"Oh Jaune Arc, what are we going to do with you?" Lux chided with her arms on her hips. Caitlyn stood next to her. Akali leaned against the closest wall on the opposite side of the bed. Jaune had just told them a simplified story of how he had ended up in his predicament. "We leave you alone for less than a day and this is what you get yourself into."
Jaune shrugged from under the covers. "I'm a professional thrill seeker." It hadn't been too long after his nap that his team had decided to come visit him after hearing about what happened.
Lux rolled her eyes. "Definitely not a comedian."
"I suppose some things never change." Caitlyn sighed in reminiscence. She could recall multiple different occasions when Jaune had gotten himself hurt trying to help other people when they were in school together. "I'm glad you're doing alright love."
"Yeah me too." Jaune smiled. "But I can't wait to get out of here. Sorry if I ruined your nights."
"Stop." Lux shook her head vigorously. "The only thing that's ruined my night is the dumb stunt those morons pulled at the capitol."
Jaune's expression turned serious. "Do we have any new details?"
Lux shook her head again. "The entire chamber's in chaos right now. High Council is focusing all of their efforts on electing a new Prime Minister. An official investigation won't start until they do. That's what Garen's telling me anyway."
"A new Prime Minister?"
Lux raised an eyebrow. "You haven't heard? Donald Clinton is dead. His family too."
Jaune's mouth gaped open in shock. "Even his daughter?" He remembered the joyful little girl and felt his heart clench.
Lux nodded solemnly. "It seems they were caught in the middle of a shootout."
Jaune could only shake his head. The room turned grim.
"Any idea on who they're considering to replace him?" Caitlyn meaningfully changed the subject.
"It's a short list." A new voice answered. Cardin Winchester entered the room dressed in full combat gear with a rifle attached on to his back. "They're looking at Headmaster Yi right now."
Lux crossed her arms and looked the opposite direction. Cardin took notice and in return rolled his eyes. Caitlyn shifted uncomfortably between the two.
"Headmaster Yi would be good." Akali spoke up. "They don't come much cleaner than that."
Jaune had to agree. Yi was Lionheart's successor as the Headmaster of Haven Academy. Throughout his years as a student there, Jaune had come to know him quite well. A soft spoken man disciplined in honor and courage, Headmaster Yi was someone Jaune would follow into hell and back.
"Yeah well it's not a close race." Cardin shrugged. "If everything goes well and he accepts the offer, they'll swear him in tomorrow night."
"They really told all of this to a lieutenant?" Lux asked mockingly.
Cardin cocked an eyebrow. "I'm a Captain now actually. And you're not the only one with friends in the council."
"Wow, a promotion!" Lux exclaimed sarcastically. "Guess all of that ass kissing finally amounted to something. Great job! I mean, really impressive."
"You really want to do this right now Lux?" Cardin threw his arms up in exasperation. "I mean, how much more self centered could you be?"
"Oh I'm the self centered one? That's hilarious. You can't even-" She stopped when she felt a tight grip on her forearm, and turned to see Caitlyn slowly shaking her head. Lux let out a sigh, a sad look fell across her face. "Whatever." She lightly touched Jaune's hand. "Text me if you need anything." And with that she was out the door.
"We'll go make sure she's ok." Caitlyn echoed a sigh as she followed her friend out. "Rest easy Jaune." Akali gave Jaune a quick nod before leaving.
"She still hates me man." Cardin said as he sat down on one of the chairs in the room.
"You broke her heart." Jaune reminded.
"Guess so." Cardin muttered. "But it's better this way, trust me."
"You guys seemed happy though. I thought it was going to work." Jaune admitted. "You want to talk about it?"
"There's nothing to say." Cardin waved off. "I dumped her and now she wants nothing to do with me. The end."
It was obvious to Jaune that there was more to it, but he decided to let it slide. Cardin didn't seem comfortable enough to share. "If you say so."
Cardin caught the teasing tone. "Fuck off bro. I'm not the dumbass strapped to a hospital bed."
Jaune chuckled. "Fair point. But keep talking shit and you might be."
"Ha!" Cardin snarked. "Somehow I really doubt it." There was a short stint of silence. "Nora told me what happened, what were you thinking anyways?"
"I'm the dumbass strapped to a hospital bed. Clearly I wasn't."
"It's Weiss isn't it?" Now it was Cardin's turn to tease. "You totally have the hots for her again."
Jaune was caught off guard by the sudden accusation and was at a loss for words.
"Wait a minute, is that actually it?" Cardin burst out laughing. "You're unbelievable."
The blonde knight found his voice and laughed along. "No man it's not like that."
"Bullshit motherfucker. I saw that look on your face."
Jaune smiled thoughtfully. "It crossed my mind." He finally admitted. "I did feel like we really connected again." He paused. "But it wouldn't work."
"Oh I've heard that one before." Cardin crossed his arms. "So what's the excuse this time?"
"She lives on the other side of the world." Jaune started with the obvious. "Plus, I don't think she's ever seen me in that kind of way. And honestly I'm happy with our relationship the way it is right now."
"Keep lying to yourself." Cardin smirked. "You'll never know unless you ask though."
Jaune took a second to consider his friend's words, but eventually shook his head. "I don't think this is the right time for that."
"Yeah, maybe not." Cardin turned serious. "I'll be honest, it doesn't look good. The first time the capitol gets bagged in the kingdom's history and we don't even know who did it yet. There's a good chance more attacks could occur, especially with everything in disarray right now."
"Weiss said Atlas had intel on the White Fang possibly being involved." Jaune offered.
"That's the first group our intelligence is looking into. But it could also be local. We're still waiting to hear back from our undercover assets from the surrounding areas. Either way, things could get ugly."
"I'll do some digging when I get out of here in the morning." Jaune stifled a yawn. "I don't think I'll be much good in my current state."
"Yeah get some rest and enjoy that bed while you still can." Cardin stood up. "I gotta go, just wanted to drop by to make sure you weren't dead yet."
"I'll let you know when I find something." Jaune promised.
"Don't kill yourself." Cardin slapped a hand on Jaune's shoulder and headed for the door. "Oh, and talk to Weiss." He turned around and winked. "It might not be a great time, but if you don't do it now you might never have the chance again."
His friend was gone before Jaune could say anything else. The blonde knight shook his head ruefully, but something about Cardin's words struck a chord. Once his old friends left for Atlas there was no telling how long it'd be until they'd see each other again. The connection he shared with Weiss was rare. Their short time together in the past couple of days reminded him of that. But was it really feasible? He really felt like the timing couldn't be worse. And how would Weiss react to it all? She'd probably think he'd completely lost his mind. Jaune shuddered at the thought. No. He couldn't afford to be distracted like this. His mind was wandering too much, he needed to rest. Having made his decision, he shut his eyes awaiting the drift into nothingness. But as he struggled to fall asleep a certain someone kept finding their way back into the center of his thoughts, no matter how hard he tried to stop it. Her.
Beacon Academy - 6 Years Ago:
Jaune shut his textbook and breathed a sigh of satisfaction. This was probably the most prepared he had ever been for an exam. A week straight of studying and he was sure there couldn't be a question he wouldn't know. He glanced at the clock. It was a little past midnight. It was later than he would have liked to stay up but he'd have about seven hours to sleep. Yawning, he packed his things into his bag and prepared to leave the now almost empty library. He couldn't keep the wide grin from forming on his face. He was finally on top of all of his schoolwork. The responsibility of leading a team had really pushed him to perform to the best of his abilities. He wondered if this was what Ozpin had intended all along. But as he got closer to the exit, the smile turned into a frown. Sitting in the corner by herself was the least likely person to still be there at this hour.
Weiss Schnee was not having a good night. She knew there was a test in the morning. She knew she needed to study. She knew it and yet she had still let herself get dragged into an afternoon shopping spree with Yang and Ruby. Grimm Studies was her least favorite subject, and she had barely looked over any of the material since she had spent so much time planning the dance. She couldn't understand how Ruby found this stuff so interesting. No doubt her team leader would do well on the test without even having to try. It was infuriating to think about. But deep down, Weiss knew she was more angry at herself than anything else. For better or worse, her teammates had changed her. There was no way she would have ever considered ditching schoolwork for a trip to the mall before she met them. She buried her head in her hands with a sigh of frustration. I'm such an idiot.
"Well that doesn't look good." Jaune's voice echoed across the silence.
"Jaune." Weiss looked up in surprise. "What are you doing here?" She berated herself as soon as the words left her mouth. Why would anyone be in a library?
"I uh...work here" Jaune tried to joke.
"Really?" Weiss cocked her head. "Since when?"
"Oh you know...since the beginning of time." Jaune trailed off awkwardly. He didn't have a punchline ready and honestly had no idea where he was going with this.
Instead of laughing or giving any hint of amusement Weiss only gave a blank stare. "...What?"
Jaune cringed and mentally slapped himself. Why did he have to go and make it weird? He and Weiss were finally on good terms and he was on his way to ruining it again. "Wow that joke was actually awful." Jaune shook his head. "Sorry I don't know what I was thinking." He looked down at his feet and waited for the insult telling him to get lost. But the heiress said nothing, and then burst into laughter.
"That was so bad!" Weiss giggled uncharacteristically. Despite her predicament she couldn't help it. And it was nice to get a laugh in before her impending doom. "Thanks Jaune, I needed that."
Jaune blinked in complete shock. He had never seen her laugh this hard before. And she was actually being friendly with him. Sure it made sense since they were supposed to be friends now, but that very idea was still somewhat foreign to him. It felt nice. He smiled. "Yeah, guess I need to work on that." He noticed her books on the table. "So are you ready for this test?"
Any signs of happiness instantly vanished from Weiss's face. "Oh don't remind me." She groaned. "I'm completely screwed."
"You?" Jaune couldn't believe it. "But you're Weiss. You must've gone through all the notes and chapters ten times over by now."
Weiss could only continue shaking her head as she sunk deeper into misery. "I haven't." She confessed. "I haven't looked over any of it and I have no idea about anything he put on the review."
"Oh it's not that bad, here I'll help you out." Jaune said almost immediately.
"You really don't have to." Weiss protested, but he was already sitting down across from her and unpacking his notes.
"It's no big deal." Jaune waved off. "Plus the extra review would be good for me too."
And so it went. The two of them going over the study material. Jaune quizzing Weiss occasionally and answering her questions about key topics. The heiress had to admit it was a lot easier studying with someone who knew what they were doing. And Jaune was great. He was patient and very detailed in his explanations. Not once did he judge her for not knowing something. She felt completely at ease and found it even kind of fun. Before either one of them knew it it was already five in the morning.
Normally, Weiss would feel sluggish only sleeping two hours, but she was pumped with adrenaline for the test. Plus she was used to getting little sleep from having been forced to stay up late to practice her singing when she was younger. The test was a lot easier than she thought. Everything Jaune had taught her the previous night stuck like glue and she was flying through the questions. Her scantron was completely bubbled in with half the class time still left to spare. As she got up to turn it in, she looked over at Jaune who was still slowly working through the questions. Probably just double checking all his answers. She thought to herself. So she packed her things and waited in the hallway for him to come out.
Jaune was straight up not having a good time at all. It was like his mind had just decided to quit on him out of nowhere. He was constantly second guessing himself and reading the questions wrong. There were multiple questions where the right answer was right on the tip of his brain but he just couldn't recall it. He barely finished before the time expired.
Weiss could tell something was off the moment she saw Jaune come out the classroom. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"I bombed it Weiss." Jaune sighed in defeat. "I don't know what happened, but I completely froze up. Nothing made sense."
Weiss's mouth fell open. "What? But you know this stuff! How's that possible?" Everything they had went over together was on the test, and Jaune had explained them to her like he was talking about his home. There was no way he wouldn't know the answers to any of the questions.
Jaune shrugged. "I don't know. I really don't know. Guess I'll just have to do better on the next one. Right now I think I just need some rest. I'll catch you later." He smiled weakly.
Weiss said nothing. She had frozen in horror. Rest. At that moment, the heiress felt like the worst person in the world. That had to be it. Jaune probably couldn't think straight because he was fatigued. That idiot! From what she had heard from Ruby before Jaune was an early camper. He probably wasn't even used to staying up past midnight, much less five in the morning. And now because he had, he might've just failed a test he should've passed with flying colors. All because of her. Weiss felt her fists clench. This was the second time Jaune had done something nice for her by sacrificing himself. Nothing about it was fair. She hadn't given him anything back in return. It was time to return the favor. If they were going to be friends then she would need to have his back as much as he had hers. An idea came to her head. An idea so crazy to her that she couldn't believe she was even entertaining the thought. But she didn't know what else to do.
The faculty hall was located right below Ozpin's tower. At night, all of the professors would have gone back home already so it was empty. Besides the hallway being lit, everything else was dark. It was under these conditions that Weiss found herself sneaking in until she found Professor Port's office. She still couldn't believe she was actually doing this. If anyone caught her in the act she would probably expelled. But she had to make things right. She had already come this far, there was no turning back. She briefly glanced around to make sure no one else was there, then checked the floor crack to see that the light was off. In one fluid motion she activated a glyph on the door handle and heard it unlock. She quickly slipped inside and locked it again. Turning the light on would've been too risky so she opted to use the flashlight on her scroll instead.
Walking up to the professor's desk, she found the stack of scantrons. Ungraded. She smiled to herself. Bingo. She pulled Jaune's test and her own from the stack and compared them. Jaune really had butchered it. The heiress was surprised at just how much he had gotten wrong. Your fault. She reminded herself. And now for the deed. Weiss hesitated. What she was about to do went against everything she was taught. She wondered how her old self would have reacted to it. Who cares? Taking a deep breath she erased the first wrong answer from Jaune's scantron and filled in the correct one. She gasped out loud as soon as she did. Did I really just do that? This was it. There really wasn't any turning back now. Weiss found herself shaking uncontrollably. She was definitely going to get expelled if someone saw her. All she wanted to do right then and there was to run back to her dorm and dive under her covers. But then she remembered why she was there. This was for Jaune. He didn't deserve to fail because of her own incompetence. Taking a few more deep breaths she steadied herself and went back to correcting answers.
Professor Port's booming voice sounded from the hallways. Weiss felt the hairs on the back of her neck shoot up. What in the world is he doing here?! She had barely corrected five answers and there were at least three times that amount left. The sound of footsteps grew louder. He was headed straight for his office. Weiss felt her heart rate multiply. There was no way she could finish the whole test now. At this point, there was only one option left for her that would fix everything.
The door swung open and Peter Port flipped the light switch on. The large man walked towards his desk, talking to someone on his scroll. From her hiding spot behind the door, Weiss stealthily snuck around it and back into the hallway. Clear. Breathing a sigh of relief, the heiress took one step forward and...
"Ah Miss Schnee!"
If he was any louder Weiss would have fainted. She slowly turned around and found herself face to face with the man. He was no longer on his scroll.
"What brings you here at this hour child?" The professor questioned.
"I...er just taking a walk." Weiss struggled out.
The professor raised an eyebrow. "In the faculty hall?"
"Y-yeah. I was looking for a change in scenery?" She really hoped the professor couldn't see how profusely she was sweating.
"Why are you sweating so much?"
"I was jogging before." Weiss blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
"In heels?" Port indicated Weiss's outfit.
The constant stream of questions combined with her own inability to tell a convincing lie began to irritate Weiss. And with that, she found her conviction again. "Why are you here so late anyways professor?" She asked a little bit more harshly than she had intended. But she genuinely wanted to know. Seriously, what the hell?!
"Ah yes, of course." The professor cleared his throat. "It would seem I left my house keys here. I was just telling my wife I'd be home late for supper."
"Oh nice, well I have to go now bye!" Weiss abruptly ended the conversation and hurried off.
Peter Port scratched his head in confusion. "What a bizarre girl." He muttered aloud.
Weiss jumped in the shower and turned it to the coldest setting. She was hyperventilating so much she thought she was going to puke. She was sure that all the stress she had experienced from her little stunt that night had just shortened her life by at least ten years. She darted straight into bed afterwards even though it was barely nine. She didn't want to see or talk to anyone. It was a good thing tomorrow was the weekend. She had to calm down. And there was no better cure for that than sleep. Everything would be better in the morning.
Eleven hours later and she woke up to a fever and a sore throat.
It was easily one of the worst days of her life. Weiss hated being sick. It didn't happen often, but that gave all the more reason for her to hate it more. She hated how unproductive it made her. How all she could do was lie in bed while everyone else went about their business as usual. Her team had gone into town to hang out that day which left her alone. Bored. Miserable.
It was mid afternoon when Jaune came to visit her. The young knight seemed to be back to his usual cheerful demeanor. "Oh man, looks like the test took an even bigger toll on you than it did on me." He observed as he grabbed a chair and sat next to her.
Weiss felt too weak to speak so she simply nodded. Oh you have no idea.
"How are you feeling?" He asked.
Weiss shook her head.
"So bad that you can't talk?"
A nod.
"Well if this is how it's going to be then maybe you shouldn't stay up so late before a test next time." Jaune suggested innocently.
If looks could kill then the glare she sent him would have sliced his head clean off.
Jaune actually jumped back in his chair. "I mean, no offense at all! I'm sure you'll come back stronger than ever." He chuckled nervously.
Weiss rolled her eyes and decided to calm down. It wasn't his fault he didn't know what he was talking about.
"Here I actually brought you something." He pulled out a plastic container from the paper bag he was carrying and opened the lid.
A combination of different flavors flared into Weiss's nostrils. It smelt good, even though she had no appetite.
"This is the soup my mom would always make for me when I got sick." Jaune explained. "Her's is probably better than mine, but still, I thought it might make you feel better."
Weiss's eyes widened. He made this? For me?
"Here try some." Jaune encouraged, holding the container up to her.
Weiss hesitated. She really wasn't hungry. But the fact that he had made it just for her compelled her to want to at least have a little bit.
"Don't tell me you're going to make me feed you." Jaune teased when she didn't move.
She glared at him again, but there was no animosity. She slowly sat up and gently took the container from him before stuffing a spoonful in her mouth. Her eyebrows immediately shot up in delight and she took in another spoon. She nodded at him enthusiastically.
Jaune laughed. "I'm glad you like it." He scratched his neck shyly. "I haven't made it in a while so I was worried I might've messed up."
Weiss had a few more bites before setting the container on her nightstand. She wasn't sure if it was just the soup that was making her feel so warm inside.
His scroll rang and Jaune picked up. "Hey Pyrrha...yeah everything's fine I'm coming now!" He turned back to Weiss. "I have to go, but I hope you feel better soon Weiss. Take your time with the soup!" And with that he was gone.
At first Weiss didn't know how to react. What was Jaune doing running off with Miss Perfect. What were they going to do together. Who did she think she was...Stop. Weiss shook her head to clear her thoughts. They were partners, of course they'd hang out together. And Pyrrha was her friend too. She didn't understand why she had to get so worked up over it. She sighed. The heiress figured she was probably just frustrated because she was sick. That was a logical explanation. She laid back down in bed to try and fall asleep again. At least the time would go by faster that way. She didn't do anything for the rest of the day. But she did finish the soup.
A week later and the results for the tests came back at the end of the period. Jaune gasped audibly when he looked at his. "What in the world?!" He put his hands on his head in disbelief. His shocked expression eventually turned into a huge smile. "No way!"
Weiss inwardly smiled. Seeing his reaction was confirmation for her that she had done the right thing. Jaune was running towards her now, smile still beaming. He ran up to her row...and he kept running up a couple more behind her until he was level with Pyrrha.
"Pyrrha look! I got a 95!" He said excitedly.
"Great job Jaune!" Pyrrha congratulated. "I knew you could do it."
Weiss felt the blood drain from her face. She was at a complete loss. It felt like time had frozen momentarily. And she just sat there staring at the score written on the scantron she had in her hands. The scantron she had swapped her real one with. 68. Tears threatened to leave her eyes but she shunned them. So this is what it feels like. She thought to herself as she remembered all the times she had turned Jaune down. I guess we really are even now.
It was then that Yang decided to look over her shoulder from behind. "Wow Weiss, a 68? You did even worse than I did!" She laughed.
Weiss felt the color return to her cheeks. On second thought, we are NOT even. You owe me Jaune Arc. Big time.
Present Day:
Weiss stared at her own reflection in the glass of her half empty drink. She had never told that story to anyone before. She was the only one who knew what really happened in the faculty hall that night. The real reason why she got a 68 on that midterm and finished with a B in the class instead of an A. Reflecting on it now she was still glad she switched their names on the scantrons. He got the grade he deserved and she got what she probably would've gotten if he hadn't helped her. It all worked out in the end. But the thing she remembered most vividly was the embarrassment she felt when Jaune had gone to Pyrrha first instead of her. She could recall every second of that moment like watching a movie. At the time she blamed it all on herself, but she was wise enough to know better now. She didn't blame anyone or anything. With her and Jaune, it just seemed like the timing was never right.
Still, it didn't help that her old friend had never left her mind since she left him at the hospital. What he did today had reminded her of that story. It was still the same script. Him sacrificing for her. Not just her. Everyone. That was just the type of person Jaune Arc was. She considered herself lucky to be able to call him a friend. And if she was being honest, she felt like there was still something there between the two of them. Only, their two kingdoms were probably about to be on the brink of war with each other after the day's events. Again, timing. In other words, not meant to be. She thought as she slowly brought the glass up and took in the rest of her drink. She made sure to let the bitterness settle in her mouth before swallowing. "Another one please." She signaled the bartender.
"Make that two." Came a tired voice beside her.
"I almost thought you weren't coming." Weiss teased.
"Sorry I'm late." Yang apologized with a grin. "Long day."
Weiss chuckled. "That makes two of us. How was it with Ren and Nora?"
"They showed me their office and we talked for a bit." Yang replied at length.
Weiss raised an inquisitive eyebrow. "Talked?"
Yang rolled her eyes. "Yeah ok they gave me a free session where I talked about my feelings for like two hours. Beautiful stuff really, wish you were there." By beautiful she really meant dark and heavy.
Weiss caught the sarcastic tone and replied in sync. "Well beauty isn't really my thing. I'm more of a violence and gore type of girl you know?"
"In that case I have the perfect guy for you. His name's Steven, he's a doctor, and he likes to cut open dead people. He might seem super weird at first, but once you get past all of that, he's actually really sensitive and sweet."
"You seem to know a lot about him."
"Well yeah, he's my ex."
Weiss cocked her head. "So you're trying to set me up for failure?"
Yang shrugged. "One girl's trash is another woman's treasure right?"
"As long as you're the woman and I'm the girl." Weiss smirked.
Yang broke character first. "Oh ho ho, you're getting better at this Weiss."
"Well I learn from the best." She squeezed Yang's forearm.
"Don't you ever forget it." Yang winked. "Soo, how did it go with Jaune?" She asked as the bartender served their drinks.
Weiss took a sip. "I'm just glad he's doing ok." She half answered.
"Uh oh I know that face." Yang pressed teasingly. "What aren't you telling me?"
"I...it's nothing really." Weiss deflected.
A knowing expression fell on Yang's face. "Oh my gosh, I totally called it!"
"Stop it Yang." Weiss sighed.
"But I'm right, don't even try to deny it. You can't hide from me girl." Yang smirked triumphantly.
"Ok fine, yes." Weiss gave up her charade. "But nothing actually happened."
"Oh let me guess." Yang cocked her head. "Bad timing?"
"Well it is."
Yang burst out laughing. "Man you're hopeless."
"What would you have done then, since you're so smart." Weiss challenged.
"Talk to him about it duh!" Yang answered easily. "Jaune's a nice guy, you really think he's going to lash out at you?"
"Of course not. I just...I like the way things are between us right now and I don't want to..." Weiss took a deep breath. "Truth is I'm scared." Yang went silent. All signs of teasing were gone from her features and she looked at her friend intently. Weiss went on. "I don't know how he'd react if I told him and that scares me. Like I said, I like the way things are right now and I don't want to ruin that and create an awkward vibe every time we're around each other."
"But aren't you curious of what he'd say?" Yang asked. "What if he feels the same?"
"What if he doesn't?" Weiss countered. She was initially answered with silence so she continued. "And on top of all of that, it really is a bad time."
"Maybe." Yang eventually replied. "But when is there ever the 'perfect' time for anything? I think you're getting too caught up on the what if's. Thing is, you don't even know when the next time you see him again might be. So why not just clear the air instead of having this cloud of doubt hang over you for who knows how much longer. I mean, technically it's been six years and you still haven't said anything. Maybe now is the best time if you look at it that way."
Weiss didn't have anything to counter with. Everything Yang said made sense and yet...The ex-heiress chuckled. "You know, I can't wait for the day you find someone so I can give back all the shit you've given me."
Yang laughed. "Oh don't worry, I'll tell you every single detail. You'd be begging me to stop. And by the way, did the elegant Weiss Schnee just curse in public?"
Weiss mentally slapped herself. Damn Alcohol. "What time are we meeting Ren and Nora tomorrow for breakfast?" She decided not to acknowledge it.
Yang rolled her eyes. "I think they said nine."
Weiss glanced at the clock. 11:23. "Let's finish these and head back then." She decided as she laid her tip to the bartender down on the table.
"Sure thing boss." Yang gave a mock salute. "To being single?" She lifted her glass.
Weiss smiled. "To being single, thanks for the talk."
Yang smiled back. "Always." The two touched glasses and downed their drinks.
A/N: Oh yeah baby, your boy is back again with the sick 6 month update. Added a little more fluff than originally intended bc of that. Hope you all enjoyed. Cheating is bad btw, just don't do it :p
