A/N: Wow, we're at the end of the road! Honestly, when I started this story, I had no direction for it other than I wanted Itachi's family to see how their actions were affecting him. However, now, reaching the end of this I'm just like "OMG, GIVE HIM ALL THE HUGS"! This chapter is mainly fluff and ties up our remaining loose ends. Thank you all so much for the support and I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.

Warning: Non-explicit sexual situations

Chapter Seventeen

"Danzo's dead."

Kisame raised an eyebrow at his husband's words, pulling the slender raven into his arms as he settled into bed of the guest room his father-in-law had gifted him. The Uchiha Clan head had given it to him with a sharingan enforced threat that if he dared to sneak into Itachi's room he'd find himself lacking an important part of his anatomy. He'd given the man a nervous chuckle, not bothering to tell him that Itachi was far more likely to do the sneaking than he was, the porcelain doll-like features hiding the devious nature very few knew the younger nuke-nin had.

True to form, Itachi had sought him out immediately, his chakra twisting intimately around Kisame's own as he slipped into the room through the window. What wasn't expected, were the words he was greeted with.

Danzo, the man behind most of the pain Itachi had experienced, was dead.

Worse, he knew for a fact that Itachi had been the one to kill him. Was it wrong to wish he'd been the one that had done it instead?

Probably.

But as his hand settled on the smaller man's waist, he also felt relieved.

Madara, or Tobi, whatever, was sane again, and no longer a threat.

Itachi's illness, once deadly, was a mild occurrence that only appeared when he overexerted himself, meaning there was less chance of him dying.

And Danzo was dead.

Everyone that could have been a threat to Itachi's life were taken care of, including that bratty little brother of his. There was no one to steal the vibrant moon-kissed raven from him this time.

Nothing.

Soft, chapped lips met his, before he felt the younger shinobi nip his lip.

He groaned.

"You're a bit far away, Kisame. Deep thoughts?"

He flushed slightly, grip tightening. "I wish I'd killed Danzo, so you didn't have to."

Itachi smiled, warm and gentle, and pressed his lips against his once more. "Then you'd be too excited for what I want."

The shark-like man swallowed thickly, all thoughts of Danzo leaving him as if they'd never graced his mind. "Y-your parents are right down the hall," He rasped, shuddering as the other's hand found the waist band of his boxers.

That smile grew downright sinful, and he couldn't help but wonder how anyone could mistake Itachi's gentle heart for innocence.

"Then I guess you'd better be quiet, anata." He replied before ducking under the blankets. As the wet heat engulfed him, the older shinobi choked off a grunt, fists clenching in the sheets to avoid burying them in the silk raven locks brushing his thighs. He could only pray that he could avoid waking his new in-laws, especially when he finally took his love.

He doubted it.

The Uchiha were missing.

It was the most fact anyone could see about the memorial for the elders. Not a single Uchiha, even the young prodigies Shisui and Itachi were present. Instead, the Uchiha compound doors remained firmly closed to the rest of the village as the Elders were laid to rest. It was suspicious…and yet the Hokage didn't even comment. Instead, he gave a warm speech for his teammates and long-time friend, dark eyes solemn.

"H-Hokage-sama?" Haruno Hiyori called hesitantly as the service came to a close. The man turned. "Hai?"

"Ano…is there a reason Lord Uchiha and his clan weren't here? We thought everything had cleared after Lady Uchiha, her son, and Uzumaki, were found."

To her surprise, their leader smiled warmly. "Actually, the Uchiha Clan is dealing with a few inner-clan things today. Fugaku-kun's eldest son married while we were in Ame as part of our treaty. They're celebrating the new couple, and naming Sasuke-kun as heir."

She gasped.

Itachi had gotten married!

What?

"B-but that only happens if the current heir enters a same-sex marriage and takes their husband's name."

"Hai. Itachi-kun chose to take his husband's name. As far as I have seen, they are very happy. His husband is a very respected shinobi from Kiri."

She nodded numbly and the Hokage chuckled, sending her a soft farewell before leaving.

All she could do is stare after him.

Still, she couldn't help but wonder what kind of shinobi could convince Fugaku to allow him to marry his heir.

*/*

This had to be a trick.

Sasuke stared at the man standing beside Iruka-sensei wide-eyed, taking in that black wide-collared shirt and the dual branded hiate holding his bangs from his face. He watched as the man stepped forward and gifted the class with a polite bow, the girls giggling nervously as he spoke.

"Good morning, I am Hoshigaki Itachi, your new assistant sensei."

His brother…was now his teacher?

How?

How had this happened?

In the corner of his eye, he could see the Hyuuga girl's hand rising shyly, a faint blush burning her cheeks.

"A-aren't you Sasuke-san's brother?" She stuttered and the raven nodded calmly.

"Hai. I got married a few weeks ago."

Naruto nodded, waving cheerfully at his future brother in law. All the while, Sasuke couldn't help but wonder if this was the beginning of their happily ever after.

It surely felt that way.

*/*

He was happy.

The feeling had crept up on him, slow and intimate, startling in its intensity. When he'd originally agreed to this, he'd done so in hopes of a second chance of giving Sasuke a better life. He'd planned to do whatever he could to make sure that his otouto didn't have to live through losing their clan a second time. Anything to atone for pain he'd caused him, the sins he'd committed.

He hadn't had any thoughts of his own happiness, no thoughts of anything beyond his yearning for rest.

Yet…

Sasuke was happy.

Even now, as Itachi stood atop the Hokage monument, clad in the white and red ceremonial robes he'd worn earlier that day, he could see his younger brother was the happiest he'd ever been. He was walking with Naruto, their hands intertwined as they navigated their way through the festival celebrating his coronation.

Their Clan was alive and thriving, his father heading the police force with the same intensity, although he'd been making an effort to be more open with them. Uchiha were even more active in the village, opening market stalls and even more had joined Konoha's shinobi forces.

Then there was this.

A tiny, secretive smile graced his lips, one hand ghosting over his still flat abdomen.

He'd fallen ill, only two weeks prior and, not wanting to worry Kisame, had gotten checked out by an iryo-nin. The news he'd gotten had been something he'd been hoping for since that fateful day so long ago.

He was pregnant.

This time with a baby girl.

He'd barely been able to keep the joy from his husband long enough to tell him the news.

No, when he'd originally accepted Kami-sama's offer, he hadn't really given his own happiness any thought.

And yet, as he gazed down at the village he'd once lied, bled, killed, and died for, the family he'd always dreamed of, and the happiness of his most precious person he realized that though he hadn't been seeking it…happiness had found him.

Beyond human view…Kami smiled.
