ONSWeek Day 1

"You've lost yourself again, Yuu."

Yuuichirou blinked as the ever familiar scenery appeared before him. When he turned around, he saw the figure of Asuramaru standing on the sword which she possessed. She smirked at him, her fangs protruding out from beneath her lips. Yuuichirou narrowed his eyes, fists clenching at his sides. "What's going on, Asuramaru?"

She shrugged, looking away with a bored look in her eye. "Decide for yourself. Are you dreaming, or have you gone senile again?"

The boy looked away, biting his lip. He could remember Mikaela's face, and Guren's battered body from the damage done by the vampires. He could remember the warm embrace of Shinoa's arms, just before the world turned black around him. So, yes, he was asleep, but that didn't mean that he hadn't allowed Asuramaru take control of him before. He met the demon's eyes again. "So I'm guessing I overworked myself?"

"Glad you can tell, Yuu. You've really got to get yourself together."

"Don't you go telling me that, demon," Yuuichirou snapped. He cradled his head in his hand. "What was I doing?"

"Making sure your best friend didn't get hurt."

Yuuichirou's head shot up. "Mika..?"

"From what I saw, he was very close to being killed by your comrades." The demon hopped off the sword, running over to the boy's side. "You begged me for help because you didn't want to see him die. Which confused me; isn't that kid a vampire? I thought you hated them."

"I can never hate Mika."

Asuramaru laughed. "Of course. He'd your family, isn't he? You vowed to find him and keep him alive."

Yuuichirou didn't respond.

"That was why you made a contract with me. Not for petty revenge, but to protect the one you love." she laughed. "You're such an easy person to read, Yuu. Go ahead and wake up now, okay?"

Before Yuuichirou could get another word in, his eyes shot open and he let out a loud gasp, sitting up with a hand against his chest. "Yuu-chan…?" a distant voice called, and his green eyes followed it.

"Mika…" he let out a watery smile. He'd saved Mikaela. "You're okay…"

"Of course!" Mikaela shouted. "You're the one over your head, letting that demon take over!"

But in the end, Yuuichiou had Asuramaru to thank.
