"This Beautiful, Special Day"
It is a lovely Spring evening on a Friday here at Gravity Falls. Family and friends are gathering here at the First Baptist Church for a very special event. The wedding of my brother Dipper to the girl he's loved ever since he was twelve; Wendy. I never thought this day would come. I remember how heartbroken he was when he learned Wendy eloped with Robbie. He tried to get over it, he dated but it never worked out for him. I remember how he moved to Gravity Falls after college, and reconnected with Wendy. She just had a bad divorce with Robbie, and Dipper's girlfriend left him for someone else. They rekindled their friendship, eventually started dating, and it finally blossomed into love. I was the first person he told after he popped the question to her when they went on a trip to Yellowstone. I was so happy for them. I remember when he brought her home to Piedmont to meet Mom and Dad, and how they warmly welcomed her to our family. I was even more happy and honored when Dipper asked me to be his Best Girl at the wedding. I go to the room where Wendy is getting ready. All her cousins and aunts are fretting over her, trying to get her hair and makeup ready. I then go to the front of the church to wait for the wedding to start. Everyone's been seated now. The processional is about to begin. Wendy's cousins are the bridesmaids with Tambry as the Maid of Honor, and Soos and Wendy's brothers are the groomsmen. The piano begins to play. The music of Pachelbel's Canon in D fills the air.
Wendy's brothers walk out with the bridesmaids and Soos walks out with Tambry. Then, it's mine and Dipper's turn. I smile and say "Ready?". Dipper smiles and says "Yes." We walk down the aisle together and see the smiling faces of our family and friends. We stand in front of the altar about half a minute, which seems forever.
Then, Wagner's Bridal Chorus begins. Everyone rises. Oh, my. How beautiful Wendy is, in that flowing, white gown. I hope I look that beautiful on my wedding day. I turn and look at Dipper, who is already shedding tears of joy. They hold hands as the preacher begins telling the congregation about the sacredness of marriage. Then, Dipper and Wendy exchange their vows. They then walk to the candelabra to join the two candles symbolizing their individual lives to light the one candle symbolizing their new lives as one. Their wedding song plays. They chose Bless the Broken Road. How appropriate. They walk back to the altar where the preacher pronounces them man and wife. They kiss. Everyone cheers as they walk out to the music of Mendelssohn's Wedding March. The reception was just as beautiful as the wedding. After Dipper and Wendy cut the cake and everyone had eaten, there was a dance. Dipper and Wendy started first and everyone joined in.
Dipper and Wendy danced, then Wendy danced with her father, Dipper danced with Mom and me, and Dipper and Wendy danced some more together. After the dance, came the big event. Wendy tosses her bouquet, and I manage to catch it. Dipper tosses Wendy's garter belt and somehow Gideon catches it. Then, the ceremony is about to end.
Everyone gathers outside and tosses bird seed at Dipper and Wendy as they get in their car that everyone decorated to leave for their honeymoon. Everyone cheers as they drive out of sight. What a day. This beautiful, special day.
