Jay's point of view
Jay walked back to the dorms pondering what could be done with these teachers. Professor Tinkerbelle and Captain Smith were definitely gonna be their enemies. While Professor Esmeralda and Ramirez seem to favor them. While the last two teachers seem they could go either way. 'I could focus on professor Cromwell, and Porter first try to get them over to our side have four out of six teachers.' Jay thought, crawling out of the vent into a janitor's closet. 'Or I could put the work in and try to turn our enemies into allies and hope they follow into the majority. Could try to iron clad the alliance between Esmeralda, Ramirez, and Godmother.'
Jay quietly peaked outside into an empty hallway, slowing his breathing before sneaking out of the closet. 'Problem is I have no idea how to crack any of them.' Jay thought, readjusting his hat.
Turning down the hallway to his dorm, Jay saw an interesting case filled with shiny objects. 'Trophies' Jay thought, stepping closer to the case. Jay could tell that most of the trophies one were for academics; chemistry, robotics, debate, etc. However, the bigger trophies centered in the middle underneath a spotlight were athletic. 'What the hell is a tourney?' Jay thought, looking over the old newspapers in the case a headline "Coach Jenkins Steps Down As Head Coach Passing Champion Team To Captain Smith." Jay looked at the date of the publication, and the last championship won, it seems Captain Smith has never won a championship. 'How interesting' Jay thought, 'If it's a sport I'll dominate.' Jay thought a smirk on his face as he went back to his room, a plan finally starting to form.
After a long night of scheming, Jay was awakened by Carlos dropping his cat on top of him. The hissing furball tangled itself in Jay's hair, and he could practically hear his eels Lagen and Derelict laughing at him from their tank in the further room. "Haha very funny." Jay stating untangling the cat that humphs off jumping onto Carlos' bed. Jay walked over the aquarium intending to feed his pets but paused for a moment. "Why do you guys look so much bigger?" Jay muttered throwing more fish into the tank, his eels ignoring him for breakfast.
"Jay come on we have to hurry?" Carlos shouts exiting the bathroom.
"For what?" Jay asked, "We don't have class till next week."
"Ben stopped by earlier said that until we have our schedule, we have to take those classes Doug was telling us." Jay's face pinched in confusion "history of misfits and pirates, safety rules for the internet, and remedial goodness101."
"Right," Jay says, slowly getting out of bed. 'I can put my plan in motion.' Jay thought, stretching the soreness out of him as he began to get ready.
The four teens found themselves alone in a giant classroom. 16 tables and just them for remedial goodness. Jay wasn't really paying attention to the class to busy trying to figure out what "The mouths are for smiling, not for biting" meant or even "Sharing is caring." Your mouth has teeth why wouldn't you use it for biting. 'Mal's right it's a new course' Jay says snorting as Fairy Godmother goes through the next question.
"If someone hands you a crying baby, do you: A) curse it? B)lock it in a tower C) give it a bottle D) carve out its heart." Fairy Godmother asks exaggerating a heart pulling pulled out.
Evie trying to be a good student raises her arm "Evie" Godmother asks, a smile still on her face.
Evie lowers her arm "What was the second one?"
"Oh, okay." Fairy Godmother says her eyebrows knitted softly her smile still in place "Anyone else." She asks, waving her teaching stick. For a moment Jay actually thinks about answering the question, but he wasn't sure which one it could be, carve out its heart was adequate, but cursing it could work too, but it was too vague in the kind of curse. "Mal?" Godmother asks distracting Mal from her doodle.
"C give it a bottle," Mal says looking up from her drawing for a moment, no hesitation.
"You are correct again," Fairy Godmother states practically beaming now.
"You are on fire, girl," Carlos says impressed.
"Just pick the one that sounds the less fun," Mal states like its obvious.
"Oh" Carlos murmurs
"That makes so much sense," Evie says, smiling.
Jay was about to make a comment when a squeal interrupted him. A girl with short black hair in a blue dress scurries past them.
"Hello, dear one," Godmother states bending over the podium to greet the girl, "everyone here remembers my daughter, Jane?"
"Mom no," Jane looked at the teenagers like a scared bunny trapped by wolves. Jay couldn't help, but grin. These Auradon preps are trying to be tough, and they have no idea what it means to be tough.
"Its okay Jane, this is everyone." Godmother greets presenting us. If anything the girl looked to stop breathing now. Jay couldn't help to give a small wave just to see the girl jump.
Her mother still looming over her Jane; she starts to speak. "Hi. That's okay, don't mine me. As you were," the girl mutters trying to bow a bit squealing as she tries to run past the occupied tables as quickly as her short legs would take her.
Jay could see that Mal was staring after the girl. Jay just shook his head a bit already seeing the purple-haired villain scheming.
"Ahem, let's continue," Godmother states evenly. "You find a vial of poison. Do you: A) put it in the king's wine B) paint it on an apple C) turn it over to the proper authorities?"
Now with Mal's tip, the answer was obvious. All of the kid's arms shot up, Jay feeling playful grabbed Carlo's wrist trying to pull the arm down. Fairy Godmother picked Jay, and he answered correctly, gaining a smile from the fairy.
It wasn't long till Carlos and Jay started to rough house, Jay could see Evie taking a mirror break and Mal giving a single shrug with a smile when Fairy Godmother looked at her.
"Boys" it was probably as close to a yell as Fairy Godmother could get. "I'm gonna encourage you to use that energy at the tourney field."
Jay froze for a moment; he had been waiting for an opportunity to get involved with tourney now was his chance. A grin broke out on Jay's face as he pinned Carlos down a little harder on the table.
Carlos looked a little concerned, "Yah no, we are gonna pass on whatever that is."
"Actually this sounds kind of fun" Jay mentions casually releasing Carlos and returning to his seat. Carlos looked at Jay for a moment a bit worried about his behavior.
"Oh, Ben perfect timing," Fairy Godmother states waving the prince into the room. All the teens looked at Ben wondering when precisely the boy entered the room, "You have tourney practice right. Could you kindly take Carlos and Jay with you?"
Ben looked puzzled, but after staring at Jay for a little too long, he nods his head a smile on his face. "Of course, but first if I could talk to you in private."
"Of course of course," Godmother states, stepping down from the podium. "You all did wonderful today. Until your schedule is fully made, these private sessions will be your only class. We are trying to make these transitions as easy as possible."
Once Ben and Fairy Godmother walked off Carlos and Mal both looked at Jay. "What was that?" Mal asked.
"What was what," Jay asks, leaning back on his chair.
"You and the prince seemed to have some heavy eye contact there," Mal says, walking over to stand in front of Jay.
"You aren't jealous, are you Mal?" Jay asks with a grin placing the chair down to stand over Mal.
"I'm not even going to respond to that" Mal says her eyes simmering green. "Your up to something" Mal's eyes were starting to turn a brighter green.
"Now what could I be planning huh," Jay says, standing up placing his fingertips on the table, leaning over just slightly "I'm just a thief."
"Oh if only that were true," Mal says, stepping on her tip tops to get in Jay's face.
"Am I missing something here," Evie asks, her makeup finally perfect.
"I think Jay and Mal are fighting," Carlos states looking back and forth and the two hot-headed teens in their group.
"We aren't fighting," Mal and Jay say simultaneously not looking away from each other.
Mal's eyes returned to normal a lazy smile on her smile. "I'm probably giving you to much credit." Mal lowered herself to her feet and flipped her hair. "My plan is going to get us that wand, so you do whatever a thief does."
Jay could tell that Mal wasn't going to let this go. Granted Mal also wasn't going to bug Jay as long as his plans don't interfere with Mal's plan. Jay would have figured that after there promise Mal would be a little less wand crazy, but she still seemed hyper-focus on the damn wand.
"Oh don't you worry your pretty princess head" Jay stated watching Mal's eye glow furious. Jay couldn't help, but laugh, especially when Mal tried to take a swing at him.
Eventually, there play fighting was interrupted with a cough. Prince Ben was staring at them awkwardly as Godmother stood next to him, shaking her head. "Yes, I think the tourney would be great for Jay."
Ben nodded still staring at Mal and Jay an odd expression on his face. "Right," Ben says before clearing his throat "Right yes, let's go shall we practice is about to start."
"Ben, please do say hi to coach Jenkin for me, he's agreed to come back as an assistant coach isn't that just exciting." Godmother claps before turning away from the group. "Have a lovely rest of your day."
"Evie Mal would you like to-"
"Watch Jay destroy people in a sports pass," Mal says dismissively. Jay was sure it was supposed to be a dig at him, but for a moment, Ben's face fell as well. Jay couldn't help but feel a little protective of Mal, especially after Ben told him that he dreams of Mal.
Keeping Mal distant from the prince until Jay could figure out exactly what the prince wanted from her.
"Its alright Ben, it's probably too rough for the girls anyway," Jay says, sliding over to the prince to place a hand on his shoulder. If this surprised Mal, she hid it very well, where Carlos and Evie acted as if Jay had just grown another head.
Ben looked at Jay's hand and smiled, "Right another time, then."
"That's the spirit," Jay says, taking his hand and grabbing Carlos out of his seat.
"Jay put me down," Carlos shouts squawking on top of the older boys shoulder "Jay."
Jay just laughed "It's a warm-up dude," Jay says, hefting Carlos up even higher. "We about to go up against some princes." Jay practically threw the smaller boy in the air. Causing Carlos to scream, Evie to laugh, and Mal to smile.
Ben just stared at the villain's kids for a moment wondering how anyone could think of them as evil. Jay caught Carlos laughing as the younger boy shrieked at him to put him down. Ben expected Jay to just drop the boy, but instead, Jay placed the boy on his feet, fixed his jacket, and ruffled up his hair. A casual "Don't worry bro I'll always catch you," coming from Jay. Ben couldn't help, but be envious of them. Whether the group realized it or not, they were lucky to have each other. Ben was suddenly brought back from his fantasy of possibly one day being part of this family with a firm shake from Jay as he screamed: "GET PUMPED."
