Chapter 10: Turning
It was hard for Stephanie to think about anything after just sending Audrina to rehab. She waited outside the door for her car to pick her up. She looked at everyone who was still inside talking to Danielle. She didn't want to speak to anyone, she had a lot on her mind. She began to think about her pregnancy and her rocky marriage with Hunter and also her heated interaction she had with Randy on Monday Night Raw. She was unsure if having a baby would be the right thing to do. She never thought about terminating a pregnancy ever, but she began to think that was her only option. She couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of guilt. She needed someone to talk to but she wasn't sure who to turn to. She felt like everyone is turning against her.
She took another look at her family, mainly at Vince. She couldn't believe he has been lying to her about Audrina for years. She has always known him to despicable things, but this was the lowest of the low. She wasn't sure what to think of Vince now. She always looked to him for guidance and she always thought of him as a mentor when it came to their business and she always thought of him as a great father. Now she only sees him as a liar and someone she could never trust. She wanted to forgive him and apologize for attacking him on Smackdown, but she just couldn't bring herself to it, not yet. This was worse than when he cheated on her mother with Trish.
"Hey, Steph!" She heard Shane call as he was walking to her. Stephanie didn't say anything to him. She wasn't too fond of Shane coming back to the WWE and taking things over. Regardless of her feelings for Hunter, she didn't like the fact that Shane made him part of the roster and relieving him of his duties as C.O.O of the company, but she had no choice. They were either going to work together collectively or things could be worse than they already are.
"You okay?" Shane asked.
Stephanie sighed, she didn't know where to begin. There was so much on her mind and she had a lot to say, but she didn't feel that this is the right time. She also didn't feel like she was talking to the right person. As far as she is concerned, Shane is number two on the list of people who have stabbed her in the back.
"I don't know," She finally answered.
Shane took another look at Stephanie. He knew she was upset with him for making Hunter a superstar on the roster. He honestly didn't care too much for Hunter, he never liked him. He didn't like the way Hunter puts himself before others and he was a terrible businessman. It is still hard for Shane to put his personal feelings towards him aside because of his marriage to Stephanie. He was content with letting them run WWE because he wanted to focus on his law career until he saw some things that he did not approve of. Stephanie never made these shrewd decisions about the company until Hunter got involved. It was clear he couldn't do anything when it came to their marriage, but he is not going to let their selfishness ruin their company.
"Look, I'm sorry for dropping this bomb on you," He finally said to her after a few seconds of awkward silence, "Whether you like it or not, it's what's best for everyone right now."
Stephanie scoffed, "It's funny how you just all of a sudden just change things after years of being away. I mean you sent Audrina away to rehab and now you put Hunter back on the roster. You'll do anything to run the WWE all by yourself!"
Shane rolled his eyes and scoffed; he didn't like the comment she made about Audrina, it was so typical of Stephanie to think that everyone was out to get her.
"I'm not the one who exposed her past to everyone on live television, I'm not the one who sent people to hurt her and anyone she cared about. I'm not the one who got threatened by her and tried anything I possibly can to make her life miserable. You and your husband cause all of these problems and then play crybaby when someone fights back! Glad to see things haven't changed in the years I've been gone."
"Excuse me?" Stephanie raised her voice. "When William Regal and Cameron were assaulting Audrina who was the one who found Dean and told him to go help her?"
Shane scoffed, "Cut the horse shit Stephanie, you've had it out for her ever since dad told her the truth on Smackdown. It's just like you to try to take the spotlight. God forbid something does not revolve around Stephanie and the world comes to an end!"
Stephanie shook her head in anger. She was tired of everyone saying that her caring for Audrina was an act. She can admit to herself that she was wrong in the way she treated Audrina when she found out about Vince being her father, but she was sick of being reminded of that. She hoped deep down that when Audrina gets out of rehab, they can have a talk and reconcile, but as long as Shane was around, it was not going to happen. She grew tired of Shane's hero act. She was tired of him acting as though he was saving the day whenever he was around.
"Now, like we said before, we have to come together to run this company. All of us, you, me Trish, and Audrina. If you don't like that then you don't have to do anything."
Stephanie was relieved that her car had finally arrived. She said nothing to Shane as she entered her car and drove away. She didn't bother to say goodbye to anyone, she just wanted to be alone. At this point, she wasn't sure if she wanted to make it to Smackdown Live on Friday. She was sick of everyone telling her how to run the show she has been running with her husband for years.
Shane sighed as he watched Stephanie leave. He let out a sigh of frustration. It's going to take a miracle for Shane to fix his family.
He began to make his way back to the clinic where he saw Vince, Trish, and Hunter still talking to Danielle.
"You guys did an excellent job," Danielle said to them. "I know this was extremely difficult given the circumstances but all of you putting aside your differences to talk to Audrina about her issues is definitely the support she needs and that all of you need. I'm hoping that this will point you in the right direction to come together as a family."
Roman arrived at his hotel in Seattle, Washington. The city that will be hosting Friday Night Smackdown. The last show this week before Hell In A Cell takes place on Sunday. He knew there were going to be major announcements and a few surprises on Friday. He wasn't sure if he was going to have a match because he lost the championship tournament to John Cena on Monday. He wanted nothing more than become the WWE Champion, but he had to admit he wasn't focused that night. He had just heard the news of Audrina's arrest and that was all he could think about. He wasn't sure if she was okay or what was going on with her. He also felt guilty that Dean found out about her being in his hotel room when she was drunk. That was not the way he wanted Dean to find out, but leave it to Cameron to start trouble. He felt like he was in between a rock and a hard place. He wanted to help a good friend, but he ended up hurting his brother. He didn't like Audrina that way, but that was hard to explain to a hot-headed Dean.
It wasn't hard to notice that Dean still has feelings for her and that is something that will not change any time soon. Roman knows that he will go through the extreme to prove that he doesn't and Audrina will as well. Roman chucked at the thought of what would happen if Audrina comes back. It won't take long for those two crazy lovebirds get back together without a few fights in between.
He finally relaxed in his room and looked at his phone. He saw that he had a few missed calls from Cameron and one from Alicia. He rolled his eyes, he was sick of these girls bothering him. He wanted nothing to do with Cameron. He didn't like the fact that she was causing problems between him and Dean and he didn't like what she was saying about Audrina on social media. He also heard a rumor about her sleeping with Hunter. It bothered him a bit but there was no point in trying to find out. If the rumor is true, he was sure it was going to come to the light eventually. He sighed and decided to return Alicia's call just to see what she wanted.
He heard three rings then she finally answered.
"Roman! Hey!"
"What's up?" Roman greeted back.
"Wow, you sound terrible, are you okay?" Alicia asked with concern.
Roman chuckled a bit. "I could be better, but I'm fine. Just had a long flight."
"Yeah, I'm catching a late flight tonight after my photo shoot," Alicia said back.
"So what did you call me for?" Roman asked wanting to get to the point.
"I, uh, well, did you hear about Audrina?" Alicia asked Roman could hear in her voice that she was scared to ask him.
Roman sighed, "Yeah I know, she got arrested."
"No, well, yeah, but the other stuff. I think she's going to rehab for a couple of months or so. Shane released a statement on social media. Everyone is talking about it."
Roman let out a long sigh and pushed his hair back in frustration. This was the first of him hearing about Audrina going to rehab. He felt bad because he wanted to say goodbye. He began to wonder if Dean knew anything about this. He knew he was going to have to keep a close eye on Dean if he finds out, he knows for sure this is going to affect him, especially with the return of is former enemy William Regal.
"No, Alicia I had no idea," Roman finally answered. "This is a good step for her. I hope that she gets the help she needs."
"Me too," Alicia said back. "Do you think she'll come back? I mean, I would like to talk to her. I know we didn't always get along. I feel bad for everything that happened."
"I don't know if she will. I hope she does, at this point all we can do is just support her," Roman said.
"Yeah," Alicia said.
Roman was silent for a few seconds. He wasn't sure what to say to Alicia. A part of him wanted to rush her off the phone but part of him didn't. It was nice to have a pleasant conversation with someone and not having to deal with everyone else's chaos.
"So, do you want to hang out sometime?" Alicia finally asked. "No funny business, just two friends enjoying each other's company? I know this really cool restaurant nearby we can grab lunch…"
Roman sighed with annoyance, he was sick of these divas coming on to him. He just went through a breakup with Cameron, the last thing he wanted was more drama with another diva. He wanted to say no to Alicia, but she hasn't given him a reason to be rude to her.
"Yeah, that's cool. We can do that," Roman answered. "I just have something I need to take care of though. It should take long, text me the address and we'll meet up when I'm done."
"Okay," Alicia answered back. "Thanks by the way."
Roman scrunched his face in confusion, "What for?"
"For talking to me, about everything. It may not mean much to you but it's really helped me get over everything that has happened with Randy."
"Well, you don't deserve to be treated like that. Creampuff will get his karma, don't worry." Roman said back hoping that he won't hear her cry.
Alicia chucked a bit, "I'll see you later Roman."
Roman hung up the phone and continued unpacking.
