Disclaimer: I own neither Digimon nor RWBY

Penny scanned the crowds filling the arena, searching desperately for Riina, or at least some other member of team ROAL.

More and more she felt that she needed to talk to Alphamon more. Not that she didn't appreciate Luke's advice at all but…

There was something seriously wrong about that boy, and something deep inside her really didn't like him. Not to mention some of the things he said… didn't sit overly well with her.

Of course, even if she did see Riina or someone from team ROAL, she also had to figure out some way to talk to them. Without interference from her 'team-mate'.

"Penny!" A friendly, familiar voice called out.

Penny turned towards the origin, her best, and only, friend, Ruby.

"Ruby!"

The robot girl gave her 'team-mate' what could only be called a pleading glance, and in return received an annoyed: "20 minutes."

"It's been so long since we last talked! I know you haven't been able to but…" Ruby said excitedly, although her last few words were somewhat subdued.

"I'm sorry Ruby. I wanted to, really…"

"Don't worry about it. I understand."

"Thank you. Hey, Ruby?"

"Yes?"

Penny leaned in closer and lowered her voice to a whisper.

"What kind of… p-person do you think I should be?"

"Huh?"

Luckily Ciel merely raised an eyebrow at this, instead of intervening.

"Sorry, I understand if it is-"

"No, no. It was just so sudden…" Ruby fell into thought, before seemingly reaching some sort of conclusion. "Honestly, I just want us to be friends. As long as you stay you, I don't mind!"

For some reason Penny couldn't quite explain, these words stirred up her emotions.

Relief, joy… They were myriad, and she simply couldn't describe them all.

Before she could stop and consider her actions, she had already drawn Ruby into a crushing hug that threatened to suffocate her friend.

"Penny… I-I'm glad you're… happy… But you are… kind of… crushing me…" Ruby managed to squeeze out.

"Oh no!" Penny immediately released her friend. "I'm sorry… I-I can't really explain what came over me…"

"I mean… I kind of know the feeling… It's fine. I'm glad you seem a bit happier."

"Happier?"

"Well… you seemed a bit down…"

"I suppose I was… yes. Thank you, Ruby, for being my friend."

"You don't need to thank me."

Ciel suddenly cleared her throat and tapped her watch, a clear signal that their time was up.

"Sorry Ruby, it seems time's up. See you again later!"

As Ruby left and Penny prepared to follow her 'team-mate', she caught sight of something.

There, not overly far away, with an amused smile looking right at her, sat Luke.

All things considered; he had probably seen the entire thing.

And while he seemed somewhat happy, Penny had the distinct feeling it wasn't a benevolent happiness.

Glynda released a soft sigh as the first day of the Vytal Festival Tournament concluded.

It was all going well. For now.

So many promising students…

She shook her head softly.

What was with her lately?

Strange thoughts kept popping into her head, and her dreams…

Oh, just thinking about them…

"Oh, hello lady." An unfamiliar voice interrupted her thoughts.

Looking towards the source, she found a small young boy, with strange markings on one side of his face. He was smiling with the innocence of a child, but something about it sent a shiver down her spine.

'Lucemon?!'

Glynda almost thought she heard someone exclaiming in surprise, but she couldn't place where it had come from…

She put on that smile you would use when dealing with small children.

"Hello. Are you lost?" She asked.

"Nope! I just thought I recognised you. You're the Huntress Glynda Goodwitch, right?!" The child beamed with excitement.

"That's right."

The child chuckled. "You seem to have held up pretty well."

It was such a strange thing to say, it didn't properly register with Glynda.

"What did you just say?"

"Nothing!" He beamed with innocence again, before seeming to realise something. "Seems I need to go now. Goodbye!"

And just like that the boy ran off, disappearing into the crowd, leaving behind a dumbfounded, and thoroughly disturbed, Glynda.

There had just been something entirely off about him, something about the look in his eyes.

Beneath that childlike innocence and joy, had almost seemed to be a presence far more ancient…

Like Ozpin… or Alphamon…

She should probably…

Keep this to herself.

Yes, things were already bad enough without her bringing weird premonitions into it.

"Is something the matter Yang, you've been like that the entire day?" Weiss asked her team-mate as they all gathered together in their room after the first day of the tournament.

"I feel like something has been bothering me but… I just… can't quite put a finger on it."

"You're… not exactly making a lot of sense right now."

"Is this about that deathly feeling you were talking about yesterday?" Blake asked.

"That? I don't think so… I mean, it bothered me, but…I feel like there was something else…" Yang responded.

"It could have been a Digimon… I guess… I can think of a couple candidates that may be able to pull that off…" V-mon said.

"You said it was unlikely it could have stayed around, right?" Ruby said.

"Yeah. Whatever it was, it shouldn't be able to stay in this world… I think…" Huckmon replied.

"What about Beelzebumon? He was sticking around." The red girl queried.

"The Seven are… special. It was probably feeding on some form of Gluttony. Or perhaps it could get away with dark emotions but…" The saurian Digimon responded.

"I can never get used to how you use 'it' to describe an individual." Weiss interjected.

Yang suddenly perked up. "'It', that's right. He said something weird."

"Wait, who did what?" Ruby questioned.

"Omegos… you know, from team ROAL? Anyway, I was talking to him about training for the tournament when he said something weird. It slipped my mind a bit after the whole deathly feeling scare but…" The buxom Huntress said.

The others nodded.

"What did he say?" Blake asked.

"Well, he said something about me getting burned out, or well… that was what he claimed afterward. But it felt like he had actually said something careless… If memory serves… 'I suppose it would be'…"

"That certainly does sound a bit weird, yes." Weiss said.

"Actually… I was talking about how I had found a new sparring partner…"

"Which would be me…" V-mon started saying, but what seemed to be a realisation dragged out the last syllable.

"Substitute 'it' for 'V-mon', and those words actually make perfect sense, in the given context… if he knew about V-mon." Blake said, catching on.

"Only someone who has gotten used to calling an individual 'it' would do that." The white-haired girl added.

"So… a Digimon?" Ruby said.

"That is… Omegos of team ROAL?" Huckmon said, a combination of mirth and aggravation in its voice.

"Yeah… Not the most… clever…" V-mon added.

"You two sound like you have an idea." Weiss said.

"This individual, does 'he' have dual coloured hair in dark-red and light-blue?" Huckmon asked.

"Yeah… He does." Yang replied.

"Like the mane of Wargreymon and the fur of Metalgarurumon… That would be Omegamon alright. Bright in battle, but not the shrewdest." V-mon said.

The way the Digimon said it clearly signalled that this was no foe, but rather a comrade.

"Oh, crap. Huckmon said he sensed one of his friends just after Albion's match!" Ruby exclaimed.

The other members of team RWBY startled at the realisation.

"Don't tell me the one you sensed looks like it has while plate armour and a red draconian full-helm…" Weiss asked, seeming more so annoyed with herself than anything else.

"That does sound a bit like Dukemon." V-mon said.

"We could have figured it out all the way back then… If only we had finished finding out what it looks like…" The heiress almost seemed like she was about to start laughing… or maybe crying.

Maybe both.

"Wait, so are they are all actually Digimon?" Ruby exclaimed.

"Yeah. Should be. They did inhabit humans, and now that I think about it, call themselves team ROAL, like Royal, since we are the Royal Knights." Huckmon said.

"Huh. Mind telling us a bit about them? I wanna see if I can figure out who's who." Yang said.

"We already know about two of them though… Omegamon and Dukemon, right?" Blake said.

"Omegos Alabaster and Albion Dracul respectively. I have to admit they always had a kind of knightly aura about them." Weiss added. "We aren't really left with much to deduce with only two left…"

"I suppose we can talk a bit about them." V-mon said. "We'll start with Omegamon."

"Omegamon is the second-in-command of the Royal Knights, a powerful warrior and capable commander representing courage and friendship!" Huckmon said with such enthusiasm you'd have thought it was an adoring fan rather than a comrade.

"Omegamon is a fusion of two Ultimate-level Digimon, Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon, and as one might expect, has power to match. It is easily one of our strongest members." V-mon added. "Near or far, Omegamon excels thanks to those combined traits."

"Dukemon is our most gallant and honourable member! You can always rely on it to keep its word and follow what it thinks is right. It does cause quite a bit of friction at times though…" Huckmon continued.

"We've butted heads a few times over our time as comrades." V-mon said, nodding its head. "We don't always see eye to eye."

"Next up is LordKnightmon, the ruler of the Knightmon. Ehm…" The way Huckmon tapered off while looking towards V-mon was just a little bit weird.

"My sworn friend. Don't worry Huckmon, I know what kind of Digimon I and LordKnightmon can be at times. I'm not going to resent you for telling the truth." V-mon completed.

"What… does that mean?" Yang said, clearly just a bit worried.

"We Royal Knights, we all have different views on justice and fidelity. Personally, I put loyalty above all else, while my sworn friend does have the sometimes… unfortunate view that the ends justify the means. We have both done things that the others don't always approve of. Well, there is always Duftmon with its might makes right mentality who does oftentimes side with us but…" V-mon explained.

"Duftmon?" Ruby asked.

"A member of the Royal Knights, but not present at the moment." Huckmon replied.

"You know, I think that would be Lavender…" Blake said.

"The guy with the rose?" Weiss questioned.

"Yeah, but I suppose it's more because I just don't think it could be Riina…"

"A rose? My sworn friend is certainly fond of its roses." V-mon said with an affectionate chuckle.

"So, she was right then? Then who is Riina?" Yang asked.

"She's right. As for Riina… That would be Alphamon. The Aloof Hermit and Lord of the Empty Seat. The leader of the Royal Knights… when its actually around. We had all but forgotten about it last time it appeared." V-mon said.

"Alphamon is… many things. Mysterious, aloof… Unbelievably powerful… It is even said that Alphamon can serve as a balancing force able to subdue the other Royal Knights should we turn rampant for any reason. We haven't verified it but… We cannot disregard it." Huckmon continued.

"Wow… That Riina is… I mean, I can see mysterious but…" Ruby said, with clear disbelief in her voice.

"A pretence." Weiss said. "I think that is what it is. Riina Onyx is a façade, incredibly well made but… It's really betrayed by the others."

"I'm impressed Weiss! I do feel like that is the most likely reason. We've talked about this Riina Onyx before and well… Alphamon is a regal and ancient entity. It has its moments of oddity for certain but…" V-mon said.

"That's why you didn't put it together when we first talked about Riina…" Blake mused.

"Too different. Alphamon really is the most familiar with the Human World. And it has depths we just cannot fathom." Huckmon said.

"So that's how Riina knew…" Ruby muttered to herself, holding the red and silver device that signified her bond with Huckmon.

Author's notes: Well, I'm not entirely sure about this chapter but, here we go. Also, fun fact, Luce would be pronounced like Luke in classical Latin, something that surely has nothing to do with this story what so ever I don't know what you are talking about. Speaking of which, I'm kind of bummed out no one said anything about "Luke's" advice to Penny. I was trying to make it at least somewhat legitimate while also being kind of wrong.

Oh well. I hope for some feedback. Oh, and friendly reminder, I'm using the Japanese terms, so Ultimate is the same as Mega here. I for the most part prefer the Japanese terms rather than the absolute butchering the dub gave us.

Well, I hope you enjoyed, and that you have a nice day.
