Leaf Village Pt 4: Decisions

Kakashi offered Naruto and his friends Ramen his treat, but Neji reminded Naruto of their dinner at the Hyuuga Compound, forcing Naruto to turn down the offer.

Since the borrowed Katana didn't feel right in Naruto's hand, he gave it back to Tenten, thanking her for letting him use it. In return, Tenten let Naruto keep the kunais and shurikans she gave him.

Now Naruto, Percy, and Grover stood in front of the entrance into the compound in their best clothes. Annabeth, Clarisse, and Thalia left for the compound earlier to get ready themselves.

The Hyuuga Compound was more like a mini-village within the leaf village, surrounded by walls and one entrance and exit. Inside were low buildings with an outside hallway that lead out to the gardens. However, the living area was split off into two areas—one lives by the Main House members and the other where the Branch members. Of course, whenever a child born into one house lost their parents must move in with the closest relatives—even if that family member lives in the other housing area until they are old enough to live in their own living space (as is the case of Neji, who is from the branch family, but after his dad died when he was five, Neji who was allowed to move in with his uncle and cousins who were in the main house).

There were also other arrange living arrangements set for hyuuga kids, that Naruto never quite understood. Like how Neji's and Hinata's fathers were born twins and yet Hinata's father who was born first end up in the main family and Neji's father who was born second was placed in the branch family. Naruto never quite understand much how that worked out since both Hinata and her sister Hanabi were raised as main house members.

"Well we better head in," Naruto said.

"Right," Grover agreed as they headed into the front entrance.

"So Naruto, do you know where we're supposed to meet for dinner?" Percy asked.

"Uh—" Naruto stopped, realizing he didn't.

"Naruto!" Neji walked up to them. "My uncle send me to find you three."

"Thank gods," Naruto muttered.

"What?"

"Nothing," Naruto responded. "So lead us to the eating area. I'm hungry and I'm looking forward to dinner."

Neji stared at Naruto but shrugged it off and led them to where they were going to eat.

Clarisse, Annabeth, and Thalia was already sitting at the table with Hinata, Hinata's father Hiashi, and a girl who was Hinata's younger sister but looked more like her father than Hinata.

Clarisse and Thalia looked discomfort able, and Naruto saw why. Apparently Hiashi lend the girls kimonos, which the daughter of Ares and the Daughter of Zeus was not use to wearing. Annabeth seemed fine, but Naruto got the feeling that his aunt didn't like it any much better since she's not normally the type of person to dress in such clothes.

Naruto noticed that Percy was gaping at the girl's appearance—mostly at Annabeth's and Naruto jabbed his friend in the side to get him out of his daze.

"Ah, Naruto, nice of you to join us," Hiashi said in a friendly tone. "And you two must be Percy Jackson and Grover Underwood."

"Yes sir," Grover and Percy responded.

They sat down, as did Neji. Soon they had food served.

Tsunade was working on paperwork when she heard knocking at the door.

"Come in."

Kakashi came in.

"So how did the test go?" Tsunade asked.

"Interesting to say the least," Kakashi responded. "You wouldn't think Sakura and Naruto haven't trained together in two years."

"Is he chuunin exams ready?" Tsunade asked.

"I believe so," Kakashi said,

"Great. I manage to talk to Jiriaya about getting Fukasaku to give Naruto time off for the Chuunin exams," Tsunade said.

"There's something else," Kakashi interrupted. "During the test, Naruto was able to infuse wind chakra into the Rasengan."

Tsnade paused. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah," Kakashi said. "It's not complete but it came to be obvious that he has gone farther in the process than both Master Jiriaya and Minato-sensei ever could have reached."

Tsunade leaned back on her chair. "Alright. Thanks for the information."

Dinner went rather well. Hiashi asked of the quest his daughter took part in, wanting to hear it from those that were there. Naruto practically bragged how Hinata shot many shark-men to dust with one hit, and got a perfect bullseye on Polyphemus' eye while riding on Tyson's shoulders surrounded by man-eating sheep. They also brought up how Hinata was the first hero ever to destroy a Hydra with a paperbomb attached Arrow (although Hinata explained it was Naruto's idea it still impressed Hiashi, Neji, her sister Hanabi).

By the end of the meal Naruto Percy and Grover thanked Hiashi before heading ot of the compound to Naruto's apartment.

They were waken the next morning by a knock at Naruto's door.

"I'm coming," Naruto groaned. He opened the door to see Shizune at the door.

"Shizune, what are you doing here?" Naruto asked. "Is something wrong?"

"No, Naruto. I'm here to take you to Tsunade's office," Shizune said. "She has an offer for you."

At that moment Percy and Grover walked up to the door.

"Your friends can come with you," Shizune said before leaving.

Naruto got ready rather quickly. Percy and Grover decided to stay behind, deciding to wait for the girls who were coming over.

Naruto headed to Tsunade's office.

When he opened the door to her office, h noticed that Jiriaya, Kakashi, and Sakura were there.

"Uh, what's going on?" Naruto asked. "What's Pervy Sage doing here?"

"Nice to see you too, kid," Jiriaya grumbled, still not too happy to hear Naruto's nickname for him.

"Naruto, we summoned you here because we got news that will impact both you, Sakura and Kakashi involving Sasuke," Tsunade responded.

That caught Naruto's attention. With everything going on, he almost forgot about Sasuke.

"He's dead, isn't he?" Sakura asked the question on their mind. "Orochimaru took over Sasuke's body for a vessel."

"No, actually on contrary," Tsunade said. "It seems Sasuke has killed Orochimaru."

"What?" Naruto and Sakura asked.

"From what I gathered, Sasuke still had months before Orochimaru's need to transfer. But for some reason Sasuke decided to end Orochimaru then and there," Jiriaya said.

"Then where's Sasuke?" Naruto asked. "Any idea where he went?"

"No, unfortunately. Sasuke seemed to have disappeared from this world," Tsunade responded.

"Not only that, but I got word that the Akatsuki has seized their activities in trying to get the Tailed beast and have also vanished," Jiriaya said. "It's as if some unknown source decided to persuade Sasuke and the Akatsuki to change their plans and disappear before we could catch up."

Naruto froze when he heard this. Only one person came to his mind who might have found a way to contact Sasuke and the Akatsuki.

Could Kronos gain enough strength to contact Sasuke and/or the Akatsuki from the Elemental Nations? Naruto thought before shaking his head mentally. No, even if Kronos manage to persuade the Akatsuki to join his cause, he wouldn't be able to persuade Sasuke to join his cause with Sasuke.

Tsunade noticed Naruto was acting strangely. "You have an idea who might be behind this?"

"I have one—Kronos," Naruto said. "He been gathering power and strength since his children chopped him up into pieces—especially since an uncle of mine has joined his cause. But I don't see how Kronos would be able to get both Sasuke and the Akatsuki to work together without having to let Sasuke kill Itachi first."

"So there might be another person behind this," Kakashi said.

"It's possible," Tsunade said.

"Naruto, there's something else," Jiriaya said. "I'm here to offer you to take you to Toad village where the toad summonings live to learn how to enter Sage Mode."

"Sage mode?" Naruto asked.

"Basically it's a power brought on by absorbing chakra from nature itself," Jiriaya said. "It can strengthen your body and power."

Naruto was shock. "Are you serious? I just got back and you want to take me away."

"It's only temporary," Jiriaya said. "And you can return to the Leaf Village to take the Chuunin Exams if you choose, and return to the Land of the Gods for the summer. But if you haven't learned sage mode before next summer, you'll have to return after your summer session to continue it."

Naruto was shocked. Jiriaya was offering his away to be stronger. It was too good to be true. But at the same time, Naruto got this feeling that if he did master Sage Mode, it might help when Kronos rise, and maybe even help Grover find Lord Pan. Maybe it can also give Naruto time to learn his father's famous jutsu.

"Can I talk to my friends about it?" Naruto asked.

Tsunade smiled. "Sure, Naruto. You don't have to give us your answer until tomorrow."

The moment Naruto returned to his apartment and found Annabeth, Thalia, and Clarisse with Percy and Grover and told them the news.

"Oh, wow," said Percy.

"Are you going to take the offer?" Annabeth asked.

"I don't know. It's tempting," Naruto said. "If I master it, it could come in handy incase Kronos does rise."

"But you don't know if you want to go on with it?" Thalia asked.

Naruto shrugged. "I never been the type who goes for power right off the bat. Heck, I felt how powerful the Fleece was but I didn't think about keeping it for myself."

"Well, I say you should go with it," Clarisse said, which shock everyone. "Better for you to learn how to use nature chakra than one of Kronos' men."

"There's something else," Naruto said. 'I can master sage mode, it means I can draw power from Nature itself, which could allow me to link myself to Pan's power."

Grover rose when he heard this, "You mean sage mode could be the key to finding Pan."

"If I can," Naruto reminded him. "There's also the issue of Zeus. Nothing against your dad, Thalia, but he never been too keen about me being in the other world since I have the Nine-Tail Fox sealed in me."

"Well, Zeus will have to get over it," Thalia said.

"Whatever the choice you made, I'm behind you on it," said Percy as everyone nodded. "Just be sure to come back to our world."

"If I do this, I'll be sure I do," Naruto responded.

That night, Naruto didn't get any ounce of sleep, trying to make his mind up.

After an hour of Percy and Grover being a sleep, Naruto took out his locket-compass. He opened the first slot—revealing the compass part of it. Naruto wasn't surprise to see that the needle was spinning out of control, as if struggling to find where it was supposed to point at. The compass was enchanted to find Polyphemus' island, but since he was in the Elemental Nations, the compass couldn't find Polyphemus' island as Polyphemus' island isn't found in the Elemental Nations.

Naruto concentrated on the hidden lock pens in the compass, unlocking it from inside, as the secret compartment popped open. Inside the secret compartment were two pictures of his parents.

Would you approve me doing this? Naruto thought.

Then he remembers 'The Gutsy Ninja' a book that his grandparents gave him, saying that it was their favorite book. They had expected Naruto to be like the character in the book. It was one of the reasons he was named Naruto. Knowing what the character in the book would do, Naruto closed his compass and went to bed.

The next day, Naruto, Percy. Grover, Annabeth, Thalia, Clarisse, and Hinata (since she was a camper at Camp Half-Blood, Naruto felt she should know his decision) was at Tsunade's office with Tsunade, Jiriaya, Kakashi, and Sakura. There was also a small but elder toad that stood up on his hind legs, wearing a cloak and had grey hair and mustache.

Jiriaya introduced Naruto to the toad known as Fukasaku, who was like a higher up leader than even Gamabunta.

"Well, boy?" Fukasaku asked. "What's your decision."

At this point, Naruto had gotten so use to talking toads that this one didn't surprise him.

"I decided to take up on your offer, as long as I can attend the Chuunin Exams a month from now, and can return to Camp Half-Blood," Naruto said.

"Very well," Fukasaku said.

"I also talked to Percy and Grover, and they will move into the Hyuuga compound until the week is up and they go home," Naruto told Tsunade.

"Very well," Tsunade responded.

"I suggest you say your goodbyes, Naruto," Jiriaya said. "It be a year at least until you see thm again."

Naruto nodded.

Annabeth was the first to say goodbye with a hug. "You be careful, Naruto."

"I will aunty," Naruto said in a joking tone. "You just make sure everyone survives until I come back."

Next was Percy. "Try not to destroy any schools while I'm gone," Naruto told Percy. "I don't think your mom can keep you in New York if she runs out of schools to put you in."

Percy chuckled. "You don't have to tell me twice."

"Grover, good luck on finding Pan," Naruto told Grover.

Grover blahhed sadly. "I sure will."

"Thalia, I help you get your second chance in life, so I expect you to make good use out of it," Naruto said. "Because if I find out Kronos turned you into the demigod that will destroy Olympus, I will hunt you down and deal with you myself."

Thalia chuckled. "I'll keep that in mind."

"Clarisse, don't let your dad get to you," Naruto said. "You're stronger than he thinks you are."

"Whatever, Legacy boy," Clarisse muttered.

"And Hinata and Sakura, I'll be seeing you two again when I take my Chuunin Exams," Naruto told them.

"Well, if that's all, we better be going," Fukasaku said.

Fukasaku made the handsigns.

"See you guys next summer," Naruto said before Fukasaku slammed his web hand on the ground.

Seals appeared around them and there was three puff of smokes that covered Fukasaku, Naruto, and Jiriaya. When it cleared, they were gone as Naruto was on his own new journey.

A/N: I will use the next story to fill in the remaining six days of this month, but as of September 1st, I will be working on the winning story votes. Except on memorial day weekend as I won't be able to work on the story.
