Accio Hermione

By like a falling star

Ask me what my favourite spell is. Go on, go on. I love answering this question because I know exactly what my answer will be.

Ask Harry what his favourite spell is, and I doubt he can decide on one.

Ask Hermione, or Ginny, or Seamus, or anyone else the same question, and I doubt they have a favourite spell to date.

Voldemort will probably tell you 'Avada Kedavra'. And he'll probably use it on you as well.

Convinced?

Thought so.

Heh.

Accio Hermione. It's my very favourite spell. Not Petrificus Totalus, not Lumos, and definitely not Wingardium Leviosa, but Accio Hermione.

Not just Accio, either. Accio Hermione. I love it simply because it has Hermione's name woven into it.

Plus it works miracles.

Do let me demonstrate. It's so much more fun this way.

I lift my hand, my 'fourteen inches, willow, containing one unicorn tail- hair' wand absolutely parallel to the ground, and declare, with practised ease, "Accio Hermione!"

"Oof!" Hermione crashes headlong into me, and we stumble a bit before I wrap my arms around her.

"Hello, Sunshine." I love this.

"Ron!" She is startled, though it's become a habit of mine to 'summon' her at least once a day. "How many times have I told you not to do that when I'm reading?" She looks properly ruffled, but I can see the smile lurking behind her annoyance.

After the Twiwizard Tournament last year, I decided that the Summoning Charm was just wicked, and got Hermione to teach me how to do it. The late nights in the Gryffindor Common Room were fun as well. We got together at the beginning of the school term, and I've learnt to use it against her. After all, practice makes perfect, right?

"How many times have I told you that all work and no play makes Hermione a dull girl?" I tease her.

Hermione bites her lip, and I watch in amusement as her eyes burn, ready to defend and uphold her favourite past-time. "Reading is fun! You can learn loads of interesting facts and very useful spells." Her mouth curves into a delightful pout. "And for your information, Ronald Weasley, if you don't like dull girls then leave for all I care."

I know she's just teasing, but I'm hurt, for some reason. "Fine. Whatever." I remove my hands from her waist and take a few steps away from her.

"Ron!" Hermione looks anguished. "I- I didn't mean for it to come out that way."

"I know." I grin at her, and watch her shoulders sag in relief. "Accio Hermione!"

Again she zooms into my arms. "Hello, Sunshine." I greet as usual.

Hermione hits me playfully. "You're abusing the spell, you know. It wasn't meant to be used to summon humans."

"I'm very good at it, then, aren't I?" I say, gently plucking a lock of wayward curls from her forehead and bringing it behind her ears.

Hermione breathes in sharply. "Don't do that."

"Do what?"

"Don't.. don't touch me like that. My skin tingles."

I gaze down at her. "All right, then. I won't."

I cup her face in my hands, searching her face. "Is this all right?"

She gives a tiny nod, trembling against me, and her eyes flutter shut.

After a moment, I lean down and close the distance.
