A/N: When I started this story, I promised myself that I'd never do this. I told myself that I'd see this through to the end no matter what.
I was lying to myself.
I'll be blunt here. Am I ending Remnant's Reclamation? Yes. I am. I'm killing this story. It hurts to write this, but it's something that needs to be done. If you want an explanation why, continue reading below. If you don't care and just want to know what my future plans were going to be and want to see all the bits I wrote and research I did for this story and never ended up using, skip to the line break below.
I'll keep this simple. When I started Remnant's Reclamation, I started writing Fanfiction. That is, this story was my first ever real writing project that didn't involve school. It honestly only got as popular as it did because Generatedname made a large amounts of edits to the story. Over time, his edits became less and less as my writing improved and his life got busier, until the point when it was just my writing. Not to sound arrogant here, but my writing is rather decent now, and a hell of a lot better then it was at the start. But that doesn't change the fact that this story was the very beginning of my Fanfiction writing hobby, and as a result it has all the flaws and mistakes that could be expected from a person's first story. I don't like where the story is right now, and I regret a lot of the things I've done to the story plot-wise. Additionally, I've simply lost my motivation to continue this story. The flame that once fueled my passion for this story has extinguished, and I refuse to force myself to write something I no longer hold an interest in.
So, after taking a long (and I seriously mean LONG) time to consider where I am right now and the current state of the story, I decided that the best thing to do is to simply start over. A whole new story using all the skills I've gained and learned since starting Fanfiction. I feel confident that I can create a new story that will be much better then this one, and that you can all enjoy. I'm sorry for taking so long to bring you this message of closure, but not only has college been absolutely kicking my ass lately, it took me a while to figure out how to break the news to you all.
And thus, this brings us to THE END of Remnant's Reclamation. It has been an absolutely wonderful ride with all of you absolutely wonderful people. I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of this story, despite it's messy state. You have all been amazing with your reviews and comments, and I will forever cherish each and every single one. I hope to see you all in the rewrite, which I can tell you right now, will be taking a significantly different direction compared to this one. As I now have more experience, the redo will have more originality and follow the story less directly. I hope you will all give me your thoughts on what you want to see in the next story. I can't promise everything, but I can promise to take everyone's suggestions into consideration (BUT I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY ORIGIONAL CHARACTERS).
And so, I will leave you with the (current/may be changed in the future) title and summary of the story I plan to replace this one:
Title: Deluge
Summary: Born in a tube from the mind of a rampant monitor, she was little more then an experiment. An unnatural abomination of nature. On the outside, she looked Human. But on the inside, she was rotten. Nothing more then a vessel of flesh and Flood, hidden behind a deceptively human shell. Filled with conflicting instincts to consume and preserve, she struggles to find her place in the world.
ADITIONAL INFORMATION
PARTIAL CONTENT FOR CHAPTER 17
Confusion. Questions. Mysteries. These were the kinds of thing that John's life had been filled with ever since the day his mother had disappeared. Depending on what they were, they could be irritating. Or sometimes maybe interesting to consider. But even after having so many unknowns in his life, hearing that he had supposedly created some monsters inside Gemina's head was simply taking it too far.
"Could you please skip the cryptically mysterious answers and just get right to the point? What are you?" John asked bluntly as a faint trace of irritation wiggled its way into his voice.
The humanoid being seemed amused by his response, and generated a static-like sound that he thought might have been a laugh. "So impatient, aren't you? I guess I can't blame you, considering what's happened to you."
It took a a few steps towards him, and he took several back in response. "To answer your question, I meant what I said. I don't know what I am. But as for what I think I am, I believe I am Gemina's fear. Or rather, a manifestation of one of its aspects."
John tilted his head, pondering on its answer. "A manifestation of her fear? Like a conscience?" He inquired.
It tapped its 'chin' with one of its slender hands in evident consideration. "I suppose you could say that. But our presence is only a result of you. From what we can tell, we only formed when you entered her mind. Although we still don't know why that happened." It said with apparent honesty.
"Uh huh?" He asked skeptically.
Despite its lack of a mouth, it appeared to scowl at him. "I'm telling the truth. We always existed before, but we were just things. Strong emotions formed from Gemina's fear. We only experienced actual sentience after you arrived here. I don't know why."
John narrowed his eyes. "And the stalking? The attacks? What were all those about?"
It gave a noise similar to a sigh. "The fight was an accident. We have been following you to see what you're doing, but never with any hostile intent. That one thought you were trying to escape, and was trying to keep you occupied. It would have continued too, if I hadn't called it back."
"So that was you? You're the one that caused the light show?" He asked curiously.
In response to his question, it shook its head. "No, that's all Gemina. I just stimulated her to send a message."
John perked up. "Gemina, where is she? Tell me." He demanded.
It pointed behind her, at the location where the lights in the sky appeared to be originating. "Back that way, but you can't go see her."
"And why not?" He growled.
"Because then you might try to leave. We can't let you leave."
John could fell his heart sink into his chest. He knew where this would lead. "Why not?"
"We only came into existence after you arrived here. If you were to leave, we might disappear to. We can't let that happen."
His grip tightened around Teardown's handle. "I can't stay here."
It nodded, almost sadly. "I know."
At that point, he heard the dull buzzing sound of the black swarm above him increase in volume. He looked up, and saw the black cloud churning and roiling like a storm as it increased in size. He looked back down at the humanoid, only to find it gone.
"What-" It was all he was able to say before the cloud suddenly shot a spire of itself out of its body at him.
John leaped back just as the cloud pillar smashed into the ground where he'd been standing, utterly destroying it. The pillar retreated, and another shot from the main body.
John dodged again, slinging Teardown onto his back and quickly sprinting away down the street. He glanced over his shoulder every few seconds to dodge more of the clouds spires.
"Ah crap." He swore as he noticed that the cloud attacking him was following close behind. It was obvious that it was keeping up with him easily, and wouldn't be able to outrun it.
In a moment of inspiration, he abruptly changed direction and jumped through the glass front of a decrepit store. He planted his feet firmly against the ground and leaped over the counter, rushing through the back storeroom and out through the thankfully unlocked back door. But the very moment he exited through the door, something big and heavy smashed into his back.
As he was forced to the ground on his chest, he struggled against the sensation of what felt like sand began creeping over his body and restraining his limbs together. He looked down as the sensation reached his neck and stopped, seeing a swarm of tiny black particles resting comfortably over his clothing.
PLANNING: Contact with the Gravemind had forced John's mind to re-wire itself, which resulted in him being more receptible to its telepathic abilities. Gemina's opponent had a semblance which forced her to relive a bad memory, and was naturally close to the Graveminds ability. When coming into contact with Gemina, John was temporarily linked with her in a shared dream. This linking resulted in the creation of several sub-personalities. The nature of Gemina's conscious was processed by John in a way which his mind could understand. Eventually my plan was to have John find Gemina and free them both from the dream. This was to be the beginning of an affection the two had for each other, which was designed to provide emotional confliction in John between his affection for Ruby and Gemina.
Remnant's Reclamation - Flood, Grimm, and Sentinels
Sentinels
Aggressor Sentinel
The Aggressor is the most common form of Sentinel, designed for the protection of Forerunner constructs and the small-scale suppression of Flood forms. There are many forms of Aggressor, though most follow the same basic layout. In the event of a severe threat, an advanced version of the Aggressor would be dispatched to assist the more common Aggressors.
Assembler Sentinel
Assemblers are presumably used to build and maintain Forerunner installations and technology, like the similarly named Constructors. Though they are not designed for combat, they will suspend their primary duties and engage Flood forms in the event of an outbreak.
Constructor
The Constructors are specialized Sentinels, designed solely for the construction and servicing of Forerunner structures. Like Assemblers, they are not designed for combat, but they will engage the Flood if necessary.
Enforcer
The Enforcers are equipped with a variety of offensive and defensive measures, including pulse beams, missiles, a last-resort Sentinel beam, and three frontal energy shields. They are designed to handle major Flood outbreaks, but are also capable of defending their Installation from other external threats.
Protector Sentinel
Roughly similar in appearance to regular Aggressors, Protectors are modular units capable of being modified into one of three variants: Offensive, which is a weaker version of the standard Aggressor; Shield, which projects an energy shield around its host unit; and Healing, which provides medical assistance to its host after combat.
Retriever Sentinel
The Retrievers, otherwise known as the Strato-Sentinels, are massive terraforming machines, used to gather raw materials for large-scale Forerunner astroengineering projects such as the Halo Array.
Onyx Sentinel (?)
Onyx Sentinels both guard and make up the artificial planet of Onyx. With a much more powerful individual energy beam, as well as the ability to combine and transform themselves in order to complete a specific task. Onyx Sentinels are far more formidable opponents than their more standard variants.
Super Sentinel
Considerably larger than Aggressors, Super Sentinels fill the same role as the Enforcers - combating large-scale Flood outbreaks.
Unidentified Sentinel variant
The largest Sentinel variant seen to date, this Sentinel is able to level entire cities with its weaponry.
Flood
General
Abomination: An evolution of the Juggernaut command form. The Abomination's role is to direct lesser Flood in combat, greatly increasing their effectiveness with its coordinating intelligence. Abominations are created when normal Flood hives cannot be formed and the Flood must remain mobile. As the Flood gathers strength, it will assemble attack waves of lesser Flood forms around Abominations for protection.
Aberration: Basically, take the human body (Specifically a women), but get rid of the arms and legs. Now, replace each arm with huge scythe like limbs where first the arms go up, then a joint, then angle down into the scythe. And replace both legs with a single one, where the limb first it goes down for a short amount, then up, then down in a much larger part all the way to the ground. Still looking like a scythe. That's my idea. My plan is to make it big, but very agile, fast, and able to climb almost any surface. A dozen barbed tentacles sprout out the back to impale and infect anyone around.
Blister: Small eggs that house and grow Flood forms inside. Can only grow infection and pure forms using all biomass not used to create outer layer. Created from animals too small to become combat forms.
Bursters: Burrowing carrier form. Digs through the ground before finding an acceptable location to erupt from the ground and explode, releasing whatever Flood forms are inside. Can only be located in Flood infected areas.
Spawner: Mobile Flood producer. Grows Flood forms inside itself before ejecting them for combat. If biomass reserves run out, it must be fed further to continue production. Several can come together to form a hive. Can also launch bone barbs at enemies.
Blur: Very fast, agile, and strong form. Has basic human structure, but rolls around to quickly maneuver and has arms composed of several tentacles. Used to restrain prey until they're infected or killed by other nearby Flood forms.
Anti-Vehicle
Infestor: Three legged pure form which has a large abdomen that houses acidic fluid that can be spewed at targets. Many barbed tentacles protrude out the front that can penetrate metal and tear flesh with ease. It can force itself into a vehicle and infect the pilot. It then dissolves itself so that its biomass and the biomass of the pilot spread out over the machine and take control.
Thrasher: Fast, bulky four legged pure form that crushes enemies beneath its feet. Tendrils sprout out at random which can impale and infect anything it rams.
Airborne/Anti - Air
Swarmer: Airborne Flood form with leathery wings and three pronged jaws. Two tentacle tails protrude out the back which allow it to abduct and infect targets. Able to spit bone barbs out of its mouth which excel against infantry.
Seeders: Airborne tentacle based Flood which can fire bone barbs at targets, and kamikazes at aircraft. If successful in breaching the craft, it proceeds to infect the pilot and use their biomass to cover and control the aircraft.
Monstrosity: Huge, airborne Flood 3/4 the size of an Atlas Battleship with the rough shape of a beetle. Two large pincers flanking a larger mouth on the front. Huge tentacles protrude out the back while dozens of smaller one protrude out the sides. Grows Flood inside and drops in areas of conflict. Four huge wings on the back which slowly flap to assist in maneuvering and propulsion.
Structure
Colony: Large Flood building that produces Flood at an exponential rate. Always defended by Flood forms, Tendrils, and Trapjaws. Must be fed biomass to continue production.
Hive/Spore Mound: Smaller form of a colony. Also produces Flood like the colony, but at a slower rate. Can evolve into a colony if enough biomass is added.
Trapjaw: Flood trap that buries itself into walls or the ground. Consists of a large, fleshy bowl with teeth surrounding the rim. When an organism comes near it lashes out with tentacles from inside the bowl and pulls them inside. Once inside, they are infected and dissolved into biomass which is then transferred to the nearest Spawner, Colony, or Hive through underground transport tubes.
Tendril: Enormous tentacle that protrudes from the ground. Crushes anything that comes near that isn't Flood.
Grimm
The Cross (basis created by SaibotVapor, modified by me): Finds a target host, and infects it. Turning the victim into a half grimm half human abomination. The worst part is, the victim is alive and conscious through the entire ordeal, suffering on the inside constantly. Which in turn, attracts more Grimm. Appearance is bipedal and has root like arms with sharp points and a bone mask that's broken down the middle, when it's ready to infect the mask splits down the middle and a bone masked Grimm is inside it shoots it out and it latches onto the victim and begins the transformation.
After it infects a victim, the the Grimm parasite takes control of the victims mind, and directs them to a safe spot at their home. Once there, it would mutate the subject into a Producer, which has the sole purpose of of making other parasites. Which, I've decided will take a form similar to that of a Facehugger from Aliens. Once their numbers are great enough, they'll overwhelm the town. Once that happens, the Cross will enter the city and take root, becoming larger and stronger, but also becoming a mass producer of the Vincere. Which then spread out to overwhelm other human settlements.
Vincere: It'll have a small flat body the size of a facehugger with seven eyes. It'll have a hooked tail and six total legs. It'll have two mandibles and a small mouth, along with two tentacles that protrude out of the body on either side of the mouth that are tipped with arrow like spikes. A victim infected with a Vincere will look like a regular human from the neck down. But neck up, the parasite latches onto their face with its legs around their mouth, and wraps its tentacles around their neck. The victim's eyes will turn red, and parts of skin will turn black.

VOLUME 3
Have one of the maps in the tournament be the old abandon building and have John use the matter launcher to break the support beams to drop the building on someone.
Have John acquire some of the Warden Eternals body parts.
Before the conversation could proceed any further, an alert triggered inside Aries's sensor systems, alerting him to the fact that someone was coming. He wasn't sure if they were actually coming to the room, or simply passing by, but he was taking no chances.
As swiftly as the Crawler could, Aries jumped down from the table and ran to the closet. He lifted his maw to the door handle, bit into it, and pulled it open. He then quickly ducked inside and shut the door so that there was only a crack to see through.
Less then five seconds later, just like Aries feared, the door to the room swung open, and in came Emerald, Mercury, and their leader Cinder.
As the door shut, Cinder laid her smoldering gaze on the Grey teen. "Sit." She ordered.
He shrugged, grabbed a chair, and sat down in it.
"Now, tell me again what you saw." She commanded as she began to pace right in front of him.
"As I already said, he's here. He was fighting that rich snobs older sister." He explained, and the Alpha's unanimously agreed that they were talking about Weiss, and her older sister being Winter. In turn, the man they talking about must've been Ruby's uncle Qrow. All of this was deduced thanks to the fact that Strategos had witnessed the whole thing.
"Are you sure?" Cinder asked.
Mercury nodded. "Fast, had a scythe, and smelled like my dad after a long day. No doubt, it was him."
"So what do we do?" Emerald asked from the bed she was sitting on.
Cinder stopped pacing and seemed to think for a second. "Nothing. None of them have any idea we're here, so we continue as planned.
Have the Gravemind manipulate the flood cells in Gemina's body to make her weaker, and then have Hollow hack the Uber Paladin to allow Gemina to use it. As in chapter 7 she says she read up on the specifics for the Paladin.
Have infector lie dormant in the secondary server room. "I have reviewed the footage and discovered how the Gravemind was able to attack the secondary server room without breaching the containment doors. When the Gravemind realized it was losing, it created a new class of Flood form. The new form was hidden in the Server Room, and recently revealed itself just to latch onto the server spires and connect with them. When I deployed Sentinels to remove the infection, this new form launched a projectile at my Sentinels and released some sort of spore cloud. These spores then proceeded to hack into the Sentinels, giving the Gravemind control over them. I have labeled this new form as an Infector. Also, when this unit connected with the facility systems, it seemed to give a greater connection between the network and the Gravemind then its previous form of system connection."
John crashes his Phaeton and says, "Damn. I knew I should have gotten insurance."
After Cinder's speech. "You have given them your take on your view of humanity. Allow me to give you mine. I have seen a species that discovered an element and used it to protect themselves from the monsters that roam their world. I have seen a species build walls together to keep the monsters at bay. I have seen species unite together after years of conflict to fight a common foe, and I am not just talking about humanity, nor the Faunus. I have seen a species create inventions that can protect its people without putting them and those they love at risk. And if you are willing to give up everything you believe because of one accident, in a galaxy filled with more disasters, destruction, and monsters then you can possibly imagine, then perhaps you are not the species I have been observing for so many years."
Or
"Long I have watched over you. Long I have watched, and when needed, protected you. She is correct, this is not a tragedy, nor an accident. This is merely an obstacle. An obstacle I have no doubt you will overcome. Because in the many years I have known your species, I have seen the one thing you posses that my makers never did: Your incredible tenacity. No matter how devastating or destructive the obstacles you face, you have always managed to overcome it. And if you could not, you cheat. Your will to survive has kept your species alive for millions of years. And so, do not allow for this obstacle to be your downfall. Overcome it. As you always have. I have faith in you, as did my makers. As do my makers."
All of a sudden, he felt a mind probing is own. He disregarded everything going on around him, allowing it to become white noise as he focused on the foreign entity. It didn't feel anything like the Gravemind when it spoke to him. It felt more like one of his alphas, but different. It felt bigger. Smarter.
"Yeah. How'd you know?"
"Within every Alpha is a blueprint for the rest of its kind for that relay. When an Alpha is destroyed, the blueprint is destroyed as well, and that relay is no longer able to spawn that type of unit. At least until it comes into contact with another relay and is able to copy that relays blueprint."
"So I could get the soldiers back?"
"Yes. However, you can only do that if you come into contact with another relay, and there are no more on this planet."
Agonese Seliem - Forerunner for Purity of Life - Name for Twin Boltshots.
Space. As its name implied, it was just that. Space. Mostly empty and vast, bordering on infinite. It was the one thing that every intelligent species in the galaxy had in common.
Lingering on the edge of that space, orbiting high in remnants atmosphere, was a lifeless lump of exotic metal. It had orbited for more then 100,000 years, doing nothing. For all that time, it had remained just as lifless as when it'd been first created. It had never been needed, and thus had never been told to awaken.
Until now.
Nearby, one of its cousins closed in. Unlike itself, this one was fully awake, and had been ever since Remnant's creation. It and its nineteen siblings had watched and surveyed over Remnant for as long as they had existed. They were always very diligent in their duty, and none had ever strayed from their purpose. Until Survalience Station 09 had been given specific orders to do something it had never been told to do before.
The cylindrical-like structure soundlessly floated through space, gently closing in on the sleeping station.
As it appeoached and neared within eight kilometers, it slowed itself as an automated message was transmitted to it from the sleeping satellite.
(Automated Message)
The Survalience satallite paused, and after a few miliseconds of contemplation transpitted the appropriate response with the authorization code.
(Automated Message)
With its permission, and no concern of being shot down, the satallite continued its approach.
A few minutes later, the station had neared the sleeping satellite transmitted a series of codes to it.

VOLUME 4
To John during his dreams
YOU ARE NOTHING MORE THEN A PIECE TO A NO LONGER SOLVABLE PUZZLE. A KEY TO WHICH HAS NO LOCK. A MEMORY OF A LONG FORGOTTEN PAST. NO LONGER CAN YOU EVEN DECLARE THAT YOU RETAIN YOUR HUMANITY. YOU. ARE. ALONE.
I AM SPREAD THROUGHOUT THIS WORLD, UNMATCHED AND UNCHALLENGED. I WILL LET LOOSE A WAVE OF PURITY TO WASH AWAY YOUR SINS. DO YOU TRULY THINK YOU CAN SAVE THEM?
RELEASE YOUR MIND TO ME! CLEANSE YOURSELF OF IMPURE THOUGHTS!
To Ruby when she joins John during his nightmare
"THERE IS NO HOPE."
"There's always hope!" She yelled at the abomination.
"EVERY NIGHT I COME TO HIM, AND WE SPEAK. I SHOW HIM THE THINGS THAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN HE FAILS, FOR HE KNOWS THAT THERE IS NO HOPE TO STOP IT. EVERY NIGHT HIS MENTALITY CRUMBLES MORE AND MORE, AND HIS SANITY SLIPS AWAY. YET YOU CAN DO NOTHING TO HELP HIM. HE WILL LOSE HIMSELF, BECAUSE THERE IS NO HOPE TO STOP IT. AND WHEN HE IS WEAK, I WILL HAVE THAT WHICH REMAINS TURN ON WHAT HE VALUES MOST IN HIS LIFE."
"And what's that?" Ruby asked, unable to hide her curiosity.
"YOU."
She flinched at the Gravemind tone, as well as the surprise of its answer.
"AND WHEN YOU ARE GONE, WHEN THE MAIN REASON FOR HIS CONTINUED LIVING IS NO MORE, HE WILL SURRENDER HIMSELF FULLY TO ME. AND THEN ALL THAT REMAINS, ALL THAT YOU CHERISH, WILL BURN."
"AND SO WE SPREAD FURTHER THROUGH THE IGNORANCE OF FLESH. BUT SUCH CHILDREN CANNOT GO UNGUIDED. UNATTENDED. THEY MUST BE NURTURED."
Scene where infected Bullhead fly's to one of the Kingdoms airpads and releases an infection.
