"Matt how do you do it?" Poe earnestly asked as he, Rey and Kylo Ren made their way to the mess hall for dinner. It had been another long day of work and they were all weary for a meal.

The radar technician looked over at the enthusiastic pilot, trying to hide his annoyance. While Ren could tolerate Rey, the same could not be said for his roommate. However, it wouldn't have looked good if he simply ignored him, no matter how much he wanted to.

"Do what?" Ren finally responded.

Poe reached out his hand and playfully ruffled his hair, "Keep your hair so perfect in this humidity! No matter what the weather's like it never changes!". This earned a glare from Ren, especially since his entire wig was almost pulled off.

Don't kill him. Don't kill him. Don't kill him. Ren internally repeated to himself.

"Yeah, what's your secret Matt?" Rey added. "Back on Jakku the air was really dry so my hair stayed intact, but here it's always a mess! Your hair is unreal."

Kylo Ren internally panicked. Rey was on to him, she knew his hair wasn't real. She knew he ordered it from a Party City on the HoloNet. She knew-

"I wish my hair was as nice as yours," she admitted offhandedly.

Ren backtracked. Okay maybe she wasn't on to him.

Rey has nice hair too though…wait I need to focus!

Kylo Ren shook his head to clear his thoughts and looked at the scavenger. "What you're saying is…you like my natural blond hair, right?" he clarified.

Rey gazed back at him in confusion. "Yeah? I just told you that."

"Okay," He plainly replied. The second Ren spoke, he cringed at how awkward he sounded.

Why couldn't you just say thank you like a normal person?

Because you're not a normal person a voice in his head piped up.

Poe and Rey exchanged a glance, but thankfully didn't comment on his strange behavior. Putting the conversation behind them, they continued on to the mess hall. Kylo Ren was supposed to be looking around and keeping tabs on the Resistance activity, but he found it hard to concentrate. He couldn't get over how he reacted to Rey.

Why do you care so much? A voice in his head asked.

I don't he boldly replied.

Liar it whispered.

He clenched his teeth in frustration and chose to focus on walking. Thankfully it wasn't long before they arrived at their destination. Just as the trio approached the doors of the mess hall they were met with a large crowd that gathered beside it.

Poe studied the excited group of people. "What's going on?" he asked.

Rey tried to stand on her toes to see over everyone's heads. "I'm not sure. Want to check it out?"

Ren opened his mouth. "No-"

"Sure!" Poe cut off.

Kylo Ren frowned. He didn't want to say it out loud, but he really wanted to get in line at the buffet and eat before his idiot Uncle showed up.

Not hearing him, Rey and Poe wandered closer to the crowd so he was left with no choice but to begrudgingly follow them. As they got closer, Ren noticed that the crowd surrounded someone who appeared to be speaking and holding a stack of flyers. The speaker was oddly familiar to him for some reason. He had short brown hair, green eyes, and wore a similar jumpsuit.

Realization suddenly struck him and he internally groaned. "Nin Tendo," Rey and Ren complained in unison.

Hearing his name, Nin Tendo looked over at the newcomers. "Well, if it isn't my coworkers," he stated. "Come to learn about the auditions for my exciting new play?"

Since when did this imbecile start writing plays?

"Play?" Rey inquired as if reading his mind.

Nin Tendo broadly smiled. "Yes! Morale has been low lately, so one of the other Resistance members suggested I put on a show!"

"What's it called?" Poe enthusiastically asked, immune to Rey and Ren's history with the man.

"I call it, The Force Awakens," he dramatically replied. "It's based on a firsthand account of how the Resistance beat the First Order on Starkiller Base!"

"Wait, wait, wait. You're making a play about us?" Rey incredulously asked.

"Yeah, what else is there to make a play about?"

Vader Kylo Ren thought in irritation.

Rey's brow furrowed. "If the show is about us, why didn't you ask us to play ourselves?"

"Sorry no can do, you're gonna have to audition like everyone else," Nin Tendo explained nonchalantly.

Ren observed the girl's eyebrow twitch in annoyance. "But why would we audition to play ourselves?" she asked in disbelief.

Nin Tendo placed his palms together, "Listen, Tey-"

"It's Rey. I'm literally your boss you should know this-"

"-Rey, there's a lot of talent on this base and it wouldn't be fair to everyone if they didn't get a chance to be a star."

"But-" Rey was cut off by Nin Tendo shoving a flyer into her hands. "Auditions will be tomorrow at 6, read the flyer for more info! Now if you'll excuse me-" he stated before turning to talk to other interested Resistance fighters.

Rey looked like she was about to crumple the flyer, but thought better of it and huffed in annoyance before breaking away from the crowd and heading into the mess hall. Poe and Ren were left hurrying behind the fuming Force user. Ren could feel her exasperation radiating off of her and through the Force. He would have vocally sympathized with her over how difficult Nin Tendo could be, but Snoke said compassion was off limits, so he stifled the feeling.

Once they were parked in the buffet line, Poe tapped Rey's shoulder. "Mind if I take a look?" Poe asked while pointing at the flyer.

"Knock yourself out," she dryly stated before handing the paper to him.

Poe cleared his throat and began to read. "Looking for people to play the following roles: Rey, Finn, Poe, Stormtrooper 1, Stormtrooper 2, Kylo Ren, and Palpatine? Why the heck is he in this?"

Rey gave Poe a bewildered look. "No clue," she replied with her arms in the air.

Wait did he just say my name? Kylo Ren thought, ignoring Rey and Poe's conversation about Palpatine's existence in the play.

Poe gestured to the flyer. "Maybe we should audition?"

"I don't know… with Nin Tendo as the director I doubt it'll be good," Rey responded. "He can barely rewire a calcinator, how's he going to put together a show?"

"Yes, let's do it," Ren suddenly announced.

Hearing him, Rey and Poe quickly looked at the technician in surprise.

"What's with the sudden interest Matt?" Rey asked.

Kylo Ren mentally scoffed at their reaction. There was no way he would ever let someone else have the role of Kylo Ren. He wasn't about to let some half rate Resistance member screw up his character. There was no one in the galaxy who could pull off his mysterious Dark Side charm better than he could. Anyone in the role other than himself would be an injustice. No, he needed to play Kylo Ren like his life depended on it. Not only for a true portrayal, but because the show would be an uplifted form of art because of it, no matter the director.

"Like you said, the show's about us-I mean you guys so you should play yourselves. It wouldn't make sense otherwise."

"I mean it might be fun, eh Rey?" Poe said, nudging her with his elbow. The pilot then turned to Ren. "Who do you want to play Matt?"

The dark Force user pretended to appear torn. "Oh I don't know, maybe a small role like Stormtrooper 1 or 2."

Poe looked at Rey and gestured to Ren with a grin. "See even the newbie's on board!"

"I don't know…I've never acted before," she hesitantly replied. "There wasn't time for that on Jakku."

Poe shrugged. "Wouldn't really be acting if you're playing yourself, right?" The pilot then threw his arm around the girl's shoulder and brought her closer. "It even says here that the cast gets provided with free snacks!" he said pointing at the fine print on the flyer.

Rey's eyes suddenly widened. "Wait…did you say free snacks?"
