Summary: When an engagement ring mysterious appears on someone's finger, it sends Port Charles in a tale spin.
Timeline: 2009, after Liason's break up but before LnL2 reunion. Everyone believes Elizabeth is single and free, until an engagement ring popped up on her finger.
Pairings: Are A Surprise!
Inspiration: I really wanted to write something funny. I usually write longing or angst with a reunion (though there is a few exceptions), but I wanted to write something that will make the readers laugh and say, "Go! Liz!" So this is how this idea came about after watching an episode of "Vicar of Dibley" where the main character, Geraldine Granger, is getting married and a bunch of her past loves try to get her to runaway with them. It was an amazing episode, I recommend everyone to watch it. It is on Netflixs.

Guest Reviews:
Chicki'62: I know, it's a tempting thought to turn into a full length story. Maybe an idea to roll around the back burner, until I get time or maybe someone else will get inspired and have fun with it. Thank you so much. I think Monica being the serial killer would have been a startling plot twist, but also a lot of people would have been mad about them turning a vet into a character like that. (Not that they hasn't stopped them from sacrificing vets in other ways.) Oh, that should have definitely happened. Oh, I know who you are talking about now. I only watched Suits in the beginning, but didn't have a DVR so couldn't keep up with it. I may do a chapter with him eventually.
Guest 1: I'm glad you enjoyed them! I will add more chapters, but they won't be a main focus for me anymore. Just every once in a while, so there is still hope! ;)
Guest 2: I didn't think a Liz/Hotch pairing would work, either, but I knew for sure that a starting point would be bonding over their children. Both are so fiercely protective of their children so it was natural that would be the conversation starter for them to kind of pick up their old friendship. I think Sam,Sonny, and Carly get away with so much, especially with bashing Liason and their history, so I do like to hand out them some punishments lol. Yeah, I like leaving Jason will a little bit of hope. He may not be happy, but he could be down the line. I may hate what GH has done to his character, but I will always hold onto the Jason that was his best. Sam is exactly that! I like Kelly Monaco, but the character of Sam I only like at certain times. When she acts like a person, and not the "ride and die" chick that they write her as which to me is a major fail. Thanks for the review!
Guest 3: Thanks! Yes, Dean could stand toe to toe with Jason Morgan and not bat an eye. I think Dean also hold a grudge against Jason seeing his abandonment similar to what John did to Dean and Sam. While John didn't abandon the kids, per say, he did emotional leave them behind for quite a while if that makes sense so Dean kind of sees himself in Cameron and Jake. Jensen and Becky would be amazing on screen. Could you imagine if Becky guest starred on Supernatural? Ahh! I would like die of happiness. :D
Chapter Seventeen
"Love Comes Home"
Her hand held his tightly, apprehension coiled in her gut sharply.
Elizabeth Webber watched the elevator move up the floors, the numbers ticked by too fast for her liking, and she looked at her fiancé, Johnny O'Brien out of the corner of her eye. The first they had met she had noticed Johnny. It was hard not to notice him, with his charming personality, Irish accent and devilishly handsome looks. But her heart had been torn over Lucky or Jason to do more than appreciate the fine specimen of man before her. Eventually though, things had changed. She had considered Johnny a friend and after moving out of the penthouse and Courtney latching immediately onto Jason two weeks later, Johnny had been one of the few that stood by her to support her. Whatever civility her and Carly had vanished. Sonny treated her as if they had never been friends. Courtney did a one-eighty and had treated her like dirt.
Johnny stayed. Francis had to, but there was a difference. Francis was like the father/uncle that she never had, and always checked up on her. Johnny, the vibe was way more different. A spark, a little bit of heat that fluttered in her stomach when Johnny shot her a crooked smile or wink, and at first, Elizabeth saw it as harmless flirting. It was fun to have Johnny around, but one night changed everything. She struggled with PTSD after her kidnapping. She would have random panic attacks, triggered by a loud noise that reminded her of the crypt door being slammed shut or being stuck in too big of a crowd that made her claustrophobic. She had one of those violent episodes, and Johnny had found herself curled up in a ball on her studio floor, trying to remember to breath. She remembered how he picked her up and held her tight to him, pressing her palm against his chest to feel his heartbeat and his breaths. "Breath with me," he encouraged, gently.
It had been the start of something. They kept it hidden in the beginning, not wanting Sonny's antics or anyone else to shatter the precious fragile thing that they had. It should have been the start of something wonderful, but they didn't get a chance. Johnny told Elizabeth that Courtney and Ric were setting him up, and that he had to fake his death because Sonny was about to put a hit out on him. He had learned of a shocking truth—one he shared with Elizabeth since it had something to do with her, too—and with the erratic way Sonny had been, they both knew he wouldn't hear Johnny out. The night before Jason "murdered" him, Elizabeth and Johnny made love and Cameron was conceived. It had been years since they had seen each other. A few letters here and there, Johnny letting Elizabeth know about his progress. Johnny knew that in order to live a peaceful life without Sonny gunning for him, even when the truth was revealed about Courtney and Ric's scheme, he needed powerful allies that would keep the mob enforcer in line such as the Giambetti family and Higurashi family. They didn't speak about them, only about their son Cameron. They didn't make promises because Johnny's fate was uncertain, and he told he wouldn't let her wait on a maybe.
So Elizabeth tried to move. She married Lucky, and lord knows that was a disaster. She tried to make a life with Jason, but their love just didn't seem enough. Ready to call it quits and decide that she was just not meant to love and be in love, Johnny came back into her life. Quiet and silent like all those years that he had left, Johnny appeared during the biotoxin crisis. Elizabeth had been fearful worried that Sonny would see him and kill him, but Johnny reassured her that he had everything under control. He came to her home that night, and met Cameron for the first time. There had been Skype messages, but nothing could compare to the moment when Johnny got to see his son for the first time face to face. Cameron had Johnny's cheeky grin, and those curls were all Elizabeth, Johnny had said. Cameron was a bit lukewarm at first, but when Johnny made it clear that he wasn't going anywhere, the boy started to warm up. Jake instantly liked Johnny, much to Elizabeth's relief.
They hadn't just picked up where things had left off. Elizabeth was cautious after everything that happened over the years, but Johnny had the patience of a saint. He and her talked about all the places that he had been, and he brought her home one day more paints and canvases. It had been the first in a long time since Elizabeth had painted, and she painted a picture of the countryside from Johnny's childhood that he had shown her. He had loved the painting, and that's when he had kissed. Everything after that was history.
It had been months since then, and Johnny was now ready to let the "Irishman out of the bag" as he jokingly called it. No matter how much humor he found in this situation—he really wanted to see the gobsmacked look on Jason and Sonny's faces—Elizabeth couldn't laugh about it. She didn't want to lose him when she just got him back. When they finally got the chance that was denied them so many years ago, and she knew how Sonny was when he believed somebody betrayed him. "Are you absolutely sure about this?" Elizabeth asked him for the millionth time.
"I am," Johnny nodded, empathetically. "Don't worry, darling. Sonny might scream and shot, but he knows better than to draw a gun here in the hospital. We'll give him all the information about Courtney, Ric, and also let Jason know about Sam. If he decides to try and make a move despite that then he will have a war with the other families on his hands. I've made good allies."
"I know you have," Elizabeth whispered, softly. She rested her head against his shoulder, and sighed deeply. "I just wished that I believed that this would all end peacefully."
"I won't let anyone hurt you or the boys," Johnny pressed a kiss to her head. "I promise you that."
Elizabeth smiled, his promise more reassuring than he knew. The elevator doors pulled open, and they exited them. Elizabeth could already hear Sonny's dulcet tones echoing from the Nurses' Station where he was complaining about why he had been called here. It was a setup, of course. To get Sonny to a public location and then approach him. Johnny was nothing else, if not thorough in his plans. She watched with an even expression when Jason lifted his head, and then looked up to see her standing there. His expression twisted, a pain and longing, but then his blue eyes flickered to Johnny. Shock and disbelief flashed across the hitman's face and Sam asked, clinging to Jason's arm, "What's wrong, Jason? Who is that?"
That's when Sonny and Carly turned.
Elizabeth admitted, their expression were pretty priceless. Her amusement didn't last long when she saw the disbelief and rage burn Sonny's dark eyes, and his face pale with anger. "What the hell is this?" Sonny Corinthos demanded, his voice as loud as thunder. "How they hell are you alive? You are supposed to be dead. I had you—"
"Careful, Sonny," Johnny interrupted, with a sharp smile. "You wouldn't want people to think you kill people for a living, now do you?"
There was a tense moment where no one made a sound. Even the nurses and doctors watched with baited breath as Sonny trembled, with only Carly's hand on his arm to hold him back. The group was lent a room by Monica and when the door was sealed shut, Carly was the first to say something.
"What is going on here, muffin face?" Carly asked, glaring at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth glanced at Johnny, and her fiancé nodded. "We want to clear the air here. Johnny was innocent, Sonny," the nurse explained, her voice calm and composed. It was a contrast to the warring emotions that swirled through her from head to toe. "He didn't betray you all those years ago. He was setup by someone else. He faked his death, and gathered information over the years to prove his innocence."
"And I'm supposed to believe an innocent man hides for what five, nearly six years?" Sonny snapped, with a sharp shake of his head. "You're a good person, Elizabeth. You believe too much in second chances, and you're letting this bastard con you because your old friendship."
"It almost sounds like you care," Johnny snorted. "Too bad, you proved how little your friendship with Elizabeth meant when Courtney came to town. It's a shame that she is dead, you know. I really wanted her to suffer for her part in setting me up to look like a traitor."
Carly turned red. "How dare you? Courtney was a good woman and Sonny's sister!"
Johnny shook his head in disbelief. "It's amazing how quickly people will forget the bad things a person did after they die. Courtney wasn't a good woman. She came into this town with the same ambitions like her mother Janine, to con and trick you all. Courtney was more successful than her mother," Johnny revealed, not caring how callous he was. These people cost him years of his life, years that he could have spent with Elizabeth and made her his wife. He would have treated her better than Lucky or Jason had, but they got Jake out of it. Johnny had already taking Jake under his wing, and his heart Jake was his son in every way that mattered. He didn't treat him any differently than Cameron, and he would give them the support that their previous father figures hadn't. He laid the file down on the counter, and gestured to it. "All the proof you need about Courtney and Ric's little scheme. You can have your people check it, verify it all to your heart's content."
"Wh-what are you talking about?" Sonny glowered. "What scheme between Courtney and Ric?"
"Sonny, you honestly aren't believing this, are you?" Carly demanded, hotly.
"Hear him out, Carly," Elizabeth stated, softly. "I didn't want to believe it, either. But it's the truth. Everything in there, all the lies and manipulations that the two pulled on all of us, is the truth. Johnny wouldn't have risked bringing you here, and meeting you like this if it weren't."
"Bullshit," the blond hissed. "This is your fault. You are just trying to ruin Courtney's memories. You always resented that she was Sonny's family and not you."
"But she wasn't," Johnny cut in, coldly. "Ric might be your brother, but Courtney isn't your sister. I have phone calls, dates where the two met, and proof of how they faked the DNA test to make it appear as if she were your sister, Sonny. She used Elizabeth's DNA to do so."
"What?" Sonny looked taken aback.
"No! No way I am believing that!" Carly shook her head, violently.
Sam had a skittish look on her face, and her dark eyes flickered towards the door. Elizabeth almost pitied her because she had to know that if they knew this much about Courtney and Ric, then they knew her real reason for coming to Port Charles.
Jason frowned. "Elizabeth gave you a blood transfusion. You had a unique blood-type, doctors were struggling to find a donor. She was a match for you, Sonny," the hitman spoke up, his blue eyes dark with thought. "Her blood, her DNA was already on file in the hospital. It is plausible that Ric and Courtney could have used her blood to falsify the DNA results."
"Jason, you can't be serious," Carly looked at him, like he had just betrayed her. "You loved Courtney. You married her. How can you seriously believe this twit about this?"
"Yes, I knew who Courtney was," Jason said, lightly. "I also knew that she lied and manipulated situations to get her way. I'm sorry, Sonny. I know that you…you believed she was your sister, but if Johnny went through this much trouble to prove his innocence, we have to consider the possibility he is telling the truth. If we made a mistake, then we betrayed a friend and a loyal ally."
Sonny's jaw tightened. He looked like he wanted to argue, but he couldn't find one.
"I agree with Carly," Sam interjected, her hand trembled on Jason's bicep. "Elizabeth obviously wants to insert herself back into Jason's life, and thinks she can do so by being Sonny's sister. That way she would be tied to the mob, and he could use the danger excuse to let her down gently."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes at that. "Please get over yourself, Sam. You know next to nothing about me or what my motivations have ever been. You just want to make me the villain because you want to pretend you are the hero in some grand fairytale conjured up in your head. But you past isn't glorious, it isn't something that can be just written off or swept underneath the rug," the nurse told her, with a sharp and intense glare. "You are just trying to distract everyone by pointing fingers because you're afraid that Johnny knows exactly why you were brought into town by Ric and Courtney."
The room stilled. Jason blinked, his spine stiffening. "What?"
"Jason, you can't believe them," Sam said, looking at him pleadingly.
"Sam was supposed to seduce Sonny, fake pregnancy, and give him a drug that was supposed to send him into a rage. She was supposed to be pushed by Sonny down the stairs, framing him and given the incident with Ric's mother, we all know how badly that would have looked for him," Johnny elaborated, a tick in his jawline. "Except Sam got a little too greedy, and decided in the middle of her scheme that she really did want Jax. That's the reason she was bouncing back and forth between the two. When she realized she had gotten pregnant by Sonny, and screwed up her chances with Jax, she tried to make the best of it. We all know that Sonny decided to go back to Carly like always, and was pawned off on Jason."
"That's absurd! Why would I do that?" Sam hissed, darkly. "You can take your false proof and shove it where the sun don't shine."
Johnny ignored the woman like she was an ant. "Sam was an afterthought. You see the only reason she even was brought in was because Ric's original plan fell apart. Courtney was supposed to marry Jason, and you were supposed to die Sonny. Jason would take over, and eventually he would die under mysterious circumstances. By then, Ric would have gotten loyalty of your men and took over the organization completely. Except you never trusted Ric, so his plans started to fall apart. Courtney blackmailed him into silence, content with the luxury she was afforded by marrying Jason until she wasn't. You don't have to take my world for any of this, Sonny," Johnny stated, with an uncaring shrug of his shoulder. His eyes stared unblinkingly into Sonny's, and he didn't back down from the mobster not for one second. "You can call Giambetti and Higurashi about my findings. Their informants are the one gathered the evidence, and they wanted to present it at the next meeting of the Five Families. I managed to convince them to let me do it privately out of respect. We were, after all, once friends and whether you like it or not, family now."
"Family?" Sonny's brows furrowed.
"Elizabeth and I are engaged. Cameron is my son," Johnny told him, bluntly. "I don't want a war, Sonny. I want my life back, but that's doesn't mean I won't fight for it if it comes down to it. I really hope for all your sakes, that you won't start a needless war."
The engaged couple left the room, knowing the devastation and confusion left in their wake. Elizabeth leaned more firmly into Johnny's side, and he wrapped his arm around her waist. They had left the hospital to go for a walk along the docks underneath the sunny sky. The water was calm and steady, and not a cloud was in sight. "Sonny was so desperate for family that he allowed the wrong people into his life, didn't he? They took advantage of his honor, took advantage of his hot headedness. I mean, I'm not excusing what he did, but it makes me sad," Elizabeth commented, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "He let users and abusers into his life, and it affected not only him, but Carly and Jason, too. Courtney was Carly's best friend. I can't imagine how that feels. If I learned Emily had lied about why she was in my life or my friend, I would have been devastated. And Jason let both Courtney and Sam in intimately. Jason may not make good choices about the women in his life, but it takes a lot for him to let someone in emotionally. They violated that trust, and he must be questioning everything right now."
"You know, you have the most generous heart that I know," Johnny whispered, in awe of the woman he loved beside him. "After everything they did to you through the years and you manage to find compassion for them."
"It's not for them," Elizabeth told him, with a small smile. "It's for me. I had to let go of a lot of hurt in order not to become harden or jaded by it. That space in my heart was too important to let it be filled with hate when I could fill with love and things that would make my life better. Like you," she teased, running her hands up his chest and then winding them around his neck.
"I make your life better, do I?" Johnny grinned, kissing her gently. His lips danced across her with a seductively precision that had her toes curling in her shoes.
"Infinitely better," Elizabeth breathed out.
It took a week for Sonny to verify all that Johnny had brought to him. Spinelli had gone through the computer files on the hard drive, and was pale and shaken by the end of it. He had confronted Sam, emotional and broken that his trusted Goddess was a liar. Sam had tried to stop Spinelli from telling Jason, but Jason showed up just in time to prevent Sam from murdering Spinelli in cold blood. Sam tried to justify her actions, trying to make Jason believe that it was their all true love that is why she was with him, but in the end, Sam ended out in the cold. She was picked up by the police in Alabama, and they ran her fingerprints. Spinelli had undid the cover up he did to keep Sam safe from her past, and now she was sitting in a Florida jail waiting on her trial. No Sonny and Jason to help her now.
Carly wouldn't believe that Elizabeth was Sonny's sister. She was downright venomous about it, and she had even tried to get access to the DNA test being down. When she saw for her own two eyes that Elizabeth was a match, she changed it anyways because she didn't want Elizabeth Webber to have one foot hold in her life. She couldn't let that bitch near Sonny or Jason. Her plans didn't work because Sonny had sent the DNA test to several labs, not just General Hospital. He learned what Carly did and confronted her about. It had ended in the worst fight that they had ever had, and now were getting a divorce. Carly didn't want it, but Sonny knew he had change who he was. He had attracted the wrong sort of people into his life, and had ended up hurting people who genuinely cared. He knew that he would never have the sibling relationship he wanted with Elizabeth, but had encouraged his father to pursue one regardless. Mike had always liked Elizabeth, and hadn't turned his back on her even when Courtney—his supposed daughter—and Elizabeth weren't getting along.
Jason was struggling. He had to reevaluate his life choices, and why he did the things he did. He had left two women Courtney and Sam con him, and he had easily bought into their lies because it had been easy. Easy to be with them as opposed to fighting for what he wanted. He knew he wasn't getting Elizabeth back, she was head over heels with Johnny and honestly, he knew he didn't deserve another chance with her. He gave Johnny and Elizabeth a honeymoon to Italy as a sign of good will, and ensuring that Elizabeth would see the beautiful country. It was one promise he could keep. He had a good relationship with Jake, seeing him every other weekend. He might have started on a path to bettering himself, but Jason knew he had a long way to go before he could be happy himself.
Elizabeth and Johnny moved into a big house with a large front and backyard for the boys to play. It had state of the art grade security, and was a fresh start for their new life as a family. Elizabeth had many times where her past came back, or she had tried to salvage old love, but this was one time that she got it right. She couldn't be more thankful for having Johnny'O Brien in her life.
END OF CHAPTER!
I know it wasn't long, but I hope you like it! :D
This story will be official "complete" now, but that doesn't mean I won't add new chapters. My focus will be on my other stories, and this will be a backburner. Thank you all for the support. You have been amazing, and made me so happy to be a LizFF. :D
RRs are appreciated.
