'Telepathic Communication'

Visions/Predictions

Theta now comes into the room, picking up a Rubik's cube from that had been at the foot of George's bed. I went to sit on the beds edge beside the boy, squeezing George's hand, while Alex had since gotten back up and began pacing again, "Maybe it was things on the telly, you know?"

"Right," my Doctor simply replied, now rather distracted with solving the toy.

It's easy, the cube, I've seen him solve one many times before, even with his eyes shut, behind his back, but it seemed to me that this time...he wasn't at all focused on it. I kept feeling his eyes drifting upon me every now and then.

"Scary stuff, getting under his skin, frightening him."

"Mmm-hmm."

"So we stopped letting him watch."

"Oh, you don't want to do that," Theta looked up giving him a small smile, then me a wink returning him not such an amused look, while he struggled with the cube.

"Then Claire thought it might have been something he was reading."

"Great. Reading's great!"

"Do you like bedtime stories, George?" I asked kindly with a smile as he returned a nod.

"Yeah?" my Bonded smiled back, turning to lean himself on the bed more, laying on his stomach, "Us, too. When I was your age, about, ooh...a thousand years ago, I loved a good bedtime story. 'The Three Little Sontarans.' 'The Emperor Dalek's New Clothes.' 'Snow White And The Seven Keys To Doomsday,' eh? All the classics. Rubbish," about to throw the cube over his shoulder, finding me more interesting instead.

Just as he began to smile, I felt my cheeks heat up slightly catching a hint of what he was thinking, yet, there was such a time and a place for him think about such things out loud.

I cleared my throat just to snap him out of it holding my hand out for the cube. He passes it to me, as I give it a look over seeing if I can solve it myself, "Must be brok..." only for me to stop him mid sentence solving it in a few seconds, pretending to glare at the cube with disappointment, "I hate those things," George laughs at Theta just as he got to his feet snatching the cube from me, whilst my senses dragged my eyes to the cupboard in the rooms corner, "Well, let's not be rude now, I'll just tidy up a little. How about in here?" his eyes drifted over at the cupboard, probably now having seen the worried expression on my face, making George gasp, "No?" he looked at him, "Not in the cupboard."

"Why not in there, George?" I go back to gently squeeze the young boys hand.

"It's a...thing," Alex explains to us, "A thing we got him doing ages back. Anything that frightens him, we put it in the cupboard. Creepy toys, scary pictures, that sort of thing."

"And is that where the monsters go?" I asked softly. He looks back at me and nods, eyes filled with fear. Without thinking I lightly brushed some hair away from his head and placed a gentle kiss on top of George's head, "Don't worry no monsters will get here you have us to protect you," I promise to him. It...really is the the most awful thing, having everything that scared a child put into a cupboard just across from his bed, in the poor boys mind, knowing that's where the monsters live and it was just too dangerous.

I hadn't realised he had tucked himself into my side, just as Theta slowly approached the cupboard, "There's nothing to be scared of, George. It's just a cupboard..."

A frightful looking man with a big black dog approaches the flat.

"The door," I call out.

"Yes, dear it's a cupboard door I can see that."

"Not that door," I shook my head at him, "The door somebody needs to answer it."

Only just a moment later there's loud knocking at the front door.

Alex looked rather taken aback as he blinked, "Front door..." he stuttered glancing over at me oddly, wondering how I knew it would happen. The knocking started up again and he left the room to answer it.

"How did you know that?" George looked up at me with his wide eyes, not with fear, but interest, "Do you know magic?"

"Oh, yes she's super duper magical," Theta came back over to the bed, sitting at the foot of it, he let's out a small chuckle and whispers to George, who looked at me in awe, "She's psychic."

"Hey, nobody's supposed to know that mister," I pretend to be offended, before kicking Theta lightly with my foot making George laugh.

-Doctor Who-

"Evening," we heard the man entering the flat, he's obviously the landlord.

"Oh, hi..."

I exchanged looks with Theta as we watched on through the slight crack in the door, as Alex talked to his landlord in the sitting room, "How's Claire?"

"Good, thanks. At work. Look, er, this really isn't a good time. Maybe later I..."

"And the kiddie?"

"Good. Yeah."

"You know how I hate to mention it, but it's that time again."

"Yes..."

"And you know I like my money prompt."

"The thing is...I still haven't found anywhere since the shop shut, and Claire's wage only goes so far. I thought we could, you know, come to some sort of arrangement."

I glance down at George still nestled into my side his gaze watching the door, a small frown on his tiny features before looking to my Bonded, just as he caught my, gently nodding his head at George, with understanding. I give the boy a reassuring squeeze before sliding off the bed onto my feet pulling out my sonic and turning it on to begin a scan of the room.

"Is that a torch?" George asked me, staring what's in my hand.

"Screwdriver!" my Doctor offered in defence, "A sonic one."

I returned a smile before whispering secretively to the child, "And other stuff. Much more magical than any old torch."

"Please may I see the other stuff?" George asked excitedly.

I looked to Theta who gave an approving nod, "You may." Returning a smile I aimed my sonic to the toys lined up on the floor, activating those with batteries, making them all move at once, "Ah, pretty cool, eh?"

Putting my sonic away I went to sit back beside George, gave him a small hug before affectionately sweeping some hair off his forehead, "Good now that's much better," as I booped his nose with a finger as he smiled up at me, "Now there's that smile."

"No tears from George," my Bonded agreed with a nod, "That's what we've heard. Go on, give us a smile, there's a brave little soldier," Theta gave another nod Bit rusty at this. Thank the Lord I've still got Serena, eh?" I felt my cheeks heat up just a little, and him smirking out the corner of my eye, knowing he could still get a rise out of me, even though I had a lot on my mind, "Anyway, let's open this cupboard, eh?" Theta gets to his feet pulling his sonic from his jacket, "There's nothing to be..." the sonics pitch increased rather quickly, a frown appearing on his face, "Off the scale..." he breathed silently, before collapsing on the bed, rather looking rather stunned, "Off the scale!" we shared a brief look of alarm, "How..."

My gaze returned to George who was now again staring at his bedroom door, watching Alex and the landlord Purcell.

"All I want is my 350 pounds," I sense the man glaring at Alex, "Simple as that. Night, night. Come on, son. Come on," and with a tone that was final he turned on his heels and left, taking his dog with him.

Theta put a hand on George's shoulder just as I got up and moved over towards the cupboard, crouching before it placing my hand on its surface, trying sense anything unusual, just as Alex comes into the room, "Right. Sorry about that. So, have we got this thing open yet?"

"No!" Theta jumped to his feet, "No, no, no, no, no. You don't want to do that!"

"Why?" Alex looked to him.

"Because," I get up off the floor and look to Alex, "George's monsters are real."

-Doctor Who-

I could sense Alex was confused and angry as his eyes bore into the back of my Doctors head who was currently searching frantically throughout the kitchen cupboards. Whilst I was perched on the sofa in the sitting room, skimming through the photo album once again, "You're supposed to be a professional! I'll never get him to sleep now!" Theta finds some teacups, "It's so irresponsible."

I scoffed, "Normally this is him on a good day."

"No, Alex," Theta just simply ignores my comment, "Responsible. Very. Cupboard bad. Cupboard not bare. Stay away from cupboard."

"And there's something else," I call out just as a slight throb began in my head, frowning slightly, "Something we've missed. Something staring us in the face," I feel him looking at me, just as something comes to me, I instantly sat upright.

Creepy looking dolls are chasing after Amy and Rory in a house. One of them getting turned into said dolls.

'Rena what did you see?' Theta looked at me with concern.

'Something very not good, Amy and Rory are in deep trouble,' I frowned in concern, before I realise Alex is staring at us wondering what's going on, 'Better do something quick or something bad will happen. So just follow my lead.'

He gave a nod before asking, "Something wrong dear?"

I coughed before looking at him, "Oh, sweet Lord..." shaking my head pretending to be annoyed with him, but Alex probably couldn't tell the difference right now seeing how angry he was, "I'm becoming more like you each day and I honestly don't like it!" I wagged my finger at him.

He puts on a pout and returns to making tea.

"Look, I'd like you to leave, please," Alex interrupted, "You're just making things worse. Will you stop making tea!" he snatches the cups away, "I want you to leave!"

"No," Theta took the cups back, he looked to me just as a headache comes on, knowing I probably need it right now.

"What? What do you mean 'no?'" Alex went to shut the fridge, "Leave! Get out!" Theta made another attempt with the fridge only for it to be shut again, "Now, please! Look, maybe this was a bad idea. We should sort out George ourselves..."

"You can't Alex please," I plead getting up from the sofa, clutching the album to my chest approaching both of them, just as my Bonded finally got into the fridge to grab the milk and pour it into the mugs, "You need our help more than you know."

Those albums were telling me something important, the photos held the key, a vital clue but it was just something...something I couldn't see.

"No one's going to tell us how to run our lives," Alex now glared at me, "I don't care who you are or what wheels have been set in motion. We'll sort it!"

"We're not just professionals," Theta shook his head, "I'm the Doctor and she's Serena."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means we've come a long way to get here, Alex," I stepped up to him, even if I am shorter than him, "A very long way," I add narrowing my eyes, tone rather firm, "George sent a message. A distress call, an SOS if you like. Whatever's inside that cupboard is so terrible, so powerful, that it amplified the fears of an ordinary little boy across all the barriers of time and space."

"Eh?" Alex asks, trying to say something. But I could tell he was quite intimidated by a woman of my short stature and the brightly coloured dress that I was wearing.

"Through crimson stars," I nod.

"And silent stars," my Bonded adds.

"And tumbling nebulas like oceans set on fire."

"Through empires of glass..."

"And civilizations of pure thought."

"And a whole, terrible, wonderful Universe of impossibilities."

"Want know something about these eyes?" I get right up into his face and stare him down, "They're impossibly old eyes. And one thing we both can tell you, Alex... that monsters are very much real."

Alex swallowed harshly my gaze, "You're not from Social Services, are you?"

"First things first," Theta clapped, "You got any Jammie Dodgers? I think Rena is a bit peckish," he smiled at me.

I blink at him as he winked at me before rolling my eyes as he went back to the cupboards...when I realise I'm actually hungry as my stomach gave slight gurgle.
