A New Adventure

Today was a special day for the Shepherds and the people of Ylisse -as well as the people of Valm, Ferox and Plegia- for today officially marked the tenth anniversary of the destruction of Grima, and the eradication of the Grimleal. It was a time remembrance, celebration, and festivities. People came from far and wide to celebrate this grand victory against evil together.

As the celebrations traversed into the later hours of the night, the people began to gather into the town square for a special display, courtesy of Miriel and Laurent. Fine rockets they were. Bursting in the bright colours of the rainbow and falling back to earth like spring flowers. At the end of the show, two special rockets were set off, and they burst in the effigies of two dragons: one gold, the other silver. After a round of applause from the audience, Chrom exalt of Ylisse -and leader of the Shepherds- got up in front of the crowd and delivered a speech.

"People of Ylisse and Plegia, Regna Ferox and Valm. We are honoured to have you all here today on this joyous evening." This earned a roar of approval from the crowd. I'd like to thank you all for coming her to celebrate our victory against the fell dragon Grima." Many more cheers rose from the crowd. "But!" at this exclamation the crowds went silent, "This day goes not just to us, but to all our friends and family who were lost to the flames of war. And five years of peace would not be possible without the co-operation of all. So let's take a moment of silence to honour the fallen."

Hats were taken off and heads were bowed as silence spread across the assembled. When the moment ended, Chrom gave the crowd his blessing, and the party resumed. A band was set up to performe music for the people to dance to, and they danced -as surly as is the sun and moon. Almost everyone was dancing. be it in groups, pairs, or on their own, and those who were not dancing were merely socializing. Or they were having a drink. Such was the case for Owain, Chrom's nephew, who was helping himself to some ale after dancing in a group with some of his friends.

While taking a swig he sighted his pal Inigo sipping some ale from the barrel across from him. He was watching the dancing and a content smile was on his face.

Owain stepped over to his friend and greeted him with a slap on the back. "Salutations Inigo."

"You know, you could simply say 'hello,'" replies Inigo.

"I could, but where's the fun in that?"

"Okay, I give."

"So what is the expert dancer doing off the dance floor?"

Inigo flushes at the question. "I wouldn't exactly call myself an expert-"

"But that's not answering the question now, is it," Owain interrupts.

"True, true," Inigo says. "I was merely taking a break. Even us dancers need to kick up our feet, otherwise we would not be able to walk off, and would most likely wear through our shoes."

"Alright, but the night is still young, and there is plenty a lovely lass prancing about. I thought you were one to never turn down an opportune joust, unless you still want to teach me the move, 'Eternal Chastity.?'"

Inigo frowns and lets out a gruff "hrumpf" "If that's the case," he adds. "Why don't you pick out a lass for me?"

Owain gives an impish smile. "Sure, why not. I've always wanted to play matchmaker."

Inigo looks horrified. "Please don't-"

"I'm just kidding," Owain reassures his friend as he scans the crowd. "Mostly," he adds. Ignoring the slightly panicked look on Inigo's face, Owain finally finds a girl who appeared to be available, and who happened to be his friend's type.

"Alright mate, why not that little lassie over there?" He proceeds to direct Inigo in the direction of the girl.

"Owain...you do realise that is Severa, right?"

"Yeah- Wait, what, really?" Owain studies the girl more closely, and sure enough it is Severa. Owain was confused as to how he didn't recognise her. Was it the dress? Had he simply become too used to seeing her in her armour? Or was it that she had done her hair a different way? Or both?.

"Soooo... Are you going to-" Before he could finish, Inigo hands over his ale to Owain before striding off towards Severa. He then proceeds to sweep the lass off her feet and pull her into a waltz. Severa is initially surprised by this bold move, but the shock fades as her face grows red. Though not from anger (like Owain had been expecting to happen) but rather from, something else? She didn't even try to break free. She was even smiling.!

Owain was deeply surprised. He was also intrigued. "I need to get to the bottom of this," he tells himself. For now, he simply watched. Mesmerized as the two danced away from the bright lights of the party, and into the dark shadows of the city.

Meanwhile Chrom, who had been dancing with his wife Sumia moment's ago, was busy putting little Lucina and little Cynthia to bed, 'cause unlike their future selves they were both too young to stay up for long, especially Cynthia who was the younger.

"Goodnight, my little princesses," he whispered as he walked out. There was no reply, for they were already fast asleep. He therefore closed the door and proceeded to head back to his own bed, where his wife Sumia was patiently waiting for him. On his way though, he was stopped by a voice calling his name. He turns to find his best friend Robin approaching.

"Evening Robin. What brings you here? I thought you would be with your wife by now."

"I hate to bother you at this time," Robin replies in a heavy voice. His eyelids drooping every other second, and a muffled yawn escaping his mouth. "But Frederick would like to speak to you before you retire. He didn't mention if it was urgent or not."

"Hmmm, I see," Chrom replies as he strokes the beard on his face. "I suppose I can go meet with Frederick before retiring for the night. It simply means Sumia will have to wait a few more minutes for me. Thanks for bringing the news, now be off to bed before you collapse on the floor. No offense my friend, but you look dead on your feet." With that they depart. Robin goes off to bed, and Chrom goes searching for Frederick. He finds his general in the throne room, holding a paper with a broken seal on it.

"Hello Frederick. I was told you wanted to see me."

"Hello mi lord, and yes I do want to talk to you, of something of great importance."

"And what might it be?" Chrom asks, intrigued.

Frederick passes the paper to Chrom, who sees it is a letter. He reads it slowly and carefully while Frederick explains things to him. It is a letter, from a kingdom that lies far southeast in the ocean, named Hyrule. They have apparently heard of our reputation and their queen has invited us over to discuss the possibility of an alliance, and a trading partnership."

Chrom spent many minutes studying the letter and thinking about the offer before asking Frederick what information he had on Hyrule.

"Not much mi lord. I could scarcely find anything in the records, and what I did find was not encouraging. It would appear Hyrule has a very dark and bloody history, full of many large scale conflicts within itself. And none of this info is recent. At least hundreds of years old. I couldn't tell you anything new. Not even about their military or queen."

"Hmmm. In that case, I think the best course of action would be to give them the benefit of a doubt, and to accept their offer. Write back a reply. We leave for Hyrule in a weeks time."

"Understood mi lord," Frederick says with a curt bow. Perhaps you might want to freshen up for the visit. Might I suggest a haircut and a quick shave."

At this Chrom brings his and up to his beard and then drags it through is hair. "Yeah, perhaps I am in need of a cut and a shave. And you as well."

Frederick lets out a small chuckle at this. "Ha, ha; true sir. I am far more scruffier than I used to be. It seems I need to follow my own advice. Well then, without further ado, goodnight mi lord."

"Goodnight, Frederick."

With that, the two men exit the room and retire to their beds where their wives were patiently waiting for them. Little did they know as they blew out the light, that their visit to Hyrule would be more exciting than they originally expected.

Updated chapter one done. Much better writing than before. Stay tuned for updates on the way.
