Sorry for not updating in literally years. I blame my busy college semesters and my own laziness. You've probably forgotten all about this fanfic, but just in case you haven't, I figured I at least owed you a proper ending. Enjoy.

The request Bogo had sent in to amend the partner fraternization ban wasn't met with much ruckus at all from the higher ups of the ZPD, and it passed quickly. It was just another measly Asterix to the sea of complex policy ZPD officers had to memorize from now on, but It wasn't measly to Nick and Judy.

They had celebrated the rule amendment thoroughly. They cheered, they toasted, but most importantly, they got to work being one of the very few police partners that balanced a relationship alongside their job.

When disagreements had come up in their relationship, and they had been few and far between, they had never been large enough to affect their working life. If a problem large enough ever did arise, the couple was certain they could communicate effectively and not let the problem affect their job. Not that they were worried about such a problem arising, as their communication skills were good enough to end most arguments before they started.

People around the ZPD would constantly whisper in secret how well they worked together on cases, and especially how cute of a couple they were.

Nick and Judy's love wasn't the only talk of romance peppered throughout the conversations of the ZPD, officer McHorn had proposed to his girlfriend many months ago, and nearly every officer in the precinct was invited to the wedding.

The wedding was a spectacular event. It was savannah themed in celebration of McHorn and his girlfriend's homeland. Everything from the decorations to the cake was savannah themed, that is of course with the exception of the food.

Prey guests had a choice between a delicious basil and garlic stuffed ravioli, or a dish of spiced peppers and bean paste.

Predator animals had a choice between a tray of various seasoned grasshoppers, or a seafood medley. Nick was annoyed at Fangmeyer's pickiness, as he removed the scallops in his medley and threw them on a napkin destined for the trash.

Afterwards, the attendees began to dance, first to high energy dance tunes, then romantic music. It was those same two-decade old sappy love ballads that Judy hated to hear her older sisters singing along to. But in this moment, the ballads strangely didn't annoy her. They were the perfect ambiance as Judy and Nick danced arm-in-arm. Judy had rarely felt romantic love before she had met Nick, maybe she just didn't get those songs' appeal until now.

"Do you think the informant in the Bushe case will call us tonight? He said he expected to receive new information sometime this weekend," Nick said.

"Stop thinking about work, enjoy the wedding, enjoy the dance." Judy said. She thought of how ironic it was that SHE needed to tell HIM to not worry about work.

"Yah, you're right," he replied.

"Like always."

Nick shrugged, "Eh, like 45% of the time, give or take."

They both laughed. As they did, they caught a look at each other. Nick stared into her eyes, the same eyes he first looked upon with frustration, the same eyes that looked at him with hope as he filled out his police officer application, the same eyes that tears streamed down as he accepted an apology.

"I love you Judy."

Her heart fluttered, there was so much weight behind his words whenever he used her actual name. She got on the tip of her toes to touch her lips with his.

"I love you too," she said as they parted. She rested her head against his chest.

Nick casually looked around the room as he danced with Judy and let out a sigh.

"I can't enjoy events like this anymore, keep thinking back to Sciurus Hall."

Sciurus hall was the sight of a particularly gruesome crime Nick and Judy had to investigate: an assassination attempt at a family reunion went wrong. In addition to killing the intended target, 4 squirrels, 3 chipmunks and 2 gophers were killed after a punch bowl was laced with poison. It was a disturbing case, which made it all the more satisfying when Nick and Judy captured those responsible.

"Well right now I'm feeling fine, I'm pretty sure the Mojito I had only TASTED like poison," Judy said.

Nick chuckled.

"Well if we get married carrots, I'll make sure that, worst case scenario, the cocktails taste like medicine."

Judy chuckled, but couldn't help but be disheartened at the joking tone of his comment.

"Nick…." she said diminutively. "Do you think we'll get married?"

While Judy's eyes were facing away, Nick smiled at the thought of pulling a sneaky trick.

"Well, I don't see why not. Give it time, we should know what we want to do by the end of the year."

An ambiguous answer was good enough, he didn't want to disappoint the bunny further by saying no… nor did he want to give her a hint that a newly bought purple diamond ring was being kept in his tie drawer.

The End

Yes! I'm finally free from this fanfiction, and so are you. Hope you enjoyed it.
