Sansa Stark
The day of the Royal Wedding was just days away and Sansa just wanted it to be over. As the wedding approached, Sansa was remembering her own wedding to Lord Tyrion. Even though he wasn't the man she wanted to marry, she at least to comfort in that he was always good to her and treated her with respect. And the fact that he didn't want to marry her either but was forced into it as well made her feel better. He didn't want to marry because it was his family that murdered her father and nearly killed the rest of her family.
Sansa was so deep in thought that she didn't realize right away that Shae was running and crying. Sansa chased after her and called her name. When Shae turned around and saw her, she looked very upset and angry at her.
"Shae! Please talk to me!"
"Go away! I don't want to talk to you!"
"Why not?"
"Because you took away my love!"
Shae started crying and Sansa didn't know what else to do but she held out her arms and held Shae in an embraced hug. Shae let the tears flow and didn't even resist when Sansa hugged her. Sansa led her to a bench and handed her a handkerchief.
"Please. Talk to me. We're like sisters remember?"
Shae felt better that she said that. She took the handkerchief and wiped away her tears. After that, she said to Sansa:
"Tyrion told me that he didn't love me anymore and that we couldn't be together now that he's married to you."
"Forgive me for saying but that's a load of horse dung."
"Sansa!"
"What? I may be a lady but I'm not going to hold my tongue when I think is ridiculous. I have let you sleep with my husband because I know he loves you more than anyone. And we've been married for months. Why is this a problem now?"
"Because he told me that he didn't love me anymore and that I couldn't be with him anymore. And he kept on calling me a whore!"
That got Sansa's attention. She knew how Tyrion hated using that word. Tyrion had told her about his first wife.
"I know Tyrion and he wouldn't say that word unless it wasn't serious."
"How can you be so sure?"
"He told you about his first wife, right?"
"Yes. But what difference does that make? I'm just another whore to him!"
"No, you're not! And I won't let you think like that. I know Tyrion would never want you to leave unless he thought you were in danger."
"I told him that I don't care as long as I'm with him."
"Have you ever thought that he wants you to be with him but is so afraid of losing you that he would say the one word he hates if it meant saving you?"
Shae looked at Sansa. She made a point.
"But I don't want to leave him. I told him that I am his and he is mine and that I would love him no matter what."
"And I believe that Tyrion loves you more than anyone in the world. But I know that he won't be able to stand to lose another woman he loves like he lost his first wife."
Shae saw that Sansa was very serious. Sansa looked at her and said to her:
"You're not going to leave even if he told you to, are you?"
"Not at all."
"I thought so. So, what are we going to do?"
"Maybe I can help."
Sansa and Shae turned around saw Varys staring at them.
"Where'd you come from?!"
"And how do you do that?!"
"I could tell you, but you would have to keep your voices down if you want to know."
"Sorry."
Varys took a seat next to both girls.
"Care to tell me what this is all about?"
So, Sansa and Shae told Varys everything Tyrion said. After they were done, Varys said:
"Well, Lady Sansa is right. Lord Tyrion wouldn't say something so "drastic" if it wasn't serious."
"So, what are we going to do?"
"I have a proposition. Come work for me. I will keep you safe and Lord Tyrion would never know that you never left."
"And what would you want in return?"
"I want you to keep an eye on someone for me."
"Who is it?"
"Someone I've had my eyes on for a while. I'll explain more but in private. No offense Lady Sansa but concerns someone that I fear might bring you harm and it's best you don't know who I suspect until I have more information."
"I understand."
"So, do we have a deal?"
"Yes."
"So, come with me and we'll get you settled."
Before they left Sansa asked:
"Will I ever see you again?"
Varys answered:
"Only when I think it's safe for both of you. But rest assured that you will both see each other again."
Sansa smiled and hugged Shae.
"I hope to see you soon, my big sister."
"I'll always be with you. Even if you can't see me, my little dove."
Shae left with Varys who then covered her head with a scarf. Sansa felt confident that Shae was in good hands and that they would see each other again.
