Before Bruce could fully open the door, a hand quickly shut it.
"I do not think that is a good idea." Mr. Foley's brown eyes glared into Bruce's. He impossibly filled the space between the door and Bruce.
"Do you have any idea why I visited your home yesterday?" Mr. Foley's eyes danced to the window down the corridor. Bruce's eyes followed. Streaks of blood orange and blossom pink peeked over the skyline. Next to the window stood men in full black uniforms. Their upper chest pocket had the abbreviation GCPD.
"Let me see my son." Bruce hardened his stance. He did not care about the officers…although he a tingling sense of what was to come.
"It does matter." A dark chuckle arose from Mr. Foley's chest as he shrugged his shoulders. "We have some things to discuss. I'm sure you've noticed the friendly officers. C.P.S. has gotten the court order to place a restraining order on you for at least 100 yards. This is on terms of child abuse."
"What?!" Bruce gritted from his teeth. "You have no proof."
"Oh. I think I do." He said with a smile. Bruce's eyes narrowed. Something is not right here.
"Who exactly are you? I want to see your accreditation. NOW."
"Now, now, now. Let's not get feisty." Mr. Foley's nudged his head to a direction behind Bruce. Bruce turned to see Tim. Shit…I forgot about Tim.
Tim's eyes had bags underneath them. His hair was matted into a small knot slightly off-centered and he hid his hands behind his back. "Tim, please go get me coffee." I can't deal with him right now. Something is not right here. What is it though?
"What?!" Tim's eye widened. "I want to see Damian too!" His voice came out as a whine. Both stared at each other and Bruce secretly hoped Tim would get his unsaid message. Bruce could see something pass behind Tim's eyes.
"Fine." Tim huffed. He slowly started to walk the way they came, but continued to take long looks behind him.
"Let me see my son." Bruce gritted once Time was out of sight. If I could just talk to him, then-then, this might all work out.
"You know that is not possible." Mr. Foley's smile deepened.
I could easily take Mr. Foley out along with those Officers. But I know something is not clicking here. Damn it I wish I could talk to Alfred right now. …or get to the BatCave. I'm thinking too much like Bruce Wayne and not enough Batman.
"Fine. Send me your accreditation for your position with C.P.S. and the restraining order." The doctors said he'll have to be in here for at least 3 days. I just don't want him to wake up alone and scared. A small part of Bruce's heart sank.
Bruce's stance hardened momentarily for the final time. "Let me tell you something. Right. Now. Mr. Foley." Bruce took a step forward as Mr. Foley took one backwards. "I know very important, powerful people. You have no idea who you are messing with."
"Are you threatening me?" Snapped back Mr. Foley.
"Oh HELL I am. You do NOT mess with me or my son! You do NOT get to mess with my family!"
Mr. Foley frown deepened as his eyes grew dark.
"We'll see about that Mr. Wayne. I do not think you know who you are messing with." With the final word and a point of his finger, the officers took his place in front of the door. Bruce could not see into the room, since the curtains were pulled over the windows.
I'll protect you Damian. I promise.
"It's about time you leave… Mr. Wayne." His words were venom.
A man in a white long coat started to approach them from the far end of the hall. As he came closer, his hair was disheveled and he had a small scar that ran in his right eyebrow.
"Are you Mr. Wayne?" His voice was long and slow.
"Yes I am."
"Please come with me so we can talk about your son's condition. I'm sure you already heard the news from C. P. S."
"Oh- "That stupid restraining order. "Yes." Bruce's head lowered slightly.
"Let's come over here, shall we?" He placed a hand on Bruce's shoulder gently to sheer him away from the door. They began to walk away the doctor turned to look back at Mr. Foley. As they locked eyes, Mr. Foley's dark grin returned and he gave a hard nod. Grinning himself briefly he also nodded.
Everything was working as planned.
