She was sitting on the bench, writing off what she needed to do tonight in her notebook. A sunflower yellow dress flowed to above her knees, with a denim jacket over it. Her brown waves fell past her ear, over her cheek. He stopped a respective distance in front of her, causing her to look up at the shadow, and he uttered a soft "Hi."

She blinked. "Hi."

"I hope I'm not entirely bothering you, but I saw you while I was walking and let you know your dress is pretty-" He backtracks quickly, "ah"ing in sputterment, "I mean it is. It's very pretty. And you... You are..." His ears turned red at his wording predicament. He didn't plan on not getting out his words correctly.

She watched his attempt at recovery, and almost felt a smile as he became embarrassed. He wore a purple plaid button up, cuffed at the elbows, dark washed jeans, converse, a whistle necklace and a tousled blond head adorning his appearance. The shy girl opened her mouth to spare him, "You like my dress?"

He stopped and looked at her as she spoke. Her voice was a steady soprano and soft, matching her appearance. "Yes- I mean, I do like your dress. But I also meant to say," He took another look at her, and took a quick deep breath. "You're sunflower."

Taken back and her breath temporarily caught in her chest- maybe her heart- she blinked wide eyed. "Like... My dress?"

"Yes... No... You're sunflower."

He got shy the same time she did. She found herself smiling as she trained her eyes on her notebook, her heartbeat flitting a little. She turned her head back up at him. "And what does that mean?"

"That you're bright. And you stand out in a sea of people because of it. It's what makes you beautiful."

A startled grin slowly spreads on her lips, her eyes locking on his hazel ones. He returns the smile, pure sincerity never leaving his ambiance. He stood up from the bench. "And I just wanted to let you know that."

To his standing form, she quickly realized that truly is all he wanted to let her know and a surge of gratefulness went through her. She smiled up at him. "Ally."

His eyebrows rose, disappearing behind his golden fridge, bemused.

Ally gave another cute smile, her hands folding on top of her notebook. When he understood, a grin broke upon his face.

"Ally." He smiled, already attaching the name to all her adorable features. "My name is Austin."

Ally grinned and nodded earnestly. "Thank you. For the compliment."

Austin returned the nod gingerly, his eyes on her as he smiled. "Have a good day, Ally." He back stepped with a foot.

The brunette stared at Austin, a new happiness exuding from her. "You too."

He grinned. "Thank you." He back stepped another before turning and began walking away.

With her stomach having a flurry, Ally's eyes stayed on his back. In the tingly feeling and warmth in her cheeks, she leaned on her hands somehow, elbows propped on her lap as she stared at the last spot he was at before he was gone around the corner. Seconds were actually minutes before she turned back to her notebook, her palms covering her warm cheeks. Ally smiled giddily and closed her eyes briefly before resuming with writing things down.

A/N: This actually took a complete different turn from what I planned to write but that's okay hihi. I actually wrote this for a reason but I'd rather say it (maybe). I'm also not sure whether to make this a two shot or keep it a one shot, so let me know! Have a lovely February.
