"Carter."
Weakly, Sam flapped her left arm up and down, aiming poorly until, finally, it hit something fleshy.
"Ooff!"
Snort.
Grunt.
"Sorry," he said, his sleepy voice muffled in the pillow.
Rustle.
Daniel rolled over, sighed, and went back to sleep.
For a few more minutes, there was blissful silence in the tent. Daniel's breathing was strong, but no longer deafening. Slowly, Sam's lovely state of sleepiness began to overcome her again and she started to drift pleasantly towards unconsciousness when...
She shot upright. "Daniel!"
Oblivious to the really imprudent placing of his hand, Daniel smiled in his sleep, hand now innocently lying where Sam had been previously.
She heard a distinctly masculine chuckle, and shot the Colonel the death glare of death glares. "Oh shut up." She gestured with her head. "Move over."
"Carter..."
"Move!"
Only at night would he let her order him around like this. It was their little secret.
Grumbling, Colonel O'Neill shuffled further over into where Teal'c would have slept, had he been inclined to actually sleep inside the tent with them. For some reason, though, they never took advantage of the full amount of space, always slept in a line of three close together. Warmth, was the reason sometimes. Sometimes it was just... well, all of them were single, after all. Sometimes it was just nice to sleep next to someone.
She lay down next to her CO, out of Daniel's reach. She knew when Daniel returned from the shift after Teal'c's, he would move his sleeping bag over to her and when she went to take third shift, she'd take the Colonel's place, out of the way of Daniel's wandering hands.
Sam and Colonel O'Neill wiggled around until they were comfortable again, then both sighed at the same time.
"I'm getting too old for this," he whispered to the back of her hair.
She smiled. "I'm sleeping on a tree branch again."
"We're not sleeping under a tree."
"I know!"
He chuckled, then the chuckle turned into a groan. "Carter, I order you to kill him."
Sam raised her head. "Daniel, would you *shut up*?"
Daniel grunted and opened his eyes. "I can't help it. I've always snored. Why is this bothering you now?"
"We've been storing it up."
Blinking, Daniel assessed the gap between him and Sam. He looked at her bashfully. "What did I do now?"
Sam didn't quite know how to word it.
"You groped her, Daniel."
He winced apologetically. "Sorry, Sam."
"It's okay, Daniel. I'm used to it."
"I don't do it *that* often."
The Colonel laughed. "Oh no. Only every single time she sleeps next to you."
"Well maybe you should sleep between us!" he cried defensively.
"He doesn't want you groping him," Sam giggled.
"Carter!"
She turned to look at him. "What? It's true!"
"I didn't want you to share it with him, though."
"Damaging your reputation, sir?"
"You betcha."
"Snookums?"
"Oh, for God's sake," Daniel muttered, rolling so his back was to them. "You two can carry on flirting without me."
"Aw, Daniel," the Colonel said sweetly, "feeling left out?"
"Yeah, Colonel. You really oughta flirt with Daniel too."
"Why you...."
"DanielJackson?"
"Crap!"
"Is there a problem......."
"No, no, Teal'c." Daniel shoved the sleeping bag down his body to his feet. "Just Jack and Sam up to their usual night time activities."
"Hey!" Sam and the Colonel chorused.
They watched mournfully as Daniel left the tent.
"We lost our toy, Carter."
"I know. Now what are we going to do?"
If that wasn't a loaded question...
They looked at each other slyly.
