Ch.17: Happy Endings
The reunion was happy and bittersweet once Nick finally came back aboveground to deliver Razorfur over to the ZPD. Judy immediately ran to her companion and punched her partner in the arm for making her worry. Nick accepted the gentle punishment, and smiled down at the bunny, knowing that in time he would earn her forgiveness, but right now personal feelings would have to be shelved until the peace in Zootopia was restored.
With help from eager citizens, all of the Carrions were put away in jail, with their leaders Darkness, Razorfur, and Foxheart following behind them in chains. Razorfur's bombs were found and disarmed, and devastation crews came in order to clean up the mess left behind.
Days passed, and as the offenders rotted in prison, a surprising change of peace occurred as two sides, who were once at war, decided to come together to help Zootopia rebuild. Jasira and Olivia, predator and prey, joined fronts despite their differences, Olivia having a different view on just how 'vicious' some predators could be, and maybe the ones that always fought against were better than the darkness that almost had her consumed.
"Well done Hopps, Wilde," said Chief Bogo later as he met with the two animals back in his office at the ZPD.
"Thank you Sir" the fox and rabbit said " but there is still much to be done."
"Always," said Chief Bogo, then handed over something to Nick " Wilde, here is another dose of that Night Howler cure."
Nick took it, reflecting on how he acted in order convince Razorfur he was gone. In an ironic twist, it had almost been like the time when he had helped Judy out on her first case, only this time she had been infected and he had to play dead in order to save her.
It wasn't as dramatic and fun as the Bellwether hustle, the bandage on his neck was enough to prove it. Yet Nick knew, that if even if things had gone for the worse, he would give his life a thousand times over to make sure Carrots survived.
"Not if I get the chance to first," said Judy, as reading the thoughts in her partner's head.
Fox and rabbit smiled at each other, partners and friends forever, and maybe, one day, something even more.
