Jasper and Peridot sat inside the living room of their small apartment; Jasper was reading a sports magazine, Peridot was "reading" the black screen on her laptop; which was really just a cover up, since Jasper was pregnant it'd fascinated Peridot to no end. Her once sporty girlfriend was now constantly hungry, her usual cravings being sweets, salty things and unfortunately, an over worked Peridot.
Peridot had developed a habit of staring at Jasper's stomach; her once toned abdomen now round and pudgy.
"What?" Jasper asked.
"What", what?" Peridot looked up from her computer.
"You keep staring at my stomach," Jasper closed the magazine she was reading, throwing it onto the coffee table in front of her.
"No I don't" Peridot stated, she looked down at her screen pretending to type.
"Oh really? So what'cha lookin' at?" Jasper scooted closer to Peridot.
"It's something for work; top secret." Peridot lied.
"Oh, I thought you'd be looking at nothing since I used your laptop today and didn't charge it." Peridot looked up at Jasper, she could see right through her, every lie she told she caught; every stare she gaze she saw. It'd been 3 months since Jasper went through haploidization. It was a rare and only experimental fertility treatment where two embryos were combined to create a child rather than sperm and an egg. The child's DNA is made up of the two mothers and only the two.
"Okay I looked a little." Peridot blushed.
"Tell you what," Jasper walked over to the love seat Peridot was sitting on and sat down beside her. "If you get me those chocolate pie things with the crème in the center I'll let you touch my stomach." Jasper patted the maroon colored tank top covering her stomach.
Peridot was reluctant but she had been eager to at least attempt to bond with the child. Peridot walked to the kitchen, a locked chest containing all the sweets in the house was on the top shelf in the pantry. Peridot had to lock the sweets away because Jasper would eat them all, get sick, and whine like a child on how it was Peridot's fault and how she shouldn't have trusted her.
Peridot walked back to Jasper with a chocolate crème pie in hand, Jasper was eager to try and snatch it away but Peridot held it above her head.
"You eat while I rub." Peridot said.
"Ha! That's how we got in this mess." Jasper laughed, she patted a spot on the couch. Peridot sat down between Jasper's legs, handing Jasper the treat she instantly started eating, pleasurable moans escaping her lips. Peridot was nervous, but she lifted Jasper's tank top and rubbed her stomach, it was firm but airy. The baby wasn't moving but it was surely there, Peridot was entranced with the bulge.
Who will this baby be? Who will it look like Jasper or Peridot? Will it be beefy like Jasper or tech savvy like Peridot? She didn't know, and she didn't care. This baby was a mixture of the two of them; it was a lot of things and could become several more things. But right now, it was just their love in a physical form.
Before she knew it she was kissing Jasper's belly; it felt right. A little foot kicked her face.
"Ow!" Peridot held her nose.
"Yeah the brat likes to do that. Remember the other night when you thought I kicked you? That was this abusive little monster." Jasper pointed to her stomach.
Peridot watched Jasper's stomach as the baby thrashed around, Jasper started to hiccup and tried to shift on her side to get comfortable.
"Maybe the baby doesn't like chocolate." Peridot stated, she laid Jasper's feet in her lap and started to massage them.
"Well I don't like having cankles and throwing up so we both gotta deal!"
