Before We Are Out of Time

"Yuzo..."

The pink-haired boy looked up from staring at the destroyed scenary around them, to look at his childhood friend, Yuko Sakaki. The tomato-headed girl leaned back on her feet before deciding to take a seat beside him, a sad look in her usually smiling red eyes.

"Do you think that this is the fate of Standard, of all the dimensions, too?"

"No." Yuzo shook his head as he wrapped his left arm around her shoulders. "We will stop the Professor... don't worry."

"I hope so..." Yuko watched as Shun Kurosaki talked to Reiji Akaba in the distance, Serena darting around them in clear disbelief as Yugo tried to calm her down. It was obvious that their counterparts weren't used to this, despite the banana-headed look-alike having been here before. She frowned as she looked up at Yuzo and nodded as a smile graced her face once more.

"You are right. Then we will go back home and enjoy Entermate dueling as it should be enjoyed!"

"Yes..." he chuckled, ruffling her hair as she began to babble about all that she would do when they got back safe and sound. He couldn't understand it but he had a bad feeling about this. Were they strong enough?

Yuzo shivered as he felt like a dark voice spoke to him, the sunlight reflecting in Yuko's bracelet...

That night when they all went to bed with Shun being the first guard, Yuzo wrapped his arms around her again before he closed his eyes. He could pretend that everything was alright this way.

Even as they got up the next day, ready for what could be the last battle.
