As requested by yellow14, here is the rest of what I had for the wedding and a summary of what would have happened in the rest of Thorns Have Roses if circumstances were different and I was able to finish writing it. I'm sorry this took a few days to write out. My outlines normally consist of lines like "LOL, invite Draco to Christmas?" and "She drinks, there is sadness", but you all deserve more than that, so here is the cleaned up version.

The rest of the wedding:

After a few more minutes spent like this, the pair managed to collect themselves enough to rejoin the party. Rose cast several vanity spells that Mary Parker and Maeve Macmillan had taught her to smooth their hair, adjust their clothing, and fix any smudges in her makeup.

Once presentable, they made their way to the tent at the far side of the orchard, where the party already appeared to be in full swing. Waiters bustled around the room, baring trays laden with drinks and hors d'oeuvres; the ones who carried glasses of a dark amber cocktail with orange flames flickering at its surface seemed to be in particularly high demand. A band dressed in smart brown jackets played something akin to swing music, and it seemed that none of Rose's relatives felt shy about flooding the dance floor this early into the reception. Couples jumped and twisted and twirled around each other, and others simply formed clusters and swung their hips to the beat.

Teddy and Victoire were at the center of it all, competing in a dance-off with Fred and his date, Maeve Macmillan. It wasn't clear what the rules were or who was winning, but both parties appeared to be enjoying themselves, as were the spectators taking pictures from the sidelines.

Letting her eyes rove around the room, Rose began to keep tabs on the rest of her immediate family members. It was a red-haired sea of chaos, and though Rose didn't think there was much any of them could do to embarrass themselves compared to the other Weasleys present, she also knew that her brother and cousins were nothing if not creative.

Dominique and Louis were on the dance floor, laughing at their sister's and new brother-in-law's antics. Lisa McLaggen stood on Dom's other side. Their bodies were far too close to be platonic, and Lisa's arm rested around her girlfriend's waist. It seemed that Rose and Scorpius's relationship wouldn't be the only one in the spotlight tonight.

was on the dance floor, laughing at her sister's antics.

She saw Roxanne, who was not yet old enough to drink, taking sips from her date's glass. There'd been quite a stir when Thomas Flint had Apparated into the Weasley's garden earlier that day, clutching an invitation that proved Roxanne had invited him as her plus one. As the female wedding guests began to swoon and fawn over him and the Quidditch enthusiasts swarmed in the hopes of obtaining an autograph, Roxanne had walked up, taken him by the hand, shot all of them a glare, and led him off to a more secluded part of the tent. The rest of the guests had continued to marvel at his presence throughout the day, but most were wise enough to do it from a distance. Rose wasn't too concerned by Roxanne's underage drinking, however, and so she continued to cast her gaze around the room.

Hugo and Lily were sitting at tables, talking and eating with their respective dates from Hogwarts. They seemed happy, and she made a mental note to corner both later for details.

She caught a glimpse of Molly's auburn hair as the girl ducked out of the tent with Alexander. Rose smirked, assuming that the long-term couple was seeking out a hidden spot much like the one she and Scorpius had found earlier, and for much the same purpose.

James was in the corner...sulking? Was he sulking? She could see his stiff body language even from a distance, the tense and uncomfortable set of his shoulders, arms crossed over his chest. His face was fixed into a scowl, and he kept shooting daggers at something or someone behind her.

Rose turned to look in the direction of his glare...

And saw Andy.

Oh Merlin.

Andy sat in a chair toward the opposite corner of the tent. She was surrounded by three boys roughly their own age whom Rose didn't recognize - she assumed they were from Fleur's French side of the family, or perhaps older Hogwarts mates of Teddy and Victoire. She was very much aware of their attention, the way their eyes lingered over her body, their smirks as they flirted and refilled her glass once she'd drained it.

Summary

Wedding, continued

- Andrea flirts with the boys. Fights with James. He begrudgingly admits that they weren't explicitly exclusive. Andy, frustrated, says that all he had to do was ask - it's clear that she's instigated the fight for this purpose. So, now he asks and they're official.

"You're jealous? Fine. Ask me to be exclusive. I'll say yes. It's that simple."

- Rose downs champagne like a shot, says fuck it, and slow dances with Scorpius. Everyone stares, but it's worth it. Ron looks away but doesn't have a tantrum.

- Dominique comes out to their extended family by means of snogging her plus-one, Lisa McLaggen.

- Mrs. Weasley gives Molly and Alexander meaningful stares. Once again, we see that she's pushing for them to get married.

Sexy times

- When they return back to Hogwarts from the wedding, they begin to be sexual in the Head Dormitory.

- His scars have become a part of him now, as much as his blonde hair and blue-grey eyes. He was hers, every bit of him, scars and all.

- Scorpius interrupts what they're doing, saying he wants to learn "the" spell.

"Now? You want to talk about homework NOW?"

He isn't talking about homework, though - he means the Ravenclaw memory spell, the one she discovered and used to save him last Christmas. He'd refused to acknowledge it before, pretending it didn't exist because it meant he survived the attack on Malfoy Manor based on luck rather than Rose's over preparedness alone. It was an emotional wall that he'd put between them last year, but now he's trying to tear it down and she's touched. She loves him, and he's dealing with his own issues to show how much he loves her.

Christmas

- Harry convinces Molly to invite Draco as well as Scorpius.

The elder Molly Weasley was not accustomed to experiencing internal conflict. External conflict, she was perfectly adept with. She was the mother of six boys, after all, and had grown up with six brothers herself. Specifically, Mrs. Weasley was not used to having her gut reaction pitted against the deep-seated maternal instincts she extended toward everyone who was possibly suffering some sort of misfortune. And yet, this is exactly the position she found herself in when Harry suggested that she invite Draco Malfoy to Christmas at the Burrow. "He and Scorpius have no one," he reminded her gently. "Narcissa is dead, Lucius has disappeared, he's tried improving his relationship with Andromeda over the years for Scorpius' sake but of course she and Teddy always come here for Christmas anyway. Rose and Scorpius seem to be getting more serious…". "I like Scorpius. I have nothing against inviting Scorpius to dinner." "There's no earthly way the two of them would agree to be parted on Christmas. Not after what happened last year." "Draco Malfoy terrorized you lot as children. He has a Dark Mark." "He's trying to make amends. Did Percy tell you that Draco wrote him last week, inviting him to visit the Manor and study his collection of alchemical manuscripts? Scorpius mentioned to him that Perce started as Hogwarts' Alchemy Professor last year, apparently they've made plans for next Tuesday."

- It's tense but ends up okay. The family shows Scorpius and Draco embarrassing baby pictures of Rose and Al, and Draco bonds with them all by showing embarrassing baby photos of Scorpius. Astoria and Narcissa are in many of them, making him emotional and seem a little more human.

- Andrea and James are still together.

- Bill or Charlie alludes to Hogwarts Mystery. "Sibling of Jacob Collins. Can't remember their name now. I remember having lots of fun adventures with them, though. It's what happens when you lose touch with people I suppose."

- Scorpius successfully navigated a Muggle website (with Andrea's extensive help) to order him and Rose tickets to see Wicked in London over the Easter holidays - he enjoyed The Wizard of Oz when they watched it with Al in the summer, and talked about plays versus movies even years ago. She's thrilled with the present, of course, and touched. They decide that they can get the film in his camera developed that day while they're in Muggle London.

Hogwarts

- The trio is excelling in their classes, of course. Still, they're all overworked and stressed.

- Rose stressed between studying for NEWTs, working as Potions Apprentice, Quidditch, and Head Girl duties.

- Rose discovers records of a potion created by Rowena Ravenclaw, thanks to her research from the spell last year and her work as Potions Apprentice with Professor Rosier. It filters out distraction, and is conducive to learning and concentrating. She sees the larger implications as well, for Seers like Molly or just people with mental illness who have difficulty focusing, or who have difficulty determining what is reality. Decides to brew it and write a paper on it with Professor Rosier for publication.

- Scorpius continues to work toward being an Auror. Quidditch, and Head Boy duties.

- Albus realizes that Transfiguration is his passion. He wants to go into academics/research with the ultimate goal of teaching. Quidditch Captain and Animagus lessons.

- Apparition lessons

- Rose gives Scorpius a Muggle Valentine

Rose's nightmare

- At some point between Christmas and Easter, Rose has a bad nightmare.

Rose had heard somewhere before that your brain cannot create faces - that the people you dream up at night are real, whether or not you remember meeting them. She couldn't remember where she'd heard this information, but with her own experiences she could not disprove it. The faces that filled her happiest dreams were those of her family and friends, smiling and laughing and pulling at the locks of her curly red hair to tease her. And the faces that filled her nightmares were utterly, horrifyingly real.
"Rose!" she heard someone shout from a distance. "Rosie, it's okay. Wake up sweetheart, its okay."

- Scorpius' black eyes, and the scars on his chest. Watching him die.

Easter

- Rose and Scorpius Portkey to Muggle London to see Wicked.

- First, they go to get the film in Scorpius's Muggle camera developed. They're filled with pictures of people who matter to him. Albus, his father, some with his grandmother before she passed, Rose's family, Andrea. Rose sees her own face everywhere, in almost every single frame. It's a sweet moment, reconciling any lingering hesitance or discomfort from their fight last year.

- Andrea and James are with them. Andrea has gotten back in contact with her brother Michael, who is working as a doctor at a hospital in London. She wants to introduce him to James, as they're quite serious at this point - she wants him to meet the only family who still matters to her, as she's largely been adopted by the Potter-Weasleys.

- The four take the Tube to the theater, as it's in the direction of the hospital. Scorpius is terrified by it. He clutches the thin piece of paper tightly (ticket for Tube) as if holding on for dear life. It's fast, and dark, and dirty, and noisy, and crowded, and far too deep underground for him to be at ease.

- As they're riding, there's an explosion - a Muggle terrorist attack. The train they're riding is decimated. There's smoke and noise and heat, shrapnel and blood and fire everywhere. When the dust clears enough for her to see, Rose sees people dead and dying all around them. Scorpius's fast reaction time allowed him to cast a Shield spell around them both, as they were sitting right next to each other holding hands… but there was no time for him to extend it to anyone else, including Andrea and James. Andrea is injured and unconscious, and James is dead. She and Scorpius break the Statute of Secrecy to heal injured Muggles.

Aftermath

- There is grieving, of course. The family is devastated.

- Rose, Scorpius, and Andrea all blame themselves for various reasons - It was Andrea's idea to take him to Muggle London to meet her brother, it was Rose's idea to take the Tube rather than Apparate, and Scorpius blames himself that he couldn't expand the shield spell fast enough to protect him too. They deal in their various ways: Rose retreats to her books and becomes more moody, Andy's drinking re-emerges, and Scorpius becomes fiercely overprotective of everyone he cares for while forgetting to take care of himself. He has more nightmares.

- The three continue to work through their coping mechanisms in exchange for healthier ones throughout the rest of the story.

- Rose and Scorpius are put on trial for breaking the Statute of Secrecy, but are exonerated due to the circumstances.

- It inspires Hermione, who is still Minister for Magic, to redefine the statute so that wizards can become more involved in Muggle affairs as long as they keep their magic secret.

- This has finally convinced Ron that Scorpius has the best intentions for his daughter. Once again he has saved her life, and this time there is no possible way to pin the blame for the incident on him. Ron will never like Scorpius, but he respects him and trusts him to treat Rose well. Her relationship with her father is repaired. It brings Draco closer to the Weasley-Potters as well.

Tying up loose threads

- After taking several weeks to themselves at home to grieve, Andrea and the Weasley-Potters return to Hogwarts.

- The trio take and sail through NEWTs, leaving them to pursue their chosen career paths. Andrea shows up to the exams drunk and fails all of hers aside from Astronomy. She debates whether she wants to retake them later, pursue Astronomy as a career, or simply return to the Muggle world because she has never known the wizard world without James and she cannot separate the two.

… I'm honestly not sure what she chooses. This was going to be one of those scenes that writes themselves, because that seems to happen a lot when it comes to Andy.

- Harry tells Rose and Al about how dark the war got, at some point. He explains Horcruxes to them.

- Molly and Alexander get engaged, as do Dominique and Lisa.

- Scorpius flashes back to the end of first year as they sail across the Black Lake at Hogwarts graduation. Lines from Chapter 6:

Scorpius smiled, wanting nothing more than to skip to seventh year: Captain of the Quidditch team, Head Boy, and with his two best friends by his side. His family would have finally accepted him by then, not just resigned to his being a Ravenclaw but actually proud of him and his accomplishments. So, too, would the rest of Rose's family. He was beginning to hope that her cousins at Hogwarts had grown to like him, an outcome made more likely by their proximity and occasional kind smiles toward him at the game today. Her father… well, he had five and a half years to prove him wrong. And by seventh year, everything would be perfect.
Scorpius wanted to jump forward in time, and yet he knew it was better that he couldn't. Some things are important enough to wait for, made all the sweeter by the trials and anticipation and heartache of the journey taken to get there. Indeed, he knew it wouldn't be easy, that there would be obstacles and people standing in his path every step of the way. But thorns have roses, he thought, and some things are worth fighting through briars for.

He reflects that many things weren't what he expected. He'd been looking through Rose-colored glasses (he smiles at the joke) and could never have imagined all the pain the past 6 years had brought. Still, though, he would have done it all again. Some things are worth fighting through briars for, and Rose would always be one of them.
