Chapter 19: Through The Jungle

"So neither of you know what Gibbs is up too... he was here one day and gone the next." McGee asked as they tried to figure out what was happening.

"All i know is that he followed those two magicals interrogated one of the men involved in taking Harry and Abby hostage and hasn't been seen since." Ziva said.

"DiNozzo, McGee, David... MTAC, now." The three heard Vance call out to them as he walked up to MTAC and entered after using the eye scanner. The three agents looked at each other and followed the Director into MTAC.

"Put her up." Director Vance said as he stood in front of the screen and the technician nodded before patching Director Smith's call through and she appeared on the screen.

"Director Smith, What happened?" Director Vance asked.

"To those that were unaware, I authorised Strike Team Alpha to attack the Headquarters of the organisation known as the Order Of The Phoenix. The Order is a group of witches and wizards in England lead by a man named Albus Dumbledore. Dumbledore sent the men who attacked NCIS and the one responsible for the kidnapping of Jessica Parker and Harry Potter. As such Special Agent Gibbs was offered to be part of the team to rescue them and return them to the states and reports indicate that all was going well before their plane went down. Possible mechanical failure but also possible that the plane was brought down and we've lost all contact." Director Smith explained to the agents explaining all that had happened.

"Director, Are efforts being made to mount a rescue?" DiNozzo asked from the background.

"Not all of Alpha team was set on the mission and I've already called in the rest of Alpha team and they are prepping as we speak. We know the location as they managed to activate the emergency transponder before the plane crashed and they're located on a island about three hours outside Washington." Director Smith explained.

"Director, i would like my agents to join your team in the rescue." Vance said.

"The more the merrier. Don't bother grabbing your gear, i'll send one of my employees to retrieve you and we'll set you up with a kit." Director Smith said.

"DiNozzo, David... bring our them home. In the meantime, McGee and I'll see what we can do to get some Satellite time and so we can see what is happening." Director Vance said making the two agents nod and leave the room.

"Director, I wasn't informed what my agent was doing in England. I'm aware that my agent's houseguest and girlfriend were kidnapped but that is all." Director Vance said wanting more information then had already been provided.

"Like i said, Agent Gibbs was offered a front row position on assisting Alpha team in retrieving the two kidnapped. We received confirmation that the team had entered Britain with no problem and began their assault on the position we believed The Order was holding the two HVIs. They easily subdued the occupants and made their way through the building and found the two HVI's with three additional P. , we lost comms but we made contact again as they were getting ready to leave the country on a loaned plane and they reported all clear along the flight until they went down and we lost contact again." Director Smith explained all the events that had transpired since Alpha Team touched down.

"Don't wizard have the ability to teleport?" McGee asked remembering hearing Harry talk about Apparating.

"We do but it seems the Island they're on has powerful Anti-Apparation Wards which is a pretty clear indicator that they're in trouble and it wasn't simple mechanical failure that caused the crash. " Director Smith explained. Someone began speaking to McGee through the headset and he began rapidly pressing keys on the keyboard.

"Director, NSA have a satellite in the vicinity of the downed plane and apparently have orders from Director Smith to lend us the satellite time." McGee said surprising Vance that Smith has that kind of pull.

"Just how high up are in you government Director?" Director Vance asked as McGee worked with the NSA Satellite Technician to get it in position.

"A few years ago i would have had the title of Madam President of The Magical World. The Magical world has an agreement with the U.S Government we can handle our own affairs but The Non-magical government can intervene if they feel it is necessary too. When the agreement was made the title went from President to Director." Director Smith explained.

"Satellites online." McGee said cutting Vance's response off and throwing the feed up on the main screen. It wasn't much, all they could see was the island but it was heavily blurred.

"Something wrong with the satellite?" Director Vance asked McGee thinking it was a problem with the Satellite's camera.

"No that would be the heavy magic use in the area, specifically the wards that were recently erected, while magic doesn't mess with technology in low amounts it's high amounts that are used in wards that cause this sort of problem." Director Smith said making Vance frown.

"So this is useless." Director Vance asked.

"No, or at least not yet. I expected this problem and i had some of our experieced Wardmasters take a portkey to one of the smaller islands outside of the wards to begin working on them." Director Smith explained.

"Couldn't these wardmasters find the missing team while there instead of flying out there and collecting them." McGee reasoned.

"No, First while the Wardmasters are accomplished at wards they aren't the best in combat and are purely for tactical support, they can hold their own but are unable to take on situations our soldiers are trained for and secondly we don't know what condition the team is in... They were on a plane that crashed and if they are severely injured they will be unable to Apparate or portkey as it would make their injuries much worse." Director Smith explained making McGee nod in understanding. Director Smith turned to an aide who approached her and passed a message along to her.

"Thank you Patrick. I've just been informed that the team are in the air and will be ready to evac our people in three hours. Until then they're on their own." Director Smith informed the two making Vance and McGee hope that Alpha team will be fine before remembering one important fact. Special Agent Gibbs was with them. Now they just felt sorry for the people that brought the plane down.

"Is this a common occurrence for you?" Remus asked John as they made their way through the thick jungle. So far they had come across four Death Eater patrols which had all been taken care of easily as they were unfamiliar with non-magical weaponry.

"Some aspects are… others not so much. Drastically outnumbered, Shot out of the sky and suicide rescue missions. That comes with fighting under Jordan's command. You get used to it." John said as he ducked under a fallen tree, rifle held up and ready.

"Huh… good to kno AHHH." Remus yelled as his leg was caught in a rope and he was hoisted up into the air. John spun around at the ready but lowered his rifle with a smile as he saw the situation that Remus was in. "Yeah yeah laugh it up why don't you… Just get me down already." Remus said with a glare making John laugh.

"Alright, alright keep your skirt on." John said as he walked forwards to help Remus only to find himself joining him and getting pulled into the air with a rope trap around his ankle to. John looked at the snare, looked to the ground and then looked at the snare again before he sighed in defeat.

"Bloody Huntington Siblings." John said simply recognising the situations. Not only are the Huntington sibling accomplished Wardmasters but they are the best at setting up traps in a limited time to ambush enemies that could be on their trail.

"Can't we just cut ourselves down?" Remus said as he grabbed his wand from his holster and get ready to cut the rope around his ankle.

"WAIT!" John yelled stopping Remus in his tracks. "Those two don't just place snares like these, they place another trap underneath the snare, so if someone gets caught like we have and they cut themselves down they fall into a pretty nasty trap." John explained making Remus pale.

"In this case we placed a Quicksand ward. You fall into that and it acts just like quicksand, you fall into that and you're gone in a few minutes." The two heard and saw the Siblings sitting on a tree branch at their level with massive grins on their faces.

"This is why we all hate it when we play wargames to keep our skills up and it's the team vs these two." John explained remembering incidents just like this when Alpha Team does its annual wargames.

"It's kinda funny." Mathew said as he jumped down to the ground and dispelled the quicksand traps.

"Oh hilarious." John and Remus said simultaneously causing the sibling's smiles to get bigger.

"You haven't even seen the funny part yet." Rachel said as she pulled out two tomahawks from her bag and threw one to her brother.

"Wait a minute… Don't you dar…" John started but was cut off as the two siblings cut the ropes holding John and Remus up causing them to fall and they could only watch as the ground got bigger but stopped falling as they were about a meter off it and looked up to see the Siblings with their wands out.

"Pranksters." Remus said not actually knowing the feeling of being pranked as it was mostly him and the other Marauders doing the pranking.

"Put Me Down!" John yelled finally having enough and the siblings looked at each other and shrugged before letting the two go and they landed on their stomachs. John groaned and mumbled something about not having the patients to put up with the two before he pulled himself to his feet. "Have you two heard from Jordan or Gibbs or have you two been stuff-arsing around all day?" John asked as he wiped dirt, leaves and sticks from his uniform as he glared at the two.

"The last message we heard from him was when we landed, like he said we're all on radio silence and we've heard nothing from Gibbs except one communication saying the Co-Pilot managed to land the plane but was killed by Death Eaters. Haven't heard from the other pilot for that matter but no news is good news I guess." Rachel said seriously now that the time for joking was aside and they needed to be serious.

"I think we should radio in… it's been a few hours and we need to know what we need to do." Mathew said which John had to agree with and he grabbed his radio from his shoulder.

"Dragon to Phoenix… come in Phoenix." John called over the radio and waited.

"Yeah Hi… Dragon, it's Jess here. Jordan's kinda busy here. Please try again in a few minutes." Everyone heard Jess say over the radio with a background of spells being yelled and a hail of gunfire and explosions. Everyone waited with holding their breath knowing Jordan could take care of himself but that he needed to look after Jess too.

"Phoenix to Dragon… you're timing needs work there old friend." Jordan said making everyone breathe a sigh of relief.

"Working on it. Remus and I have met up with the Siblings and we need a plan of action." John said and waited for the reply.

"Yeah we'd appreciate one too. We've been ducking Death Eater hit squads all morning and I'm not sure how long we can stay hidden, over." Gibbs said joining the conversation sounding slightly out of breath.

"Jess and I have found an old WWII Runway on the southern part of the island and we just cleared Death Eaters out of an old bunker nearby that we can lay low and defend until evac arrives… unfortunately it looks as if the Death Eaters have cast Anti-Appartation Wards and Portkey Wards over the island and It's messing with Comms. We can talk with each other but we can't raise command so I can only hope Director Smith knows to land at the Runway. Also we've managed to meet up with the Pilot and he's helped us clear out the bunker. Try and get here at the rush, a few Death Eaters escaped and you can bet they'll be back with friends. Phoenix Out." Jordan said before all was silent again.

"Alright we have a plan… let's get too it." John said as he placed his radio back on his shoulder and readied his gun and all four began making their way to the southern part of the island hoping to make the evac point in time to help Jordan before he's over run with Death Eaters.

Jordan placed his radio back onto his shoulder and looked around the room they were in… The bunker they were in looked to be an abandoned armoury as there was shelves that would have once housed weapons, ammunition and other supplies. All that was left was cobwebs and three crates of abandoned supplies that he was interested into looking into. If whoever ran this base had to pull-out in a hurry they could have grabbed the important gear and left behind something that could assist them. Unfortunately, the bunker was not in the best of conditions… holes in the roof, collapsed walls and rubble everywhere. Hell the main door didn't even shut properly thanks to the build-up of rust from years of decay.

"Not the best accommodations but I've been in worse." Jordan said with a sigh while shaking his head. He flicked his wrist and his wand shot into his hand from his holster and began repairing what he could. While he could easily do this with wandless magic, using a wand was much less taxing on his reserves and while his reserves were much larger than most he was still susceptible to magical exhaustion and he was going to need all the strength he could muster as he was positive an army of Death Eaters were about to rain hell down on the group in the bunker.

"Really… this place looks pretty bad, hard to imagine a place worse than this." The pilot said as he watched as the bunker was putting itself back together as the walls repaired and the holes in the roof vanished.

"Hey why don't you have a look into those crates on the shelves… maybe there is something that can help us." Jordan suggested as he started working on the door and the armoured windows. The pilot shrugged and went and pulled the three crates off the shelves and placed the on the floor to see them easier. He lifted his foot up to his chest and slammed it down on the rusted padlocks tearing them off the crates one at a time. He opened one and found it empty and turned to the second to find a case of M1 Carbines along with a couple dozen clips.

"Ohh… case of Carbines, Nice." The pilot said as he picked one up only to wince as he saw the state they were in. "Though I doubt they would be of much use, especially when you have your two weapons." The pilot added as he looked the rifle over.

"Let me have a look." Jordan said walking over and took the offered rifle. Jordan looked it over before letting his magic seep into the rifle and Jess and the pilot watched as if it de-aged itself. The rifle went from looking as if it would break with one hit to almost pristine. "We can use these while in here by aiming out the narrow slots in the windows like how defending armies did in WWII and save the ammo in our weapons for when we make our escape or we get overrun." Jordan said handing the rifle back to the pilot and repaired the other two rifles in the crate and restored the ammo into better condition. They checked the last crate to find it also empty. Jordan and the pilot slid clips into their weapons and checked them over one last time.

"I hope you two are finished admiring your new toys and are ready… cause we've got company." Jess said as she looked out the window as Death Eaters started coming into view, their black cloaks easily noticeable in the forest background. Jess moved aside as Jordan and the pilot went up to the two windows and looked out before readying their rifles.

"Shall we see how many Death Eaters fall before Voldemort himself shows up?" Jordan asked with a smile. Normally anyone else saying that would have the pilot fearing for his life angering one of Briton's darkest lord in history but standing beside an Arch-Mage just makes him feel like they can take anything thrown at them.

"Oh this is going to be interesting." He said as they both pulled the trigger and watched as the first two death eaters fell with many more to follow.
