"His name is Rothbart… For his father…"

A young blonde woman lay bloodied and dying on the forest road. The night only lit by moonlight did nothing to stop the blood from spilling out. The only person out at this time being a small middle aged woman who wore a cloak and a hood that covered just her hair. The younger woman forced a smile despite her pain, happy to have found someone at last. The elder female gazed at the dying blonde as she was amazed how much blood there was covering her young body. It was clear the dying woman had been attacked by something. The elder knew there had been thieves in the forest these past few days, but this was severe for some simple bandits.

"Please… Keep him safe…", the strained voice of one dying managed to speak.

She was trying to hold up the bundle she carried in her arms, offering it to the older female.

"I…. I will…", the elder said quietly with a nod as she took notice of the small bundle and slowly took it.

"Promise… Me…", the blonde requested.

"I… I promise…", the elder spoke, though without fully understanding what she was agreeing to.

"…Thank…. You….", the younger whispered as she last breath.

The elder woman was now left alone in the forest, staring for a moment at the young woman she had just watched breath her last. She was stunned as she had never before witnessed someone dying right in front of her.

"AH!", the elder shrieked as something moved within the bundle.

She quickly uncovered it, moving parts of the small tan blanket aside. She was shocked to find a baby in it, even if the dead woman had said his name and asked her to take care of him.

The baby had bright red hair and was so tiny that he must have been just born no more than a month ago. The woman frowned sadly at that. This baby was all alone in the world already. Pity took over her heart as she carefully took better hold of the tiny child and looked all around. With no one nearby, she hurried away before she could be found. She had promised to take care of this child and take care of him she would.

"Don't worry tiny baby…", the woman said as she lowered her hood and revealed her light brunette hair. "Bridget will take care of you."

The baby heard those words and fell right to sleep as Bridget took them both deeper in to the forest.
