Leon lit a cigarette as he waited for Amelia propped against his car. He took a few drags off it before rain started to fall. Just my luck.

Amelia had practically disappeared as soon as they returned to the U.S. When he questioned Hunnigan about her whereabouts she cut him saying she had no more clearance and to just wait. Everyday he waited for news about her just the way he visited her apartment everyday. After 3 weeks he heard she was back but she had eluded him masterfully. She hadn't resumed work yet, but Hunnigan admitted she was released. Turns out she had been held accountable for not only their illegal excursion but for compromising the data and ultimately the fact that it was missing. All of it landed on her. Earlier today he had exploded at work with his boss. "That's why she was kept?!" He had yelled. Amelia had been interrogated like a criminal when all this time she had been aiding them, helping him, and she had taken the blame. "If you laid a finger on her-" he had threatened. Which landed him this suspension and he found himself outside her apartment. He'd wait days if he had to. She'd show up. She couldn't hide forever.

After some time a taxi pulled up and someone stepped out. Heels clacked quickly on the pavement as they crossed the street in the rain. They came to a sudden halt and that's when Leon turned. Amelia stood right there. Hands in her trench coat she only looked at him. It was dark now and hard to decipher her facial expression. Leon only stood there, drenched and feeling stupid. No words came out.

Jake awoke to a terrible headache. As he reached up to his head dry blood flakes came off and onto his fingers. Fuck.

He felt fury rise in him as he stood up groggily. He looked around and growled underneath his breath. She had betrayed him and he wanted to get back at her and yet, how stupid he had been, how stupid he was, as he kept asking what if it was really Jen?

He made his way down the hospital, but of course she was gone. He figured she'd make her way back to her friend, but why the betrayal? Just who was she?

Amelia choked on tears and tried to regain composure. She stopped for a moment and tried to take deep breaths, but the tears wouldn't stop. Fuck, she cursed underneath her breath. She felt everything from the strong pressure at her chest to the aching leg beneath her. Silence consumed her all around except the crunching of snow beneath her feet. She found herself retracing her steps.

Jake roamed the abandoned city. His fury had dissipated for the most part and he found himself roaming aimlessly, disappointed, hurt.

When he rounded the corner of an old hotel whose facade was burst in probably by a tank a shadow passed and stopped in front of him.

His eyes wide in surprise became slits as he recognized the figure, it was her.

"Jake-" she began cooly.

"What were you thinking?!" He shouted as he charged forth at her. She didn't move but he didn't hesitate and grabbed her hard by the arms. "What the fuck was that about?!" He shook her. She winced in pain, he was holding her tight, his strength was unmeasured. His ice blue eyes broke after that though, "just who are you?"

"First off let go," she stated. He found himself taking a deep breath and releasing pressure on her arms, but kept hold of her. She looked up from his hands on her to his eyes.

He looked desperate for answers. She found her resolve breaking. It was true. She did know him, she had known him, but things weren't simple. They could never be again. How could she explain years of all this? Would he understand?

"You left me to die here-" he began. Rage was breaking through again.

"No! I didn't! I took off your patch and gun I didn't just leave you here! If they found you they would of thought you were-"

"What?!" He shoved her backward harshly. She stumbled over, but didn't fall. "Should I thank you for not completely killing me?! Bows could of shown up-"

"They're gone- the area is clear-"

He kept walking towards her and she found herself retreating backward. His eyes pierced through her and she could barely form her thoughts.

"I've done nothing but help you-"

"Yes and I'm thankful for that- but-" she tripped over loose rubble and almost fell back but he grabbed her by the jacket and pulled her up. He held her close and then as if realizing something, with his other hand he brushed off her bangs. Beneath them was a large scar, faint now with years but stretching along her face, from forehead to ear. He knew that scar all too well for he was there when they carved it.

"This was a mistake" she uttered with a shaky voice. She pushed him away from her hard enough causing him to take a step back and she took off quickly.

Jake quickly set off after her and suddenly Amelia picked up the pace and jumped over fencing to the building across. Jake ran faster. She opened and slammed a door and before she could find an escape Jake bashed in the same door. She made a run for the windows but he managed to grab her right arm. She pulled away desperately but at that moment her leg betrayed her and she found herself again in his hold.

"Enough of this" he shook her hard. Staring at her eyes he growled and shoved her away, hating himself at her for yelling, hating her for running, hating all this.

Amelia stumbled but just fell to the ground on her knees. She began weeping and just stared down at the ground before her. "I'm sorry-" she began. "I really am"

Jake walked back and forth exasperated. Crocodile tears he told himself, but what he had seen he couldn't get it out of his head .
