RWBY: The Dark Knight of Beacon.

Chapter 15: Decisions, reality check, and seeking help. (Edited 5-15-20.)

Note: For those of you that have been following my story, I am sure you're all aware that my OC character Will was like a total Gary Stu at the beginning of the story.

But that was my intention from the start.

The goal was to create a character whose feats, accomplishments, and abilities led him to think he was unbeatable and could outwit anyone, no matter who they are, only to receive a major wake-up call and realize that things don't always go the way we planned.

The battle of Beacon and the revelation of his father was Will's wake-up call.

As the chapters come out now, you will notice a change in my character's demeanor, he won't act all high and mighty like before.

He's now a lot more cautious, more aware, more focused, and he's now gonna be more of a team player, as well as a solo warrior when the situation calls for it.

I'll be using Tai as a nickname for Yang's dad as a way to condense things a bit.

Also, Yang and her father will be getting new weapons also.

NOW, before you start loosing your minds, hear me out.

I spent a great many hours and days doing research, looking up all kinds of weapons, and tossing around ideas before I came up with this stuff.

Anyway, it's show time!

It was 8:00 in the morning at Yang's house.

Will and Velvet stayed overnight and slept in the guest room.

The reason was because Tai had asked them to help get his daughter out of her funk and back into spirit, they both agreed.

At this point however, the only ones in the house were Velvet, Yang, and Tai.

William Joseph Landon had been up since daybreak performing his routine training regiment to stay in shape.

Not too long ago, Velvet asked him if he could stay outside for a while because she needed to talk with Yang and Tai about something.

Will, suspecting nothing, agreed, thinking it was probably just girl talk and stuff.

The truth was rather different.

At this point, Will was at a firing range in Yang's backyard doing a little target practice.

As he stood there reloading his Recon Ultra for another shot, he was totally unaware of what was going on behind his back with the others.

Inside the house...

Velvet, Yang, and Taiyang were in the basement, surrounded by a few cases and bags.

What Will didn't realize was that Velvet had placed a few extra orders with Bartholomew Blitzkrieg and taken some extra items as well.

Will had an entire collection of weapons in a display room back home, as well as a personal armory.

The weapons were taken from criminals and rogue hunters by the police which they then gave to Will for him to keep as trophies in his collection.

Velvet took a few of those things and was about to hand them out.

She opened up a duffel bag and pulled out a black skintight bodysuit made of cotton, lyrca, and aramid with 2 small dark grey lines running down the sides, a pair of matching boots, gloves, and light, but sturdy armor pads for the thighs, torso, forearms, elbows, biceps, shoulders, knees, and hip area, plus a helmet.

The gloves were both outfitted with 3 clandestine features.

Spider Bite: A powerful taser system for incapacitating attackers.

Shadow Line: A retractable grappling hook with 200 feet of thin, but sturdy steel wire that allows the wearer to swing over rooftops or entangle an enemy.

Shockwave Strike: Absorbs kinetic energy when the users semblance is active and doubles the impact of the hands, edged weapons, or impact weapons during combat.

She handed them all to Yang and said, "The armor pads are for extra protection around the vital areas. The suit is skintight, but it's very flexible, doesn't hinder movement, doesn't cause chafing, and the layer of aramid makes it bulletproof and blade proof. Try them on, Yang."

So she did and trained a little while wearing it for a few minutes.

The suit and armor pads made her look like a sexy, but tough individual.

When Velvet asked how it felt, Yang's response was, "I thought the armor would slow me down, but it didn't. I felt invincible. Now I understand how Will felt when he wore his fighting suit."

Velvet smiled, "Speaking of which, I borrowed a few things from our man's secret stash of weapons without telling him. If he asks, you didn't get these from me."

Tai yang asked, "What do you mean?"

Velvet answered, "It's only a matter of time before the enemy comes back for us. I think it's time to step up our game. So, I'm giving you both an assortment of weapons, 3 each, to help even the odds. Well, technically, it's 10 since 2 of the weapons don't have their own melee mode. But each one serves it's own purpose."

Yang and Taiyang were curious now.

Velvet pulled out the 1st and 2nd weapons which were called, 'Mega Buster' because they was designed to blast, pulverize, and rip through enemies with extreme ferocity.

For gun mode, it was a pair of revolvers that contained 6 rounds each within the cylinders.

Both guns measured 8 inches in length.

The guns were modified to fire the 5.7 millimeter round.

The barrels could extend from 4 to 8 inches, allowing for longer range.

For melee mode, they could transform into a set of military-grade fighting daggers, both measuring 20 inches in length.

The blades were designed for slashing and stabbing.

They were also outfitted with a tanto point for penetrating body armor.

This made the Mega Busters very versatile weapons for combat.

The weapons were colored in black and silver.

Note: Look up RWBY OC weapon Hunters Pride for image. The weapon in my story is very similar to that, but the designs are very different.

After a quick inspection, Velvet handed them to the other two while saying, "Will was correct when he chose a revolver. They never jam. Plus, having a good knife can be very important."

Taiyang took the revolver and put it in a holster underneath his vest.

Yang took her revolver and placed it in a holster on her right side near the back of her waist.

Next, Velvet asked, "Taiyang. I've heard from Will through his talks with Yang that you preferred to fight using a tonfa-type weapon. Is that true?"

Tai yang nodded, "Yup. I've always enjoyed that fancy weapon."

Velvet grinned, "Perfect! I was right! This is great!"

Then, she reached into the bag and pulled out the 3rd weapon.

It was called, 'Velociraptor.' which meant swift plunderer or fast killer as others would say.

Quite a fitting name since the weapon was designed to tear and shred through enemies with ease.

Meaning that you were almost always guaranteed an instant kill with just two strikes.

For gun mode, it was a powerful machine pistol capable of firing a 33 round clip filled with 5.7 millimeter rounds at semi or full auto.

For melee mode, at the flip of a switch, it converts into a deadly hand-to-hand weapon.

In this mode, it had two 18-inch razor sharp blades on either side of the barrel that were strong enough to cut through Kevlar with ease.

It was basically a 36-inch long tonfa-style sword.

For someone like Taiyang who was skilled with tonfa, the weapon could be flipped around for use in basic strikes.

In melee mode, it could still shoot from between the two blades due to a secondary 15-round clip on the top.

Note: Look up RWBY oc weapon Quickstrike 10mm for picture. My idea in this story is similar to that design, but mostly different.

After making sure that the weapon was in fine condition, Velvet handed it to Taiyang and said, "This is concealment, speed, and lethal advantage."

Taiyang was impressed and awed with this new weapon.

Yang was getting a little impatient, "What about me?"

"I'll get to you, Yang. Let me finish with your dad first." Velvet admonished.

Yang huffed a little, but said nothing.

She was beginning to think that there was nothing very special in that bag for her at all.

But, that was about to change.

Velvet dug through the bag a little before pulling out the 4th weapon.

It was called Graceful Flurry.

For gun mode, it took the form of a powerful high-velocity sniper rifle.

It's other form was travel mode where it separated into 2 pieces and folded up for easy transport.

After doing a quick check, Velvet handed the weapon to Taiyang and said, "This is accuracy and stopping power."

Taiyang and his daughter were feeling a little giddy right now.

Velvet turned to Yang and said, "I saved the best for last."

Yang watched as Velvet pulled out the 5th weapon.

This was no ordinary weapon.

In fact, it was something completely different than anything they had seen before.

It was called, 'Deadshot' because it was designed to be lethal and deadly in gun battles.

It started off as a large handgun with an adjustable folding butt-stock.

The butt-stock also served as the weapons primary safety mechanism.

Meaning it needed to be folded out and locked into position.

Only then, could the gun fire.

A select-fire switch allowed for pump-action or auto-loading.

The reason for that was because of a high-tech attachment module that allowed the weapon to become a powerful 12-guage, 8-round, magazine-fed, tactical shotgun.

After making sure that the weapon was working properly, Velvet gave it to Yang and said, "This is tactical."

Yang was gushing at her new shotgun weapon.

Pulling out the 6th and final weapon was much easier now that the bag was nearly empty.

It was pretty small, but there was a reason for that.

It was called, 'Dragon Claw' because it was designed to be light and compact, but could still tear through enemies with relative ease.

For gun mode, it took the form of a modified Beretta 92-F machine pistol.

A select-fire setting allowed for semi-automatic or 3-round burst fire.

The weapon had a 21-round magazine and was modified to accommodate the 5.7 millimeter bullet.

For melee mode, it transformed into a two-handed, singled-edged, machete measuring 30 inches in length.

After checking the weapon, Velvet handed it to Yang and said, "This is firepower and cutting power."

Yang was stunned!

All in all, Yang and her father were armed to the teeth.

Taiyang had a folding sniper rifle for long-range combat, a machine pistol/tonfa sword for mid-range combat, and a revolver/fighting knife for close-range combat.

Yang had a tactical folding shotgun for long-range combat, a machine pistol/machete for mid-range combat, and a revolver/fighting knife for close-range combat.

Velvet then did a quick clean up of the room and said, "Okay, you two. I think it's time for some target practice and combat training."

And everyone agreed.

At the firing range outside...

As Will stood there by the safe zone at the firing range nursing a water bottle, he soon heard a voice say, "Hey! Will!"

He turned around to see Velvet, Yang, and Tai coming towards him.

His first question was, "What brings you guys here?"

Taiyang replied, "I need your help with something." and explained the situation, saying that Velvet had placed an order for new weapons at Yang and her fathers request.

Will, still unaware of what was really going on, agreed.

So, while Velvet and Taiyang did some target practice, Will took it upon himself to train Yang in the art of sword fighting techniques which could be applied to using her new machete.

Therefore, they spent the next 3 hours training.

At first, Yang had some trouble getting the patterns down as Will continued to break through her defenses.

But eventually, she started to get the hang of it as Will reminded kept reminding her, "Remember. It's like an extension of of your body. So don't think, just feel."

At one point, Will said in a joking manner, "I have confidence in you, Yang. Channel your inner vagina. Let the ovaries flow through you!"

When Yang finally got the technique down, Will decided, "Now for some real power. Channel you semblance into the machete and use it to destroy that boulder over there."

Yang did as instructed and swung the machete to her left, releasing a yellow blast of energy that hit a nearby boulder and blew it to pieces.

Will was impressed, "That was some serious strength. I thought it would take all day to get this far. But, I'm proud to have been proven wrong. You picked up on those techniques fairly quick. You're quite a fast learner, Yang. There's still a lot of work to do, but you're making great progress."

Yang asked, "How long would you estimate that I need to train for?"

Will thought for a few minutes before saying, "I would estimate that if you train this hard for about... 3 weeks, then you will be shooting farther, you will be moving faster, and you will be striking harder than anybody else on your team."

This thought made Yang a little excited.

Will replied, "The reason why I estimate that is because, even though using a machete in combat demands immense skill, this is one of those situations where the design of the weapon really shows you how to use it."

And so, the training continued, except this time, it was more focused on the sword and the knife.

By the time they were finished, it was 5:00 in the afternoon and the sun was almost down.

Suddenly, Will's scroll beeped.

When he saw what the message was, he sighed.

Velvet asked, "What wrong, sweetheart?"

Will said, "The police are having trouble with a robbery in downtown Vale. 4 armed suspects are holding at least 20 people hostage at a bank and the police are pinned down. Chief Henderson called and said that she needs my help. I've got to go to work. See you later."

Then he kissed both girls goodbye, suited up, and left.

Along the way, Will really wasn't looking forward to this because he had a falling out with the police a month ago.

During his meeting with the city officials, Will was blamed by police chief Michael Henderson for what happened at Beacon Academy and for making the police look bad by interfering with their business.

The reason for that was because, over the years, with all the accomplishments Will had achieved, Chief Henderson began to see the boy as a target of hate since Will accomplished stuff that the police force was struggling with.

But the chiefs daughter, Rachel Henderson, who was a police field commander, knew better.

As far as training, equipment, weaponry, and protocol was concerned, the police force was lacking in all those areas.

All of it was the equivalent of a prison guard.

Chief Henderson didn't see it that way and became so jealous of Will that it soon turned into hate.

After the fall of Beacon, Ironwood's superiors tried to have Will condemned so they could avoid any of the blame.

But William Joseph Landon did not crack under gestapo critics.

And when it came time for him to take the stand, he said this to the council, "Ladies and Gentlemen, you are asking me to assume the whole responsibility for the misfortune. BUT YOU'RE WRONG! Need I remind you that I was already dealing with my own private investigation on a possible attack directed at Beacon. I was trying to find what they were after so that I could get it away from the school in hopes of stopping the attack. It wasn't until too late that I learned what was happening. Plus, I was trying to evacuate my friends and family out of harms way. Also, I received no orders from anyone telling me to remain on the front lines. You were warned and urged to stay undercover to avoid being seen by the enemy. And what did you do? You exposed your entire military force in front of everyone despite me telling you that it was a bad idea. The defeat was not a result of my negligence of duty, but in large part, your fault! Therefore, it is not I, but you, who should be held responsible for the defeat!"

The court was stunned!

Many of them knew of Will's record and were inclined to believe him.

So, in the end, he was released without charge.

Police Chief Michael Henderson did not take kindly to that news.

In fact, it drove him so mad that he openly attacked Will after he left the council chambers.

Naturally, Will beat him to a bloody pulp, and Chief Henderson was arrested.

With her father unable to maintain the police force, Rachel Henderson was promoted to chief by the royal family of Vale.

As soon as she took office, she completely overhauled the entire department and gave every single officer a full month of SWAT training.

She also upgraded the equipment as well.

Apart from the usual jumpsuit, body armor, combat boots, tear gas grenades, pepper spray cans, tasers, handcuffs, and stuff, there were also a few major changes.

Every single officer was now equipped with a Beretta 92-F semi-automatic handgun that carried 20 rounds.

The officers also carried a 29-inch collapsible baton for close-quarters combat which could also function as a 10-inch silencer for the handgun.

Another thing included was a collapsible shield for high-risk situations.

And lastly, each officer carried an MP-7 sub-machine gun equipped with a 40-round magazine, a collapsible stock, a scope, an extra folding handle, and a silencer.

All of which were suggested by Will.

But despite all that, openly being attacked by an officer like that caused Will to lose nearly all his trust in the entire department.

The only 2 people that he trusted on the force now was Chief Rachel Henderson and Lieutenant John Blake.

Rachel Henderson was 31 years old, 5-10, 194 pounds, athletic build, reddish-brown long hair tied in low hanging ponytail, purple eyes, and light beige colored skin.

John Blake was 29 years old, the same height as Rachel, 201 pounds, short black hair, dark brown eyes, and a dark olive tone complexion.

At the bank...

After 20 minutes of flying, thanks to the rocket thrusters in his boots, Will finally made it to the bank where the robbery was taking place.

John Blake was there waiting for him.

Will asked, "What's the situation?"

John replied, "4 suspects, 2 outside, 2 inside, each armed with automatic weapons. 20 hostages inside. They've got armor-piercing bullets. Is that a danger for you?"

Will shook his head, "No. I'll be fine. It's clear that we can't go through the front door. Is there any other way in?"

John Blake nodded, "There's an underground maintenance shaft that leads into the back office where the manager works. What's the plan?"

Will said, "You and the other officers get a perimeter set up, so that they don't get out. I'll sneak in and neutralize the suspects. Are you with me?"

John nodded.

After that, Will disappeared behind the building, opened a manhole, dropped into it, and began to make his way inside.

Over the radio, he heard police sniper Jeremy Edwards say, "Suspect's trying to get the driver-side door."

Will replied back, "DO NOT let them get mobile!"

With Jeremy...

Perched atop a building 50 yards from the bank, squinting through his scope, Jeremy waited as one of the robbers got inside their car.

Without hesitation, he fired his rifle.

The round crashed through the windshield and hit the suspect in the throat, killing him instantly.

After confirming that the suspect was dead, Jeremy reloaded his rifle and replied into his radio, "He's down."

And he continued onward.

After 5 minutes, he was in the back office.

As soon as he scanned his surroundings, he radioed to Lieutenant John Blake, "White knight to white rook. Back office is clear. Almost to the lobby."

Over the radio, John Blake whispered, "Be careful, Will. One of the suspects is holding a hostage at gunpoint. We've managed to take down both suspects on the outside. But now we have a more dire situation on our hands."

Will replied back, "I've got a plan. Just keep them talking."

Then he heard John Blake say, "Roger that."

The radio clicked off.

As Will attempted to pick the lock on the office door, his helmet scanner showed that the door was unlocked.

He carefully opened it and peered out into the lobby.

Rather than go out and risk endangering the hostages, Will stayed behind in the back office and waited.

After 3 intense minutes of waiting and listening to the officers attempts to negotiate, Will's moment arose.

When the suspect who was holding a hostage at gunpoint pointed his weapon towards the front entrance, Will didn't hesitate.

He pulled out a flash-bang grenade, pulled the pin, waited 2 seconds, then threw it out into the lobby.

John Blake replied back, "Understood."

The radio clicked off and Will went to work herding the hostages outside of the building.

John Blake made sure they were all checked out by a medical unit, only to find out that none were seriously injured.

John thanked Will for his help, then the two friends said goodbye before they departed.

As Will was about to leave, he heard a voice call out, "Hey!"

He turned around to see a group of 3 people coming towards him, a man, a woman, and a little girl who looked to be around 6 or 7.

As soon as the group was close enough, Will opened up his helmet enough so that his face could be seen and asked, "Can I help you?"

The man shook his head and said, "Not really. I just need to ask. Are you William Joseph Landon? Vale's greatest crime fighter who was nicknamed Batman?"

Will nodded, "The very same. Why?"

The man answered, "Awesome! My family and I have always appreciated your efforts in making this city a safer place and have always wanted to meet you. Hi, my name's Eric." then held out his hand which Will happily shook.

The woman said, "I'm Melody. Eric is my husband." and held out her own hand.

"Yeah. That's quite an outfit." said Eric with enthusiasm.

Will nodded, "And I need every piece of it when I go out to fight crime."

He looked back at Natalie before asking, "Would you like to know what each piece does?"

"Okay." said Natalie as she leaned out from behind her mother and looked curiously at Will.

Making sure to leave out the most top-secret points, as it went against his contract, Will gave a brief run down of his equipment.

When he was done, he said gently, "So here's something I want you to remember, Natalie. If you're ever in trouble, don't be afraid to ask me for help. I might look a little scary with my suit, but it's my job to protect good people like you from bad guys. Okay?"

Natalie nodded, "Okay."

"Feeling better?" asked Will.

Natalie nodded, "I'm okay."

Will smiled, then turned around, activated his wing pack and flight boots, rose off the ground, and took to the skies.

Will spoke in a suspicious manner, "Velvet, what have you been doing behind my back? And what did you take without asking me?"

Velvet said in mock innocence, "Nothing."

Rather than getting upset, Will just chuckled and said, "Well, whatever you did, I'm glad you did it."

Then he heard Yang call out, "Will, can you help me out here?"

Will walked over and asked, "What's the problem, Yang?"

She replied, "Remember that technique you demonstrated back at Beacon? Primary... Secondary...something?"

Will realized what she meant and said, "Oh, yes. Why?"

Yang replied, "Not that I don't like any of these, but which one should I use for what situation?"

Will answered, "Personally Yang, I would designate the Deadshot as your primary weapon and the Dragon Claw as your secondary weapon."

Yang thought for a moment and said, "That's a good idea."

Will nodded and told her to practice the drawing, deployment, and striking steps for a while.

Which she did for the next hour.

When they were finished, Will said, "Looks like you've gotten it down pretty good so far. I guess that means you deserve a little reward."

Yang frowned, "A reward? What kind?"

Will smiled, "Follow me." as he led her inside and up to her bedroom.

Thankfully, Taiyang and Velvet were in town doing a little shopping which made things all the more easier.
