As the last participants of the Red Dress Run dragged their feet through the street under the compound, Klaus was finally able to tune in on the apartment across the street. He could hear Hope sleeping, her loud breaths and meaningless mumbles reminding him of her mother's sleeping habits, which he recognized as he used to sit by Hayley's door and listen to her sleep towards the end of her pregnancy, so worried was he that something would happen to them.
He left his canvas to stretch his legs and breathe some fresh air at the window. He leaned on the open window, listening in on his sleeping daughter and her showering mother. The apartment had more furniture than it'd held when Hayley and her pet husband had moved in. Still, Hope's crib was in his line of sight, as well as part of Hayley's bed - Klaus rather liked to forget that Jackson lived in that apartment, a wish that was helped by the fact that Jackson seemed to never be at the apartment these days.
The water suddenly stopped running, and Klaus could not help himself and pushed his abilities further, until he could hear the sound of a plastic curtain moving, then a towel scrubbing over wet hair. When he heard the doorknob he swiftly moved to turn off the switch so he wouldn't be seen from the other apartment and returned to his previous spot without a sound. He was hidden by the shadows, while the other building was still lit by the last rays of sunlight.
Hayley left the bathroom, clothed only in a bathrobe barely tied around her waist. She walked over to Hope's crib and leaned slightly to stare at their daughter's face. Unaware of anything but the mouthwatering view of Hayley's legs, Klaus found himself walking closer to the window, admiring the barely covered curve of her thighs. Memories of those thighs around his neck flooded his brain, mixed with fantasies of his hands bruising her thighs, holding her up against the wall as he would - but Hayley's sigh brought him out of his daydreams. It was a sorrowful sound, made as Hayley brushed her hand against Hope's cheek and the sharp pain it caused Klaus was not one he was used to, although he knew it was regrets for his rash actions.
He watched still as Hayley pushed herself away from Hope and moved to the bedside where she kept her clothes. She pulled clothes out of her drawer among which a shirt that definitely belonged to Jackson. Seeing Hayley dressed in another man's clothes brought forth a wave of jealousy that called for Klaus to get in that apartment and destroy everything that reminded him of that mutt living with his family. Klaus' grip on the window broke a glass panel and before Hayley could catch him staring, he vanished out of the compound.
