The rides at dawn and dusk were his favorites. Living out in the country meant that they didn't have too many neighbors who cared about Kevin's Harley coming to life before most in their part of the world did. A cow or two would moo lowly in what sounded like annoyance, but Kevin didn't care because it'd be dinner and a belt soon anyways.

They took these rides because Edd's job as the town vet meant early mornings, so Kevin would take him to breakfast to the 24 hour diner on the edge of town twice a week to catch up with his animal loving husband. Sitting in their booth, they'd watch the sky come to life and go to sleep at the same time. As the sun rose, the stars would slowly flicker out as the sky turned a million shades of blue and red, orange and pink.

The rides home were just as glorious. As the sun went down, they'd sit on their wrap around porch and watch the stars come to life again against a purple and turquoise sky. They'd talk about their days, make plans and relive old memories.

And as the moon rose, he'd take the hand of the man, who as a boy, would build some of the craziest scams he'd ever see, as a teenager, would guide him gently off the wrong path and towards one that wasn't self destructive and lined with the weeds of regret, and as a man would say yes to love, yes to marriage and yes to another dance under the starlight.
