Hello All!

This is a start of my new Fanfic called 'Where Loyalties Lie' it is a Female Naruto story. As of now I am planning this to focus on all of Naruto's relationships, and how they think and react to her. This won't be a play by play screaming different jutsu. The timeline will change somewhat as well as certain events. If the changes get confusing let me know via PM or comments. This is told in a third person POV but I try to section it off by character. There may be some language in this fic, and any possible triggers I will put in Author notes in the beginning of each chapter!

Fanfiction is still new to me so I am bound to mess up, probably a lot. But regardless of any possible confusion I hope you all enjoy!

I do not own Naruto, this is written for enjoyment, not payment.

And of course, Comments are appreciated! Thanks all!

Where Loyalties Lie: Prologue

On October 10th in a remote location known only to a few, a women with fiery red hair was screaming at a man with bright blue eyes and yellow hair, with the promise of horrific jutsu, the likes that no one has ever seen if they, "didn't get this baby out of her right now, dattebane!" She was Uzumaki Kushina and the terrified looking man that stood beside her with crushed fingers was the Yondaime Hokage, Namikaze Minato. Minato and Kushina had everything planed months in advance for the birth of their little bundle of joy, they had to be prepared, and the consequences would be severe if not. Being the Jinjuriki to the nine tailed fox, Kushina had to be careful during birth, if the pregnancy weakened seal broke there would be hell to pay. Literally. The power of Kyuubi no Kitsune could wipe out their small village in a blink of an eye. So they took every precaution they could think of, the pregnancy was kept secret, the location a mystery to those not directly involved, barriers were in place, the area guarded by ANBU and most importantly Namikaze Minato had a new, improved seal ready, just in case. As it where, their careful preparations were rendered useless.

Only two years after the End of the Third Shinobi War another tragedy befell Konoha, The Village Hidden in the Leaves. Minutes after the birth of Minato and Kushina's daughter, a masked man forced the seal to brake and the Kyuubi out of its vessel's body. With the Nine Tailed Foxes power the masked man rampaged the village. Recently built buildings were once again burned to the ground, Shinobi of all ages were called to fight the Chakra beast, many losing their lives, sacrificing themselves in order to give others the time to escape. The Village would not be standing today if it weren't for the efforts of the Yondaime. With his hour old baby girl in front of him, his almost dead wife pressed against him, and one of the Nine tail's claws piercing him, Minato made the decision to create the next Jinjuriki to the Kyuubi No Kitsune. In a remote location on October 10th Namikaze Naruto's short little life changed dramatically. With the demon contained, after taking one last look at his already dead wife, The Yondaime Hokage turned to the child they created together, a small smile graced his bloodied lips, his Naruto was perfect.

Sarutobi Hiruzen was tired, the events of the previous night were a blur, the emergency council meeting was even blurrier, and his day wasn't done just yet. There was still an urgent matter that needed his attention, not wanting to waste any of his still drastically low Chakra Hiruzen walked from the (mostly) standing Hokage tower to his home where a white haired man in his late thirties, a white haired teenager, and a one day old baby girl were waiting for him.

"They made you take the hat back, huh sensei?" the Sannin smirked, knowing exactly how little the Sandaime wanted his position back.

The recently re-appointed Hokage sighed, sitting on the lone chair in his living room, futon already occupied by his former student, a somber looking boy wearing dirtied ANBU attire sans mask and a slumbering child between them. He wished that his student was correct in his assumptions. If that were the case it'd be much easier to complain about the situation, but unfortunately he had asked for it.

"No Jiraiya, I volunteered."

"Huh?" was Jiraiya's articulate response.

The Sandaime let his gaze fall on the fast asleep Naruto, cocooned in pillows and blankets looking out of place next to the two exhausted men. A quizzical eyebrow was raised by the self-proclaimed super-pervert, prompting his sensei to answer.

"Taking back this Hat," The Hokage sneered the word, "was the only way I could protect Her, Jiraiya."

The toad-sannin sighed heavily, "Of course you're right. She's going to need all the help we can give her."

The overprotective teenager with a mask adorning his face, and his hitai-ate covering his left eye leapt up from his place on the futon at Jiraiya's statement, he started pacing the small room, brow furrowed in confusing, his young form radiating aggression.

"What exactly does she need protecting from?" the jonin seethed.

Hiruzen knew he should have expected this reaction from the young man standing in front of him but between the horrors of last night finally coming to a screeching stop, throwing himself at the council, the council throwing him at the village, and the small child sleeping before him, he really hoped he wouldn't have to be the voice of reason for either of the two white haired ninja. He should have known better, his life wasn't that easy.

"Kakashi…" the Hokage said, sounding, if possible, even more exhausted. "Kakashi, Naruto is in danger, not only from enemy nin, but from the village."

The young jonin opened his mouth to argue but Hiruzen held up a hand to silence him.

"Listen to me Kakashi, if anyone knows that she is Minato's daughter she will be targeted, and if anyone knows she is the Jinjuriki, she will be hated. Combine the two? She'll be dead or captured within a year. The only way to protect her is to keep her status and lineage a secret."

"And…" Jiraiya added clueing into the Hokage's meaning, "the only way to do that is to make sure that we- Kakashi-kun and I take no visible interest in her, I get it Sandaime-sensei, I may not like it, but I get it."

"St-stay away from her? You can't ask that, sh-shes the only family I have left," Kakashi, now on his knees in front of Hiruzen, pleaded with him, "Let me protect her, I can do it Hokage-sama, I have the Sharingan, she can live with me, I'll make sure she's safe and happy and please don't do this to me."

Sarutobi Hiruzen was many things, but cruel was not one of them, he watched the young man break down in front of him. He knew that everything he said was true, she was the only family that the young Hatake had left, she would be happiest there, he would do everything in his power to protect her, and his Sharingan would help him do so. But he also knew as cruel as it may seem, that this was not the safest option they had, and her safety meant more to him than the hurt in the white haired jonin's eye.

"Use that brain of yours Kakashi, if you or I, the two closest people to Minato and Kushina, took her in, combined with her blond hair and blue eyes, if people were skeptical of her lineage before, they would know then. You might as well put a sign around her neck saying, 'I'm the Yondaime's daughter, capture me please.' I know staying away from her seems like the worst option, but it is the best option, for her safety."

The Sandaime Hokage watched as Kakashi's shoulders slumped in defeat, his gaze now not meeting either of theirs.

"Get some sleep son, you can guard Naruto here for a few days", standing up, he gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, "until then, Jiraiya and I have our work cut out for us."

Jiraiya sighed.

Well there is that! The prologue is finished! I have the majority of chapter one written but I think I need to move some things around. Hope you liked! -UM
