Pros:

therapy helped last time

She knows this whole thing is stressing her friends out

Didn't she want to get better?

Cons:

Loss of control

She didn't want to do this.

Monica sits internally debating. Joey had long since left, convinced she was safe. And she was, at least for now. Her mind was preoccupied with this whole therapy situation.

She knows she better get a move on, the office shut soon. Well, in an hour or so but at this rate she'd still be debating it then.

Better get a move on.

She thinks, did she really need this? She was older now, stronger, she could get through this by herself. It wasn't like an addiction or anything, she could stop if she wanted to.

(She didn't want to stop though, did she?)

Her head falls into her hands and she sighs. Why was this so difficult? Any normal functioning adult would just make the damn phone call yet she'd been sitting here for what felt like hours.

Maybe, she reasons, maybe she could go to one, maybe two sessions. And then if she didn't like it she could quit. Yes, that could work out.

But then what about Chandler? And the others? She'd feel bad lying to them but she knows if it came to that they'd beg her to give it another chance, and another, and….

Better to lie right off the hook and just wander round town when it's time.

She'd already checked her insurance, she'd even phoned them twice in hopes they wouldn't cover therapy. They did. Great, she didn't even have an excuse.

She was going to have to do this.

She stands up, phone in hand, number in the other.

She inputs the numbers carefully, checking and double checking.

A click.

A ringtone.

Silence.

"Hello?"
