Thank you guys for sticking around for this story. I decided to wrap it up since I could go on and on with mini stories around these characters. However, I do want to get more original characters and stories out there with the hope of turning this hobby into a wonderful universe where others can enjoy. Maybe if I'm good enough, I can make writing my day job one day.
Sidenote: I am participating in the NaNoWriMo challenge with an original story. For those authors who may not have heard, this challenge is to write 50,000 word novel in 30 days. I would encourage you to check it out. Search for NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month to check it over.
Thank you for the reviews: KEZZ 1, Savage Kill, angel897, TimeLadySpitfire, and C. S. Stars.
I enjoyed reading all the reviews. So thank you for taking a moment to write your thoughts.
Welcome new follows/favs: LunarisMalfoy.
Epilogue:
Sarah leaned against the stone monument, smiling at the approaching group of Cybertronians.
Ratchet already stood pensively in front of the massive stone sculpture, frowning deeply.
Shockwave arrived first, gently placing a servo on Ratchet's shoulder, the very same servo that replaced his gun.
"How did you figure I'd be here?" Ratchet asked with a rough voice.
"You are coming up on the end of your grief cycle. You always visited the memorial of the one you grieve for at this point."
Ratchet harrumphed, "I'm predictable after all this time is what you are saying."
Optimus joined them, looking up at the sculpture containing a group of eight humans standing before a collection of Cybertronians, "We all miss them deeply, Ratchet. It is fitting to remember them on this anniversary. We all will honor them with you, old friend."
Mark spoke softly, "Bitbot is as tall as Bumblebee. Almost fully grown."
Sarah shifted her gaze to the mech born from Mark and Bumblebee's energy share, seeing the sparkling still in his adult features, "I still can't believe you and Bumblebee decided to call him Bitbot."
"It's cause he is. He'll always be my son," Mark bumped shoulders with Sarah, "Look how your first two are."
Chinook walked up with his wings held high and too much like Starscream in his manners. Sarah should have shooed Starscream away a little bit more than she did, though Chinook wasn't half as bad as Starscream. He had more Ratchet temper and impatience than the seeker's.
Rustwind walked up alone, but that was because he was pranking Ratchet into discovering his lover. Sarah enjoyed that piece of her had been adopted by her hatchling. His quiet but solid presence helped Ratchet.
Frank nodded to another approaching group, this time of humans, "Looks like there are more family this time. Good."
Sarah teased, "I see more from your side this time. If this keeps up, your side will eclipse all the others."
Ratchet finally replied to Optimus, his voice raspier, "I don't want her to fade."
"She will never fade from our memories, Ratchet. Neither will the others who helped us become one again," Optimus laid a hand on Ratchet's other shoulder, "She would not want you to keep returning to sorrow over her death."
Ratchet gave a bitter laugh, "She had to pull one last prank on me and I can't return the favor."
John and Annie joined them as the human group mingled with the Cybertronians.
Annie purred, "Bet they colonize the next star system over in the next decade."
John wrapped his arms around Annie, "I learned a long time ago never to bet against you."
"Wish I'd learned that sooner," Epps high-fived Mark, "Did you see the little Predacon and Dinobot sparklings? I wish I could scratch them."
Mark countered, "And hug them, and squeeze them and call them George?"
Epps laughed, pulling Mark into a shoulder hug, "Not that bad."
Lennox joined them, reviewing the growing crowd, "So glad they can do this without pressurized suits. Better for the socializing when you don't have to worried about a breach."
Sam chuckled, "It helps Megatron is destroyed for good and Arachnid is in permanent stasis. They can rebuild. Have you visited Cybertron recently? Almost halfway rebuilt."
Sarah added, "Sentinel and Quintessa really tried to mess up all this good work we did. Glad they both got their afts handed to them. Ratchet has enough to deal with since the metroformers are having sparklings. He's having to work off really old records to care for them."
Ratchet shuddered, then whispered, "I just wish I could hear her tell me off, one more time."
Turning her head, Sarah looked up at the deities gathered behind her, "Everything going well?"
Solus knelt, smiling openly, "More than we could hope for. The extension of the atmosphere to enclose the entire surface of Mars includes the tip of Olympus now. Venus is next."
Wolf howled in joy, "Brother Mars is happy."
"Good," Sarah looked back at Ratchet, saw him crumble a little, "I wish I could help him."
Solus placed a finger on Sarah's shoulder, "It's your sparked children who need you more. Go help them."
Sarah looked to the sparklings Shockwave, Ratchet and her had sparked after a protracted negotiation and trail-and-error period.
Her sparklings stood next to Prowl and Springer, looking devastated yet again.
Sarah had only a couple years with them after their separation, so they were burdened with deep pains.
Walking gently around the mechs, femmes, men and women, Sarah paused beside Dreamer and Drummer.
Sarah hummed gently.
Both turned and looked at her.
Then they glommed onto her, silently crying.
Hugging them back, she crooned, "I'm sorry, Dreamer, Drummer. I wanted to hold out but I couldn't. It's my fault for waiting so long to agree. Please forgive Ratchet and Shockwave."
"Sarah?"
She looked back to Ratchet, watching all the Cybertronians turn and look at her. Not through her like normal.
Even the humans were looking at her, their puzzled looks switching between Ratchet and her.
"Coyote," Solus scolded.
"I didn't do us. Only them," Coyote grinned.
Amalgamous echoed the smirk before shoving Mark forward.
"Hey!" Mark cried, half turning to point an accusing finger, "No pushing."
"Father?" Bitbot asked softly, frozen in place.
Sarah covered her face, "Please don't start another prank war, Mark."
Mark groused, "They started it. Ooomph."
Sarah looked over and smiled at Bitbot hugging Mark tightly.
Ratchet then filled Sarah's view, his stricken optics sending pangs through her heart.
"Ratchet," she reached out, then rapped him on the nose, "You slagger. Four centuries is long enough. You have better things to do than waste it on me when I'm in the Home of the Great Spirits."
He pulled her, Dreamer and Drummer into his embrace, laying his helm on her head lightly, "Hard to when you are still a part of my spark."
"I know," she wrapped an arm as far around his helm as she could reach, "But you have to be patient to see me again. You have a long while before you are allowed to join me."
She looked over at Shockwave, "Same with you. You better stay alive for your spark mate."
Shockwave nodded, "Until we are one."
Sarah smiled, then saw Ratchet needed a kick to stop moping around.
Sliding a look at Barricade, she asked with a mischievous smile, "So, Barricade, Rustwind, when are you both going to talk to Ratchet?"
Ratchet pulled back, looked baffled.
Rustwind's wings arched up in equal parts affront and alarm, his normal measured voice slipping back to a child's whine, "Mom!"
Barricade swore right before a wrench clanged off his helm.
Ratchet stormed towards the former Decepticon, "You better have a clean bill of health, Barricade, or so help me I'm reformatting you into a coil of cables!"
Shockwave shook his helm before refocusing his optic on Sarah, "Logically, that is what Ratchet needed to complete the cycle."
Sarah rolled her eyes, "I hoped commissioning the monument from Sunstreaker was going to end it, but he had to go and add another three hundred years to it. Sometimes he needs a push just like you."
She got the impression of a smile before Chinook joined them, "Um, about my last lover."
"I know. They didn't trust you enough to not jolt from Ironhide and Chromia's simulated attack. You'll find your spark mate eventually. Just keep trying. I will have to admit, Starscream is most certainly a better teacher for you than I ever was."
Starscream called back, "Of course I am."
Sarah grinned at the seeker, "I however still can best you in one thing."
He cockily pointed out, "I am the air commander of all the remaining seekers and undisputed."
She hummed with a little smirk.
All the hatchlings grouped up on her, humming in a pile. This helped Dreamer and Drummer, their bodies relaxing as the soothing vibrations smoothed out their rough edges.
"Yes, yes. You are better at humming," Starscream lifted his helm, "Don't count on that always being the case."
"You are going to grow up to be big," Epps voice cut through the whispers from the humans.
Everyone turned to see Epps scratching the baby Dinobots and Predacons, turning them to joyous happy piles around him, "I bet none of those hold outs will want to mess with you."
Optimus sighed, "I take it you know where the last Decepticons are hiding out?"
"Maybe," Lennox stepped out with Sam, "However, Sam and me have a more pressing question for you."
Optimus knelt, "Oh?"
"Sam says you were a dock worker back before being Prime. I heard you were an archivist. Which is it?" Lennox asked.
"Both. I started on the docks," Optimus looked over at Perceptor, "Perceptor spotted me reading data pads on one of my breaks, learning about our history. He helped me change over to an entry level archivist position. It is why I can understand Perceptor when he uses more archaic meanings and know his true intentions for any conversation. That is when our love sparked."
Frank clapped both Lennox and Sam on the back, "You both owe Mrs. Witwicky a week of gossip time."
Sam slumped, "At least it wasn't a year."
Those who knew the formidable Mrs. Witwicky laughed.
A young human girl walked over to Sarah, "You are the great and mighty Sarah Twintower?"
Sarah patted Drummer and Dreamer before pulling herself free to stand with the girl, "I am simply Sarah Twintower."
"Can you tell my teacher what a dunderhead he is? He insists you would want both great and mighty in front of your name," her cross look came with laughter from everyone around, "Plus he doesn't believe River Twintower is my direct ancestor, not you."
Sarah leaned down, "Try the archive," she peeked up at Optimus, "I'm sure someone around here has the skills to pull up some old files from NEST and the long list of birth certificates. Especially if they are the ones who added them to the archive in the first place."
Optimus snorted in amusement, smiling gently, "My hobby has not gone unnoticed."
Sarah straightened, "Not at all."
After a long time, the crowds began to disperse, leaving Sarah, her tribe, Sam, Lennox and Epps standing alone.
As the Cybertronians disappeared into the distance, some carrying their humans friends with them, Sarah smiled.
"He'll be better now," Sarah looked up at their likenesses on the monument, "I hope this place will be a happier one for Ratchet."
Frank hugged her shoulder, "If not, I'm sure we'll come kick his aft out of the rut."
"Count me in," Epps walked towards the waiting deities.
"You just want to play with the sparklings of the Predacons and Dinobots," Lennox accused.
"That, too," Epps grinned, "Last one back has to prank the tricksters."
Rolling her eyes, Sarah turned away from the living to return to the Home of the Great Spirits, feeling lighter than she had since she let out her last breath at ninety three years of age.
