips pointed to the little box where there was a white belt buckle. "Okay, just let me find a belt." Mona rummaged through a drawer and found a white belt and put it on along with the buckle.
"Now just say 'Wings up!'" Zips said and turned around. "Whenever you're ready," she added. Mona smiled as she spread her arms and said "Zips, wings up!" Suddenly Zips flew into the buckle and a blue feather appeared in it. A white mask with feather like tips and a nose piece almost half an inch longer than her nose appeared on her face as three feathers placed themselves into her mini pony tail and a blue body suit replaced her outfit. Sky blue long boots with white rims took over for her boots, and blue wings with white feathers on the ends formed on her back. The only thing left was the white belt but now it had blue feathers.
Mona looked into a mirror and marveled at her new look. "I'm unrecognizable! But how do I fly? The wings aren't a part of me." Mona was about to leave her room but quickly retracted. "Right, I can't let my parents assistant, Dawn, see me leaving like this. I'm gonna have to sneak out off of my balcony." Mona opened the door to her balcony and went to the railing. There were several chairs with cushions, a coffee table, lights, and a few decorations.
At the railing, Mona climbed onto it and made sure no one was looking. When she was ready she started to flap her wings by pretending there were backbones attaching them to her. When she was hovering she laughed and tried to go forward slowly but failed and ended up flying out of control. She tried hard not to scream so that she wouldn't draw any attention and just zip by. She tried to dodge all the buildings but soon came to a brick wall. "Ahhh!"
She closed her eyes and braced herself for impact. Nothing happened and the wind stopped howling in her ears. What? She opened her eyes to find herself an inch away from the wall. She suddenly felt something tugging her back. She looked at her feat to find a red yo-yo with black spots wrapped around her feet and saw two figures on the roof of a building. Ladybug and Cat Noir! she realized with glee as she got close enough to the building to turn around and pull herself onto the roof.
When she untied herself she stood and looked at the two hero's of Paris. "Hi," she said, rubbing the back of her head with one hand as Ladybug started to question her. "Who are you? Are you working for Hawk Moth?" "I'm-I'm..." Mona thought for a minuet as she decided on a hero name. "I don't work for Hawk Moth, and if you don't believe me then how's this for prof? I know that the Miraculous can transform us with the help of our Kwami's. I also know that I'm suppose to help you two out."
Cat Noir shrugged. "If she knows that much then she really isn't working for Hawk Moth." Ladybug sighed in relief but said one thing. "But what's your hero name?" Mona thought about it for a minuet as she heard a bird sing and got an idea. "I'm Songbird! And trust me when I say that I will help you guys out and that I'm feisty." "Great," Cat said as he rolled his eyes. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some flying practice to do." Mona tried to fly again but kept on having to be reeled in by Ladybug.
Davis sat down in a bench at the Eiffel Tower and growled. "Chloe always has to blame it on someone else. She bumped into me not the other way around!" A purple butterfly landed on Davis' empty smoothie cup and Hawk Moth spoke. "Dumpster, I am Hawk Moth. I can give you the power to get revenge on those who have blamed you. But first you must give me the Miraculous' of Ladybug and Cat Noir."
Davis grinned as he stood up. "Yes, Hawk Moth." A dark substance took over Davis and transformed him. He was no longer Davis. He was now Dumpster.
